There is one component input section.
It has three color component inputs and two audio component inputs to match the 5 plugs on the component cable I have.

I bought this TV, or one extremely similar to it, from Amazon about two years ago. I was a little nervous when I bought it because I'd never really heard of TCL before, but I love this TV. My two college roommates and I split the cost of the TV and I bought out their shares at the end of the year so I could keep it for myself. I use it exclusively for my Xbox one and the 1080p picture is beautiful and has absolutely no video lag. After two years of pretty heavy use, I've had absolutely no problems with it and am really glad I saved a bunch of money going with this TV instead of a bigger name brand.
TLDR: In my opinion, this TV should be perfect for you, 40", 1080p, no video lag, and pretty cheap!

I've owned a 39 inch TCL tv for the last 3 years without issue and that's with heavy duty daily use. Beautiful tv.

Under $300
Better deal. Then go buy a roku 3 and make it a smart TV. Or pair with a Chromecast.
Tcl is a top 3 brand in China. Uses a Samsung panel, I believe. And has a very thin bezel.
Sound isn't the greatest, but most TVs nowadays have sub par sound. With the money you save, buy a decent surround sound system or sound bar.
I actually ended up getting this TV: http://www.amazon.com/TCL-LE40FHDE3010-40-Inch-1080p-Black/dp/B00BP5N498/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408472796&sr=8-1&keywords=tcl+40+inch+tv , when it was on sale for $250. Really nice contrast, and 1080p, but I am still having trouble finding the perfect settings, and the base is quite cheap. Overall I am happy with it, and would recommend it if you can find it around that price.
I bought this one about three months ago.

After figuring out that you need a VGA/DVI cable to properly use the TV with a computer, it ended up being a very wonderful purchase.
There are clearly better TVs out there, but this one was perfect for me while on a budget.
So there is this

and if you can afford it I highly recommend this one as its the best price for a 50 inch 120Hz. If you can save up its totally worth it. I own this one and I have had it for 4 years. Its amazing.
