I read The Shipwreck that Saved Jamestown this year. Pretty good, although about a very specific settlement during a very brief timespan, I learned a lot about how Britain settled and (tried to) support the colonies and just how much could and did go wrong as England tried to get a foothold in America. Also, Barbados!
