Definitely. The late Jim McCawley is often cited as the father of scatolinguistics. There was a journal Maledicta dedicated to the study, and you can find other papers on the linguistics of profanity in Jim's Festschrift Studies out in Left Field. These three papers are in this book and were written by Jim himself (under pseudonym).

Here's one paper McCawley wrote (again under pseudonym) for Maledicta.

(Edit: This is not really important, but my memory of Spanish was that polla was a slang term for penis. La Real Academia Española agrees:

>polla
>> 3. f. malson. pene.

Pollo doesn't seem to have that sense, at least in the Spanish prescribed by RAE. But that might be dialectical or something.

Also, for what it's worth the OED says of cock in the sense of 'penis' : In origin perhaps intimately connected with sense 12.: "A spout or short pipe serving as a channel for passing liquids through, and having an appliance for regulating or stopping the flow; a tap.")
