I installed the OEM roof rack for my Impreza. Plus, I finally installed the LED light strip that /u/cuterocky recommended. Bonus: the roof rack came with a nice torx driver.

I'm in the same boat as you, 2012 Impreza hatch. Last season I just threw skis/snowboards in the back, but I'm looking into making things a bit more comfortable for my passengers this season. Looked on the Thule website, and the crossbars alone are $500+ so this looks pretty good.
you need the fixed crossbar set from subaru. it's made by thule and exact same parts as the set bought from thule but like 1/3rd the price at about $175-ish
