For me it is vintage Sheaffers with inlaid nibs: Targas, Imperials. Quality is hit and miss on the lowest end imperials like the 440, but one of my smoothest nibs is a 440. I have a pair of Intrigues, not vintage but totally worth more than the $85 I paid for each one. I have had my eye on a Legacy, but had no luck so far.
Schneider doesn't make luxury pens, but I wish they made a more expensive version of the Creactiv, a low end italic nib that performs similar to the Lamy 1.1 and uses international cartridges. Unfortunately the tapered shape does not have enough room for some converters and the material and finish is quite cheap.
I am actually quite impressed by the quality of Kaweco pens. Pilot
Perhaps these are not luxury pens, but I think they are all great deals.
