Sandisk Ultra II 500GB

It obviously hasn't started but a decent price cut on a 500GB SSD would be pretty nice. Depends on how steep the discount is. Probably worth keeping an eye on if you're looking for that sort of thing.

Corsair Carbide 600C

Again, hasn't started, but a decent deal on a case could be good.

Looks like they put the price up last week to try and trick you by making it look like a better deal. Amazon put their price up from £139.99 to £149.99 on the 3rd, and 3rd party sellers put theirs up from £135.97 to £183.46 on the 6th

If I understand your post correctly, you're looking for advice solely on SSD+Case+GPU?

  1. I'd replace the EVO 850 with another SSD. Although it certainly is a great SSD (I own one), there are cheaper alternatives with similar performance.

I also own a Sandisk 500GB and a Mushkin Reactor which are much cheaper and deliver similar performance in my experience. Pricing may differ based on your location though. I'm just saying that overpaying for an EVO isn't worth it IMHO.

  2. Your choice of case is a good one. I haven't touched Mini ITX in a while so I wouldn't have much experience to offer here.

  3. The 570 certainly will be a good GPU. That being said, I'd try finding a cheap 480 if I were you. You might stumble upon a sale from a shop trying to clear out their stock.

Edit: Saw updated EVO price. Good price anywhere near 150EU$

One of the best things you can do to speed up an old PC is to upgrade to an SSD. Obviously you'll get much better performance from the new one, but even video editing strongly benefits from fast read and write speeds. Even on my build, something saved on my SSD renders much faster than something on my 2tb storage drive.
If might be worth a shot to see if it makes a difference. Especially since you can then go and put the SSD in your new build after, so you're not really losing anything.
I would say get something like a Sandisk 500GB SSD. Probably the best bang for your buck right now.
