Many folks have already given good advice here about douching out (no soap, warm water, etc.). I'd add that if you DO use a shower shot, as someone suggested, be careful with respect to the water pressure. To much too fast can injure you.
Personally, I prefer this:

It's portable, easy to use, and easy to care for.
Now, with regard to being penetrated, there are 4 basic rules:
1.) There is no such thing as "too much" lube.
2.) LOTS of foreplay & prep should be done to get you ready. A good top will take his time making sure you're good and relaxed, and in the mood. This can include rimming, anal massage, fingering, and toys. Find what works for you guys, and use it. Preferably with lots of lube.
3.) Relax! If you're stressed out about it hurting, then you're going to clench up -- which will, of course, make it hurt. Relax and breathe. And use lots of lube.
4.) Take it SLOW (at first). Your sphincter will need time to adjust to the feeling of having your man's cock in there. He should go very slowly, to give you time to adjust. He should only speed up when YOU are finally comfortable with him being in there, and you tell him it's ok to go faster. Not before. And remember lots of lube.
IMPORTANT: There are a number of products on the market (for example, AnalEAze) that are made to desensitize your anus during anal play. I strongly urge you to stay away from them. When you're doing it right, anal sex should NOT be painful. Pain tells you that something is wrong, so if you use something to dull or eliminate the pain you're experiencing, there's a very real risk of injuring yourself because you can't feel that something is wrong.
Finally, I cannot recommend this book enough:

Hope this helps!
