Indeed! As a kid in the 80s my siblings and watched the heck out of the original! Disney had a few other movies of that type(voiceover and narrated animals) from the 60's too, like Charlie the Lonesome Cougar.
Just re-watched the '93 remake a few weeks ago -- which I've actually always liked as well, largely because I'm a big MJ Fox fan. After watching I ordered the DVD version of the original, in fact.
