Chiseled Face soaps are on there for $16 each and are absolutely fantastic! Alternately, for about the same price you could get 12 Arko Sticks. For a few extra dollars you could pick up a Semogue Owners Club.

I can't comment on that particular brush, but I can say for certain that the "$100 off" claim is unmitigated BS. WSP's site has the full price at $100. Typical Amazon stuff.

As far as scritchiness, I find WSP's "superfine 2-band silvertip" a little prickly in a short-loft brush. So I'm going to assume that best badger will be much more so.

But since you're locked in to Amazon, consider going for a Prince, Duchess, or Monarch in "premium silvertip" instead. The knot should be much softer.

Another option is to go with boar hair. A good one will be silvertip-soft once it's broken in. I'm a big fan of the Semogue Owners Club, although the Semogue 2000 and the 1250 also get good reviews. (And that's just sticking to the undyed brushes.) For a high-performing budget choice, get the Omega 10049. Even if you end up with a badger brush, it's nice to have a boar brush too.

Some soaps come in large tubs. You can get a good lather from them directly. I'm surprised he doesn't have a brush already. If not, maybe the Semagogue Owner's Club or Omega Pro could work as a practical boar hair brush. Badger will be beyond budget.

This stand is straight razor specific. The website I'm linking to is probably the most popular one here. These soaps are supposed to smell like whisky, but I don't have personal experience with them.

/r/shave_bazaar might get you a good deal.

I like the idea of a scuttle. I don't have one myself, too cheap :), but a lot of guys love theirs. I have heard nothing but good things about Dirty Bird pottery.

Like another person said - kind of skip the stand, it's not necessary. If he really wants one there are a number for sale, just check Amazon.

The razor he is using is pretty decent, not my favorite but certainly solid. You may want to think about getting him an open comb, you can find an antique like a Gillette New (which I personally like) or a Parker 24C (which I have not tried, but Leisureguy seems to like it and I trust his judgment.)

You may consider giving him another brush. I'm not sure what he has now. One brush I really like is the Semogue SOC Boar - it's a larger brush with a beautiful wooden handle. It's also boar, it takes a little while to break in, but once it does it's a pretty amazing brush.
