Great build and parts selection, but I recommend you consider switching the monitor to a freesync monitor. It won't be much of a price jump but the gaming experience will be a massive improvement.

Here's a curved 24 inch Samsung Freesync monitor with good viewing angles and colors for $170

This is what I call the Pre Built Killer, built from my hatred of a bad pre built manufacturer.

This will give you amazing performance for less than 1000 pounds. The best part? No asthetics were sacrificed for performance. Though you could improve upon it with that 250 pounds you mentioned. As for Monitors I use this one for my gaming needs so I can vouch for it's quality. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CX26WPY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JYNUAbRG9AGF5

I'm in a similar thought process here. I play on a 1080p monitor. This one to be exact. I won't be able to get 4k for a while, at least until after I buy a house. but, I mean, i'm thinking if the resolutions are upgraded to a full 1080p, instead of things like dynamic resolution, or in the case of Paragon, a strict 900p, then, YES, the pro is worth it to me!

Now I just have to find $400.

I have two computer monitors for sale

Samsung 24" curved purchased a month ago, basically new with box and cables.

Asus 24" used. works great. still have the box.

u/oijlklll · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I have seen the XF240H and it's a solid deal. The colors would be closer to Asus MG248-levels, so good but not stellar. Good value for the price however.

Not familiar with that ViewSonic model, but I would caution against it. It's a TN panel (you can always tell a TN panel because of the 170°/160° viewing angle). TN panels have worse colors and viewing angles compared to IPS monitors like this. Although that one is curved which some don't like.. the color quality will be leagues beyond that ViewSonic.

Try to stay away from TN monitors. With 144hz monitors, you get a TN panel because you have to - that's the tradeoff you make for the high refresh rate. If you don't get a 144hz monitor, get an IPS variant. Trust me, you will thank yourself down the line.

I'm happened to be looking for monitors with the same requirments like yours. Here's a curved version of that samsung one if you interested.

Trying to decide between these two monitors.

Samsung CF390 24 inch https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01CX26WPY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482102107&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=cf390&dpPl=1&dpID=51YWfnt2F-L&ref=plSrch

Or

Acer KG240 http://www.microcenter.com/product/470186/KG240_24_Full_HD_FreeSync_Display_Monitor

I have an RX480 4GB and do not plan on upgrading for at least ~3-4 years. I play esports games (LoL, Overwatch), open world games (Watch Dogs 2, GTAV) and other FPS (Battlefield 1) as well as a couple of other indie games but i also do some photo/video editing stuff. I just cant decide if the 144hz will be of better benefit over the superior display quality of the Samsung VA panel.
Also, is it possible to play games over 60 fps if the refresh rate is 60hz? Or does it cap at 60?

Any help is appreciated!

Sorry its actually a 24 inch samsung Monitor that runs at 60hz.

If you want a super fast obviously better GPU then get the 2080 gsync or not - but your gonna pay a huge premium of around $800 so why not just get the ti for 200 more, at that point whats it matter. Also your going to pay a huge premium for the monitor (if you go with gsync)

I have been playing PC games for a long time, and the Vega, while slower, will still preform well for a long time. The 2080, longer obviously, but like I said, it's at a price. If it was me and I wasn't an AMD fanboy, I would look at the 1080's, no way I would spend 1k on a video card though :D

Also, do you plan on overclocking the cpu? If yes I would say 80 bucks extra for the 8700k is worth it with an AIO and OC it to 5ghz or just the boost clock. If not, and you do more than just gaming (do you stream), the 2700x is cheaper and will although not be as fast clock for clock, be more than enough for anything you can throw at it. Plus, if you do stream, the 2700x will drop less frames than the 8700k (or so I have heard, you can research).

In my opinion, PC parts change so quickly now that spending 1k on a GPU isn't worth it unless you just want the best of the best. Which, btw I get, its why I sold my 1700 and bought the 2700x, my 1700 was doing more than I needed, but loving pc hardware 300 bucks wasnt that much when I sold the 1700 for 150. I bought Vega because like I said before, I like AMD, and I support the company through buying their products. I could've actually sold it for 900 at one point when I bought it for 500 ROFL. Probably should've done it!

It really comes down to how much money are you willing to put into the system, when both systems will run anything fine (if 4k don't get vega) but if your playing anything below that, they both would be sufficient systems and dream systems for most people :D

Good luck on your decision and let us know! Wanna see some pictures!

This by no means speaks for either system but it was a fun thing me and my buddy did TimeSpy - 2700x + Vega 64 vs 8700k + 2080ti - in games like Black ops 4 I sit between a max of about 160-180 to a low of 110 fps. He obviously sits a bit higher lol :D But he also spent alot more than me. :D

Any monitor with a decent VA panel.

For example, Samsung LC24F390FHNXZA, from what I can tell actual 8bit panel (not 6bit+FRC) and has freesync.

It's curved though.

Hola Gente!
