> A system that is set up by rich, powerful, landowners only benefits people of the same social class.
Such a simplistic and yet dead-on explanation of why the Constitution isn't the end-all be-all of perfection in a government.
(Story time. I was literally brain-washed into being a Libertarian by my Godfather. He used to talk politics to me when I was a wee little lad, far before I knew how to do my own research, and I took his word as gospel. It led me to reading THIS book, which basically claims that the Constitution was a divine miracle. I recommend reading it to anyone who wants to get a good idea of what every single socialist is up against. Sorry, rant over.)
I read this last year and it was fantastic.

I don't think anyone has listed the 5000 Year Leap. I had not read it because my understanding was it was somewhat a rebelling of Discovery. http://www.amazon.com/5000-Year-Leap-Original-Authorized/dp/0880801484
If anyone wants to understand how the tea party views the constitution (not the crazy racist hate spewing peeps, but the more small gov't / ron paul types), I'd recommend reading 5,000 year leap. It should be a quick read for a redditer. Super interesting.
