Screw the Great White. I'm a SCUBA diver... I don't care about Great Whites. They're more likely to turn and run when they see you (assuming they don't think you're a seal, which is very unlikely). Basically, Great Whites don't give a damn about you - you're a big bony fish that isn't in their food chain. In fact (where you live depending) if you have been swimming at any point there was likely a Great White close by who knew you were there... and didn't care in the slightest.

Now... the Oceanic White Tip? That's scary. The only shark known to actively hunt divers and draw them away from their boats (documented by Jacques Cousteau) and is unofficially credited with the most human kills of any shark (from taking shipwreck/plane crash survivors).

That shark is fucking scary. Thankfully there are very few instances of them attacking humans close to shore, they seem to be deep sea hunters.

Edit: Shark - Splendid Savage of the Sea by Jacques Cousteau for anyone interested. An absolutely fantastic read/contains the story I referenced above.

Jacques Cousteau's Shark:Splendid Savage of the Sea. My grandfather was a charter boat captain and had an endless supply of stories about the sea. This was his book.
