I just use a regular trash can with a lid. I chose the 11-gallon (well, 10.6) because 13-gallon kitchen trash bags still fit in it just fine, but if a 13-gallon one is full of wet diapers, I have trouble carrying it, but I definitely wanted something larger than a 7-gallon bathroom trash can. Honestly, I don't notice much difference between the trash can and the 13-gallon one in our kitchen.

I also keep my bedroom window open, weather permitting, and spray Febreeze near the trash can if I notice an odor, even if I'm only noticing the odor when I open the trash can to dispose of a freshly removed diaper. In the warmer months, when odors seem to be exacerbated, I also put the wet diapers in super small trash bags and tie them closed. The bags aren't really large enough for a diaper I've been wearing 8 hours, but with the diaper rolled up, and the more open end facing inside the bag, they do well enough. I almost never notice an odor and I definitely was when I was just keeping them in a trash bag that was twisted close.

That said, I'm urinary incontinent and only using diapers for urinating in them. If you're using your diaper for more than that, what I'm doing may not be enough for you.

It comes in multiple colors and looks pretty sharp. A really dedicated dog could chew through the plastic, but the mechanism itself is pretty strong.

Unfortunately the only other place I can put the trashcan would be in the water-heater room (the white door on the left). I could get a thinner trashcan like this and put in in the corner by the entryway, that way it will take less space.

I have a similar one, same brand, as seen here and it's held up well to a very determined dog.

Two minor downsides: since the top of the liner bags have to pull down over the outside of the bin, they are practically begging (ha) to be pulled on and torn up. The lid fits snugly enough that the trash stays inside, but the liners get partially tugged out and mysterious shreds of white plastic appear all over the house.

The other downside is that since the bin I have is plastic vs stainless steel, that same determined dog may chew on the corners in a fruitless attempt to destroy the can in its entirety. The plastic is thick enough that I'm not worried about it being shredded or even warped, but it can be a little unsightly to have tooth marks all over the lid.

Mine has lasted 5 years, is still going strong, and I wish I got it 10 years ago. The trash can, that is. The dog is pushing 15 and still makes an effort to go dumpster diving on a regular basis.

If it helps, these are the ones I have. They work with the Glad kitchen bags well. Maybe you can steer her towards one of these which may be more useful?

Kitchen: This is the one we've had for 9 years. It's awesome because the liner drops in, and has this little hole in the back to tuck extra bag in. That was the feature my husband used to talk me into buying one. Because I thought it was stupid expensive, and would be annoying to buy special bags.

Laundry room: While you can see the liner, it pulls very tight so it doesn't look messy.
