A Wireless bridge is what you are asking for and is relatively easy to setup. I personally use a TEW-647GA to hook up old pc or gaming consoles to my wireless N connection.

What model printer do you have? If it truely does have wireless printing, then you should be able to configure it via USB and have it connect automatically to your wireless network.

all the USB-based plug-n-play adapters are around $50. not much you can do there except keep your eyes peeled for a sale. the white ones are older, and do 802.11b/g/a, the dual-antenna black ones are newer, and do 802.11b/g/a/n.

you can, however, find Ethernet bridges for much less, but they are generally harder to set up. Amazon has one for $30. Newegg has many as well.

of course the easiest (but far from cheapest) solution is to buy a new Xbox, as they all have WiFi built-in now.

It's been a minute since I've done network-sharing like that on Windows (way back in Win7, IIRC). However, you could just use a wireless game adapter to get the NAS connected over WiFi:

You can get those common WRT54G routers for like $10 on eBay if you need to test it. It looks like your dad got a wireless N router, which may not be entirely compatible with the Xbox wireless adapter perhaps? You could try something like this, but I think you're best bet is trying a hardwire first, and if that works going with the Powerline adapter.

I use this wireless network adapter from Trendnet. Their customer service is really great. This has a power cord and a female network jack. That way, you can simply plug directly from it to your XBox with a simple networking cable.

I wanted to recommend this.

You connect it to your PC with an ethernet cable and a USB cable for power, and set up your network information through a web interface. Then you are connected to your wireless network as if you are using a cable. Depending on your computer, it can even speed up your connection, as it "outsources" the processing overhead of WLAN encryption, error correction and such.

I'm quite surprised that they are so expensive in the US, though. I bought mine a few months ago for less than 30€.

[edit] This seems to be very similar, and slightly cheaper.

That would work. But it’s a bit overkill and a bunch of configuration.

A wireless gaming adapter will do the job easily. It’s made to connect to your WiFi and provide an Ethernet port to connect to.

Just for example. I know nothing about this particular unit.

I used to use a USB Wifi Adapter ( https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Wireless-Gaming-Adapter-TEW-647GA/dp/B0024G48VA ) for over 6 years. It was perfect. Never dropped a connection, was able to stream 1080p video to PS3, and capped my download/upload from Comcast (10 meg a sec down, 2 meg a sec up)

Pings in game were normal and same as everyone else. For some reason people are deathly afraid of gaming on a wifi adapter.
