- Brand new SLR Magic 8mm f4 lens+UV filter
- It is very good for getting Point-Of-View clips thanks to its compact size. Also, in some cases, having a manually-controlled lens can even be an advantage.
- There is a very thin, 3mm-wide de-clicked aperture ring that just turns freely between f/4 and f/16. As the ring is located towards the front part of the lens body, turning the focus wheel causes the aperture to stop down and, in addition, the aperture values are written on the bottom of the lens, making precise aperture adjustments somewhat difficult.
- Lens Type: Wide Angle (not fisheye)
- Lens Mount: Micro Four Thirds

u/carman00 - with the G85 on sale right now for $797.99 (with the kit lens plus a 64GB card and accessories), you can't really beat it on price/performance.
That said, if your budget is $1000 (the usual price of the G85 plus kit lens), you might want to think about saving up a few hundred dollars more for a $1295 Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (plus an inexpensive manual or auto starter lens).
This camera will give you better low light performance, wider dynamic range, superior 10-bit 4:2:2 and 12-bit RAW codecs (the G85 is limited to 8-bit 4:2:0), a built-in XLR jack with phantom power (the G85 is limited to an amateur 3.5mm mic input), dual card slots (SD and CFast2.0), free professional editing software and higher 4K/60p & 1080/60p slow motion frame rates (the G85 is limited to 4K/30p and 1080/60p).
The BMPCC 4K is due to ship later this month.
Here are a few pre-release sample videos shot at 4K in 12-bit losslessly compressed CinemaDNG RAW:
These were shot at 4K in 10-bit ProRes 4:2:2:
If you absolutely need a still camera , a flip screen or in-body stabilization - or if your budget limit is firm at $1000 - you should get the G85.
If not, the BMPCC is the best cinema/video centered camera you can buy in the sub-$1500 price range - and you might kick yourself if you didn't at least consider it.
If you decide to go with the BMPCC 4K, you might also want to subscribe over at r/bmpcc and r/blackmagicdesign - lots of knowledgeable folks there who can help you get the most out of the camera.
I have one on pre-order and expect it in late September or early October.
Hope this is helpful and good luck with upgrading from your iPhone!
