The religious Islamo- part has pretty much died over the thousands of years and space travel (the Fremen aren't exactly following the five pillars of Islam), but I can see some of the -mystic parts in the Fremen ritual prayers. I don't really associate the Bene Gesserit with either parts, except with just a smidgen of the -mystic in the Kwisatch Haderach goal. When they used mysticism in the Missionaria Protectiva, it was as a manipulative tool to be used on others rather than a spiritual one for themselves. And they would have used different religious influences tailored to the different planets when implementing the MP. When it comes to the Bene Gesserit I think more of Christian nuns - they have a history of having royal and politically useful members in their ranks.

It looks like the Lesley Blanch book is The Sabres of Paradise, which is about Imam Shamil and how he led a bunch of Caucasian groups against the Russian Empire. Overall I'm getting more of a feeling for Paul's time in the desert (the gap between Muad'dib and The Prophet where he gets a following, trains the Fedaykin, leads a bunch of raids, has his first kid with Chani...) rather than Bene Gesserit.
