Never heard of a place that rents them, but there's this for pretty cheap if you don't need professional-level quality. That's not to say it's poor quality, though; I've used that model and it isn't bad.

Yeah I got my Gear 360 (2016 version) off of Amazon for $85... which is quite a bit cheaper than the original price.

Would this do ya?

I love my Samsung Gear 360! The first model is currently only US$ 66 at Amazon, which is a bargain! It has a better resolution for pictures and is selling for almost half the price of the Gear 360 2017 edition, but the newer model can do live streaming on Facebook.

If you want better pictures, I'd go for the older model. If you want to live stream on Facebook, get the new one.

So the DSLR style 360 cameras are pretty absurdly expensive. You can get the original Gear 360 for really cheap. The Garmin Virb 360 looks really smooth considering it has built in stabilization and you can overlay data like gps position, altitude, speed, etc onto the video making it a really nice action cam. As for high end; Samsung has the 360 round which looks really nice.

He is sponsored by Samsung, and this is taken with the Samsung 360 Camera. This is what a 360 photo looks like before it's stitched.

Thanks for the replies so far.
The Theta S is already quiet high on my wish list now!
Does anyone have experiences with the YI 360 VR https://www.amazon.com/YI-Dual-Lens-Resolution-Electronic-Stabilization/dp/B01CW4C2HU/
or Samsung Gear 360 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01D9LVL3G/ (just stumbled upon the huge discount atm)?
