Are you sure it is xerosis (simple dry skin), did a doctor diagnose that? Flaking in the creases often denotes irritation from harsh products, or a mild case of seborrhoeic dermatitis. The body can sacrifice the top layer of skin in a desperate attempt to protect itself. Given you have a history of dermatitis you should be being gentle on your skin barrier. There are many things that can cause or contribute to perioral dermatitis: over cleansing and over exfoliating are potential culprits as are the sulphate surfactants in dental care products.

If [these] (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tisserand-Tree-Deep-Cleansing-Skin/dp/B000LI9R3M) are the correct ingredients, you are scrubbing a harsh foaming wash INTO your skin on a regular basis. The Tisserand product is loaded with irritating essential oils and ALS which is one of the harshest anionic surfactants because it is a small molecule so can penetrate and disrupt the barrier function and denature structural proteins. It's twin sister SLS can thin, dehydrate and irritate the skin at concentrations as low as 1%, when in contact with the skin for just ten minutes. These surfactants are unable to distinguish between surface lipids and structural lipids.

A Clarisonic is best used once or twice a week with the extra gentle head and an extra gentle cleanser (based on ingredients and pH not marketing claims). I'm not clear if you used the Clarisonic on the perioral dermatitis, I hope not.
