The Dagger and Coin by David Abraham was my summer fantasy series this year. It was really good. I was fairly impressed with it over all.

Greg Keyes is a fantastic writer who doesn't get a lot of attention, in my opinion. His two series are Age of Unreason, starting with Newton's Cannon, and Kingdom of Thorn and Bone.

Gene Wolfe's The Wizard Knight is a good 2 book series. Complete with unreliable narrator.

Finally, Carol Berg's Rai Kirah series is a personal favorite.
