I like this one (though I can't remember which size it is off hand). It fits in this small backpack I have. For reference, I have an a6000 and it can fit the body, the 4 lenses I own (one of which is a pancake), and a whole bunch of small junk like batteries, sd cards, release cable, microfiber cloth, rocket blower, cpl, nd, step up rings, etc.

All that said, I use it mainly for transporting things. It's not super quick to get things in and out of because I usually put things on top of it in my bag, but I usually just pick a lens for a situation and don't change it. It's quick enough for me but I'm not a pro who needs to be quick on the draw or anything. Just an ordinary dude who likes taking pictures.

I use my everyday backpack with this Timbuk2 insert. This insert fits perfect in my non Timbuk2 backpack, but it is specifically designed for many of their packs. Messenger bags included.

Not ideal for needing to get things in/out quickly, but great for getting from point A to point B and setting up. This insert is fantastic.

For times where I need to get access quickly and be able to put away quickly, I use a Lowepro bag. Not the most stylish, but it's practicality is far more important to me in specific situations. Check out some of their bags.

I came across the same problem when I got my nice DSLR and realized that camera bags are either too ugly or waaaay out of my budget. My solution was to get something similar to this and use an old bag that i have. That way, I'm still carrying around one of my own bags and my camera is nice and safe :)

I'm not sure what you are referring to. I imagined when you said diaper bag, you were referring to the bulkiness of most camera bags, but apparently not. Oh well.

You may want to look into something like a timbuk2 messenger bag (it's a great bag) with a camera insert. Good luck.

I much prefer carrying my camera (usually a 5D or 7D) in a messenger bag. Timbuk2 makes a really nice insert that is practical in a variety of bags.

Having a messenger bag/insert setup let's me take as little or as much as I need. And if I'm off the bike, now I have something to carry the camera in.
