My kids had a really hard time with sippy cups too. I've tried them myself and you really need a lot of suction to get anything out. I finally stumbled across the take-and-toss cups, which seemed easier to drink out of. So I threw out all the bottles and offered take n toss cups.

That worked for us. You could also consider switching to regular cups. That's what people did in my mother's generation. I'm living proof that children can learn to drink from a real cup at 2yo.

My kid did not like any of the fancy cups we tried. To this day (he is over 2 now) he still prefers to drink out of the semi-disposable take and toss kind that they use at daycare. I actually love them because they are super easy to clean in the dishwasher and I don't mind throwing them away if they get forgotten/rank.

These have been a great success in our house. They're also SUPER cheap.

You can get the Take & Toss sippy cups. They're not 100% spill-proof, but they are pretty spill-resistant, from our experience. Bonus: they're extremely inexpensive so if you destroy them somehow, you don't lose out on much if you toss them (hence the name).

I have so much experience with sippy cups lol. My son has sensory issues and straw cups do not work well, and he cannot drink out ofa normal cup.

The ones that we started with were these. They are great for just starting out. Nice handle, easy to clean, etc.

Ones that I love are Gerber. They have a very large insert that does not get lost and they do not leak.

Ones that I think are okay are Playtex and The First Years. Playtex are nice because the spout doesn't get gross (my son bites the spout of his cups), but they do leak a little bit if your child is like mine and shakes the cup upside down. The insert is easily lost but they sell replacements. The First Years are nice the first two months you use them, but they get gross. The spout has a little rubber part that cannot be removed, and it eventually grows mold. They also eventually will leak pretty badly because the spout gets stretched out.

I do not like the take and toss cups. Some people swear by them but they leak like crazy, and my son would just bite the lid off and dump whatever was in them everywhere.

Kids can be very fussy about which sippy cup they'll use. My wife got all the fancy cool-looking full-featured ones, and my son wouldn't touch them. The only one he would use was this bare-bones thing which I think she got at Dollar Tree, and definitely looked like it. Have fun with the kiddos! Before I link my fun stuff, I'm going to recommend a couple practical things- like making sure there is nothing harmful within arms reach- maybe an under the sink cupboard with bleach, or other cleaning supplies- It may be good to move them before they come so you don't have to worry about it.

Now for the fun stuff!

I'm assuming they will come wiht their own, but just in case, some fun kitchen supplies will make meal time go a bit easier. I've seen them in dollar stores and they're super easy- freeze lemonade, or their favorite juice and it becomes dessert!

Also, check into getting some kid music to jam to. There are all kinds of free tracks on Amazon. Those will be fun for both the kiddos and make any car rides that much more enjoyable, or playing in the house. Another idea may include dress up. You don't have to have anything in particular- maybe an old pair of heels, a sheet for a cape, big necklaces, a wand or funny hat. That could be fun!

Bedtime stories! Do you have any children's books? Those are awesome for not only bedtime but down time. Also, coloring books, play doh, and puzzles are also good to keep them sitting down in one place for a while! ;)

You could also make puppets using markers and brown paper bags! If you have the grocery size, you can even make masks. This could also be as complicated as you want or as resources allow, using yarn for hair, googly eyes, and other materials.

The baby might be a bit trickier to entertain. How about fun bath toys? A mirror is also something that can hold attention for quite a while.

Back to the older kiddo, how about making your own instruments? I take old plastic drink containers (2 liter pop bottles, or juice jugs, or whatever) and fill them with all kinds of noise makers. Beads might be too dangerous to have around with teh little one, but pop can tabs, or pennies, or other objects that can fit, even paper clips, are lots of fun. Make sure to keep the lid so you can close it and shake it up and down! It's also fun to decorate the outsides with stickers.
