IMAX can be shown at 4K, however it has a resolution up to 10,000 by 7,000 pixels depending on the format.

Also, I was thinking more in terms of film-to-digital resolution, not necessarily the projection resolution.

A 35mm standard film print is approximately equivalent in size to 4K, while a 65/70mm IMAX film print is approximately equivalent in size to 8K. Source: The Filmmaker's Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide to the Digital Age.

Of course, new digital technologies will only extend our ability to capture even higher resolution images at less expensive prices.

Is this a good book for cinematography? https://www.amazon.de/Filmmakers-Handbook-Comprehensive-Digital-English-ebook/dp/B008JHXQYS/ref=sr_1_7?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&keywords=filmmaker&qid=1564738971&s=gateway&sr=8-7 I am reading it right now, 20% in, and it's a bit too consumer-friendly, not cinematography related at all. How to press the record button... or what is focal length.

The first step is to educate yourself on the filmmaking process. I'm sure there are other great ones, but the first books that I found useful were A Filmmaker's Handbook and Moviemaker's Master Class. Then just start shooting and editing shit with your phone if nothing else. Pretty soon, you'll start watching films and tv differently than you did before and start developing more of a filmmaker's eye. Then get involved in filmmaking groups in your area and voluteer to crew if you want to go that far with it. Then when you bring it back to the acting side after doing it awhile, Secrets of Screen Acting will seem like mere common sense! haha
