I used to use this Startech one all the time, since it has an extra USB 3.0 port built in for passthrough:

I use LAN, mostly because I had an extra USB3 ethernet dongle laying around, and I prefer to have things wired.

Works on anything that has a usbA port, and you can carry an A to C port so pretty much no matter what you're doing, you can boot either to PXE or USB.
