I've several old IDE (or PATA) drives still running just fine, you don't need to buy another drive or an expensive converter.

Your motherboard has an IDE connector (pic), you just need an IDE cable which should be fairly cheap, if not free. (Go ask one in your local repair shop, they'll probably have a bunch of leftovers from various computer builds).

Now you'll only need to find a SATA to IDE power connector:

and you're set.
