I don't know of any completely wireless surround sound systems (at least not any that don't cost a boatload of money), but there's a way to make any of the speakers in a normal suround system wireless.

This is how I would suggest setting things up (in this case to make the rear speakers wireless):

  1. Get any decent surround system for computers (something like the Logitech Z906).
  2. Get a wireless transmitter/receiver for speakers (something like this).
  3. Connect the rear left speaker to the corresponding left speaker output of the wireless receiver and do the same for the rear right speaker.
  4. Connect the rear left output (located on the back of the sub in this case) to the left input connections on the transmitter and do the same for the rear right speaker.
  5. Connect the front left, right, and center speaker and the subwoofer to your computer as the manual instructs to.
  6. Tadah! You now have a regular surround system in your bedroom with the option to put the rear speakers anywhere you want.

Optional step: If you want your front speakers to connect wirelessly as well, just get another transmitter/receiver and repeat steps 3 and 4 above for the front left & front right speakers.

Well it pains me to link this.. SoundCast System

Just hold $145 in your hands and wonder if the walls would look really that bad with some wire running across them.

When I setup a 5.1 system a few years ago I went with a SoundCast from Amazon. I figured it was worth not going through the hassle.

Now I'm running wire along the baseboard molding for the surround, as it would drop out often enough to be annoying. Didn't help that the Windows 7 sound setup (for some odd reason) would switch from 5.1 rear to 5.1 side, cutting it out.
