I personally really liked the CX series of Sennheisers. They have a warm sound that goes nicely with the darker kind of rock/metal you're talking about, but they are crisp enough for acoustic too. The CX300s are good for that feel. Again, the UE Super Fi 5s are a good, clean, all-around headphone that will satisfy all of those bands (and the Amazon deal is worth checking out, they normally run you about $150). I just wasn't blown away by the bass in the UEs. T-jays are a possibility too - $99 on EarphoneSolutions. I've never heard them, but their more premium counterpart, the Q-jays, are a solid phone like the UE Super Fi 5s.

TL;DR - fun, dynamic, rich: CX300s. all-around solid, crisp, sparkling: UE SF5s.
