Optional - My gf and I were spending a few days with friends at a cabin. We were the first to arrive and grabbed our room. Not wanting to waste the opportunity we start to get to it, only to discover that I had not packed condoms. Had to sheepishly call my roommate who was coming up the next morning to bring some.

Here's my recommendation. You could try and manage a 1080p 144Hz system, but I don't know that your budget allows it. You could always change it up so that the Monitor, GPU, or CPU better supports it, but I'd say just go with the following. It's nice to start out modest with a new hobby. This should give a great 1080p 75Hz experience.

The CPU and motherboard are from Microcenter. They may price match, so you could try and get some more of the list there. The Ryzen 1600 is a the best value CPU for 1080p with the included monitor, no doubt. Should have no issue getting 75Hz in nearly all games. You could go with a 2600 or 3600, but your monitor will bottleneck it from mattering much in games.

The 1660Ti pairs well with a Ryzen 1600. GPU price to performance gets pretty bad beyond this point, and much better than this will be bottlenecked by the monitor.

I chose white RGB RAM, a white case, and added some RGB case fans. These are optional (might want at least one fan though), but it seems like you might like them. Just set your RGB to blue to get the color scheme you're looking for.

I like fully-modular PSUs because custom sleeved cables are a nice upgrade if you get the itch. If you'd like something immediate, I believe Corsair sells a white PSU with white cables out of the box.

512GB is a good option for a boot drive, 256GB SSDs are kind of overpriced.

The G305 is a popular wireless mouse for FPSs. Comes in white too. It's a smaller mouse, I'd research what works best for your mouse grip (I'm a claw grip and like the small, egg shape).

I just chose a white, brown switch keyboard. Feel free to shop around there, but I'd steer you away from blue switches.

I believe you can get Windows for free as a student.
