Tide at Sunrise is the book to read, AFAIK. Its a bit older and a bit dense though, I wouldnt quite call it "light reading." However, the book features one of the best images I have ever seen in any book. One of the last images in its plates is a picture of the vodka dump at Port Arthur, a mountain of boxes many times the size of a man. Insane.

This is probably the best book to start with. This is also good.
