I have an SJ4000 wifi. It has worked out well so far as a dash cam and for videos around the house. The wifi feature hasn't been tested yet, and you can save some money if you don't need that feature. Other than the price, I like that the batteries and external charger are dirt cheap and that being able to Gopro mounts makes it compatible with lots of accessories. I only wish it could support memory cards bigger than 32GB, and that Amazon didn't screw up the shipping with my second 32GB card. If I have any regrets about purchasing it, it's that I couldn't wait for the SJ5000, but I couldn't wait any longer because I was moving and wanted to use it as a dash cam on the moving truck. I had it mounted to the windshield with a Ram Mount that came shipped with a Gopro mount.

The SJ5000 is about to come out which also has wifi, but adds 60 FPSat all resolutions up to 1080P. I may be upgrading from the SJ4000 to the SJ5000 for that 60 FPS.

That's a knockoff of a gopro knockoff. You won't be able to update the firmware on it. Look for the SJCAM brand.

If you just want ultra wide shots you could as well just get a pro or a camera of the like. They are more portable than DSLRs and you get the super wide field of view. Also some of the "copies" like the SJ4000 can be pretty cheap.

The whole advantage of the DSLR is the ability to change lens as needed so it depends if you just have a specific purpose or want something versatile.

I have the xs100, I hate that thing. Couple months ago I bought an SJ4000 from here and it's amazing. Mounts are way better, and it has a screen with a menu and way more options. The mount it uses also fits on pretty much most gopro mounts, so you have all the gopro accessories at your disposal.

I took it to Jamaica with me a couple weeks ago and it performed amazingly

If you haven't checked out the new GoPro budget camera you should take a look, I know you said no GoPros but at $130 USD it's definitely within your budget.

You can get an SJ4000 cam or mobius for under $110. The sj takes better stills and is the same form factor as the gopro, but the mobius does a faster recording framerate (read: Smoother video).
