They're pretty rare to come across in my corner of the states. I bought this for my wife when we were still dating, and she loved it, so for that Christmas, I bought her the rest of the series, then discovered the Deptford Mice series via Amazon's customer's also bought feature. At the time, these weren't released in the US yet, so I bought them all through Amazon UK and had them shipped over. After she read them all, she donated them to our local library so others could enjoy them as well since the library only had one or two copies of The Alchemist Cat in their system.
Unfortunately, I've not personally read the books, but my wife raved about them.
