utechsmart venus, it's quite a nice mouse for the price and I've been happy with it so far. Very durable, it's been through a lot of use for almost a year now and looks like it did the day i got it.

u/Foshkey · 9 pointsr/ffxiv

Or any MMO mouse! Not here to bash Razer (Naga is a really nice mouse), but for a budget, you can easily find a decent MMO mouse for $30.

I use this one ($38 atm). Combined with modifier keys (I use Alt, Shift, and Alt-Shift), you have 48 actions readily available.

u/ItCanAlwaysGetWorse · 8 pointsr/wow

just to give you an idea or some inspiration, this is my setup:

I play Beast Master, a ranged DD
W - forward
S - backward
A - strafe left (not turn)
D - strafe right (not turn)
note: I dont have keybindings for turning around, I use the mouse for that by holding right mouse button

1 - one of the main abilities I use all the time
2 - main ability for AoE
3 - 6 utility abilities like stun, slow, misdirection etc. - situational abilities that I dont need all the time.

Q - one of the main abilities
E - one of the main abilities
I also bound the following keys:
R
F
C

All keybinds except C also have a Shift and/or Ctrl modifier.
My essential keybinds are Q, E, R, 1 and 2 by themselves and also with Shift held down, that's 10 keybinds.

to be fair, I also bought a cheapo 35€ MMO-mouse which has 12 thumb buttons, those are mostly utility skills or things like pre-pot, health potion/healthstone, keybind for mounting up etc. BUT I also have 1 important ability on there: my interrupt.

I also use OPie to further decrease the amount of keybinds I need for all the things I wanted to access relatively fast. On my OPie rings I also just use stuff I dont need in the middle of the combat, because using OPie in combat takes too long.

Now your question regarding movement: While holding W with my middle finger, I can easily press 1, 2 and Q with my ring finger. 3-6, which I usually dont need while moving forward, can still be accessed with the index finger easily enough.
While holding D with my index finger, I use my middle finger to press Q, E, R and 1-4.
While holding A with my ring finger, I use my middle finger to press Q, 1 and 2. I use my index finger for E, R, F and 3-6.
You will need to twist your wrist to reach certain keybinds while pressing others simultaneously, but this is really not a problem.

Also might be worth noting: F is also a utility keybind for me, not part of my damage rotation. F is my movement skill (disengage for Hunters, Blink for mages etc.) while Shift + F is my self-heal. C is just my move pet command.

Honestly i used to do stuff like this all the time. But it still felt way too busy for me. So i bought a mouse with 12 buttons on the side as i play a lot of mmos. It's honestly so nice i only use my keyboard for WASD, CTRL, ALT and Shift. Everything else is bound to my mouse. I could never go back now.

If you're looking to get one i recommend (like many) the Razer Naga. Or if you're on a budget (Like me) I found this one on amazon:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/UtechSmart-Programmable-programmable-Customizing-Manufacturers/dp/B00FNKMVUO

It does the job and I've no complaints with it. It even comes with it's own program so you can change the macros on it.

I took a chance on this $30 dollar mouse and I will have to say it is completely worth 30 dollars. I've used and abused it for close to 2 years now and the only actual complaint I have for it is the fact that it only has one mouse button near the left click instead of the two that the naga has. I got used to it but really for $30 I really can't complain a whole lot.

u/c-span_celebrity · 4 pointsr/editors

I'm using the utech venus I bought on a whim as a cheap knock off Logitech G600.

Love it! But when I replace it I'll spend the extra for Logitech. Utech doesn't have full support on OSX so if you want to update any of your short cut buttons you have to use a PC. Once updated they transfer... but you know the whole command vs control doing different things in your software on the different operating systems. You can get a work-around for a bunch but not all.

The 12 buttons on the side are over kill. I'd prefer 6 bigger ones that'd I'd be more accurate with, but it's a pretty minor complaint for this mouse saving me literally 30+ mins a day of repetitive keystrokes... oh god zooming in and out of the timeline in Media Composer is just a thumb click

u/TurquoiseLuck · 3 pointsr/GuildWars

>I'm lazy and use the mouse for 90% of my movement

That's why I have one of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FNKMVUO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3Q3DD757Z3IWE&psc=1

Just use all the buttons on the side, and use WASD, c, tab, and spacebar.

I think they're good but inexpensive

u/Petra_Abelli · 3 pointsr/ffxiv

I second this, I've been using the Naga for years now and don't think I would ever want to go back. Razer has had the market to themselves for a long time, but I stumbled upon these while looking for the naga and g600 links. It's good to see that there's some competition coming in the market, but I couldn't tell you if these two are worth getting.

I have this mouse. It regularly goes on sale for $30 or so. It's not a big brand, but hasn't failed me yet (have had it for a few years now) and the extra buttons are fantastic.

He's going to have a rough time getting both a many-buttoned mouse and headset for $50 though, at least if he wants anything of quality. A good headset can run that or more on its own.

This is it! My brother bought a new mouse a little while ago, this must have come with it. It is a UntechSmart Venus MMO gaming mouse. Of course when I asked him what this thing was he had no idea... Thank you!

If you have or can order something like this, I think it would be pretty easy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_EkyWBb7JPRB0T

Set your hotkeys to the number pad along with jump and you can use mouse movement for character control. I use this control scheme with wasd movement but it could easily be modified for one handed use.

u/MrRado · 3 pointsr/wow

If you're not wanting a full keypad - Logitech Proteus - $50 US

If you do like full keypads - Logitech G600 - $53 US

Logitech does pretty good with their mice. While I like the Razer Naga better in use, the G600 is more durable in my experience.

That said, there's plenty of less known brands for cheaper prices that still have decent ratings such as the UtechSmart Venus - $39 US

It's a knockoff of the g600.

I have owned a Naga and a G600. Both are fine. But honestly I am using this $30 one now for the past year and it works great.

Definitely not enough buttons for me on those.

Try a 18-button gaming mouse like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16826816068
Or this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_CrL4AbDW3358E

If anyone knows of something with more buttons hmu.

It's so great to have modifiers on your thumb. Shift click drag, and then alt click ripple edits all day.

Thumb buttons:

Alt

  • Zoom in

  • zoom out

    Shift

    J rewind

    L forward

    Enter render

    Shift-E (en/disable)

    Ctrl Z undo

    V (pointer)

    C (razor)

    A (track selection)

My wheel button is set to spacebar, my dpi up arrow is Ctrl (use for paste with c and v thumb buttons), my dpi down arrow is save.

I also use a Logitech g-13 on left hand with thumbstick mouse and mostly the same macros plus buttons for delete/paste/copy/cut/up/down/save/render/j/k/l/i/o/c/v/a/x/marker/space/

And then some more advanced macros such as one button for (razor here, select forward, cut selection, select gap, delete gap), another the same except (razor select backward, cut, select/delete gap), and then I use (ctrl-shift-v paste insert) on the timeline above.

Macros are awesome. Just don't get lost in button wonderland. Or do. Actually, do. It's so worth it. Wonderland is awesome.
u/zushiba · 2 pointsr/IAmA

Wow that was way more information that I had anticipated. It's clear that you've given it a lot of thought.

Honestly as a somewhat fully enabled person myself, I had problems with The Witcher 3 on launch too. I just couldn't wrap my head around some of the default key binds and was happy that I could change them.

I know that WoW somewhat recently added a lot of color blind options for I think the 3 most common types of color blindness. I have no idea how successful they are.

Have you looked into any of the crazy MMO specific mice? There's a few that I'd think would be almost perfect for a usecase such as yours. The Roccat NYTH is fully modular, letting you place the physical buttons in different configurations, remove buttons or add different sized buttons. Then there's those mice with a hundred buttons on the side like the UtechSmart Venus or the Razer Naga. One of those might help you eliminate your keyboard turning. Though, we've had people in our raids that for one reason or another needed to use the keyboard rather than their mice and they seemed to do just fine. I think the whole "Keyboard turning" vs "Mouse Turning" is a similar argument to keyboard & Mouse vs Console Controller.

The reason I ask is not only do I have friends who've been in somewhat similar situations, thought not quite as extreme and because in my line of work I have to implement measures to support people with different abilities.

I'm a programmer at a college who's currently interim webmaster until we find a new one and I have to implement 508 Compliance.

u/NOLAEducator · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

I bought this a couple of weeks ago on the recommendation of someone in game. I love it so far. He said he’s had his for over a year with no problems.

u/Pyromaniac34 · 2 pointsr/gaming

So, my suggestion to you, get 2 Stinky Boards that you control with your feet. That's 8 buttons which should mostly make up for the loss of major left hand use.

Then get a mouse with lots of buttons like the Logitech G502, Utech Venus, or the Razer Naga line.

It will definitely take some getting used to, but you probably wouldn't need to give up any of the games you love.

The last recommendation I have to further expand your ability to control games with minimal left hand usage is Voice Attack Which lets you program in (assuming someone hasn't built a profile already) sequences of key presses and other things that respond to your voice. When properly set up, it works amazingly for games like Elite: Dangerous when I'm in VR and can't really see the keyboard to use those controls.

Best of luck to you, and hopefully you regain full functionality soon.

u/dieterschaumer · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

It looks remarkably similar in overall design to my cheap MMO mouse in aesthetic design, yet is from a different chinese company. Knockoffs of knockoffs?

I can't speak for a mouse I don't own, but incidentally I'm very happy with the oddly named Venus. I got it for ~$30 and the grippy material they cover the mouse with feels cheap, but otherwise everything is very functional. Comes with replacement teflon pads too. Don't know how long it will last, but the reviews are very good.

u/PardonMyLagg · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I would recomend my daily driver the UtechSmart Venus MMO Mouse witch is $37 USD its really good quality and has a lot of the same features of the naga, g600 and scimitar.

if you dont get the above one id probably go for the scimitar.

u/Skylerys · 2 pointsr/wow

I have the same issue with hand and arm pain. Few weeks ago I got this mouse https://www.amazon.com/UtechSmart-Precision-Programmable-Computer-Recommendation/dp/B00FNKMVUO?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 and it is awesome. Really great build quality and price. I snagged it for $25 on sale. My friend also has it and loves it.

Not sure about games per se, but I have this mouse that could help with the 1 hand thing: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_iOyDCb59X0968

I have this mouse at home and wouldn’t trade it for anything. You can program every button to do basically whatever you’d like. You could play an FPS with it if you really wanted to by mapping the side buttons to WASD.

u/Chaliandra · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Yep the Dell s2716dg, its an excellent monitor. I upgraded from 1080p @ 60hz to this one, and its WOW. Its like night and day, the system normally runs games at 130+ fps, so having a monitor that refreshes at that speed is astounding. The only thing is that the monitor is a TN panel, so you get that wierd discoloration if you look at it from an angle. But I never play games with my monitor at a 90 degree angle, so i'm good. Haha.

Most of my games (Overwatch, Skyrim, Diablo III, Dota2) run at 130+ fps, with CPU intensive games like Watch Dogs 2 and Battlefield 1 at around 110 fps at stock CPU speed (3.8ghz). I OC'd it to 4.8ghz recently and it brought my fps in Battlefield 1 to around 130-142 fps, but also raised my temps from the mid 50s to mid 70s.

The mouse is a RGB MMO gaming mouse and the keyboard is the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate edition, which I'm planning on replacing sometime this year with a keyboard with RGB lighting (the blue doesn't really work with my red computer scheme, lol)

u/NostalgiaDad · 2 pointsr/classicwow

This fits a full sized laptop with a number pad and room to use my gaming mouse. This is what I've been using for a mouse. It's even better for healers imo but also works well for hunters and melee dps. Putting different heal ranks or traps and shots on different mouse number rows really free'ed up my bars

There are tons of different ones. Besides what have already been mentioned:

The top-rated UtechSmart Venus: https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-Mouse-UtechSmart-Venus-Precision/dp/B00FNKMVUO

The Redragon Perdition: https://www.amazon.com/Perdition-Redragon-High-Precision-Computer-Programmable/dp/B00GU8W5AE

The Havit MMO mouse: https://www.amazon.com/HV-MS735-12000DPI-Programmable-Optical-PMW3360/dp/B01DW2VQ5A

Those are some more options besides the G600. Redragon has excellent reviews. All the mice I've listed above have excellent reviews. All you have to do is choose. :)

There's also the Logitech G602. The 602 is more comfortable for me as I can't stand the ring finger rest on MMO mice. The 602 can also use 1 or 2 AA batteries for weight purposes which lasts for months. Further, the 602 has several extra buttons up top, one of which can be used as a shift button to turn those 6 side buttons into 12.

u/Nekryyd · 2 pointsr/GamerGhazi

Well, since KBM = Godmode...

Why not just enable KBM support by default on console?

For about the same price as a new controller you could hunt around and find a playable KBM set up.

Even in the article you cite, the game's director only says that it should be either/or, he does not rule out KBM. He only says that if a console is going to have KBM input, it should be plug and play and equally accessible.

BTW:

> There's no major difference between a $20 mouse and a $200 mouse except some more buttons, a few LEDS and the branding.

You are drawing the absolutely wrong comparison. Some products are all about branding and style and are definitely WAY overpriced (ahem), but there is a distinct difference between playing on this, and this(anti-ghosting is more important at really high competitive levels and players can be picky about an AG layout, but it's less important than the fact that mechanical keys offer much better options for tactile feedback and are almost universally more precise). And a MASSIVE difference between this and this. That gaming mouse has SIX TIMES (including scroll wheel button) the amount of buttons as the normal mouse. This is literally the difference between going from the face buttons of an original NES controller to the number of buttons and triggers on modern controllers. Sure, you could try and cluster as many functions as close to your left hand as possible, but having them all right at your thumb is a massive difference, to say nothing of the on-the-fly DPI adjustments that many gaming mice have (EG - most commonly used to instantly switch between high and low sensitivity settings for better sniping).

I personally have a blue-switch KB that is immensely satisfying to type on and is great for gaming (particularly when doing something, like a dash, that requires a double-tap of a key). I hope to never have to go back to a membrane KB.

As far as my mouse goes, I paid something like $50 for a mouse that has 8 programmable buttons and a DPI switch for up to 4 different DPI settings (though I only use two). It was a huge advantage over my old mouse for the shooter I was playing at the time (Planetside 2, an MMOFPS).

So I'll circle back to what I originally said and will restate that I think the decision at the hardware level to exclude KBM was an ill-thought "walled garden" approach to protecting controller sales. Again, if your cited article is to be believed, Microsoft may end up opening up KBM support. It only makes sense because media entertainment devices, such as consoles, are converging with the set-top HTPC/video box market.

Hell, again, per your article, Sony even already offers a keypad/mouse combo.

u/runetrantor · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Did not even check, the moment I saw the pricetag and the leds I ignored everything else.

Only thing I recall is that it also had 'gamer buttons' on the side, like you know how the keyboard ends on the lef with the tab and such keys? Well, in this one, just past them, hanging from the edge, was a set of buttons that were supposedly for gamers, despite the clear pain to press if you are in a normal configuration.
Kind of like that mouse that had 12 blackberry sized buttons on the side and expected you to guess which was which and not press 4 at once (This one: http://www.amazon.com/UtechSmart-Precision-Programmable-programmable-Manufacturers/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1415382878&sr=8-16&keywords=gamer+led+keyboard) Try at hit one of those in the middle of an intense gaming session.

u/akira_ikeda · 2 pointsr/Rainbow6

Well, I use the mouse software to map the extra buttons to the numpad, and then in game I map the keybinds to that numpad button.

It's a generic mouse, but it's got 10 extra buttons :D Not this exact one but similar

u/BeaversAreTasty · 2 pointsr/gis

I use one of these for GIS and CAD. Similar idea.

u/dawn_of_thyme · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

I use a gaming mouse, with numbered keys like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1X5M44KZPCYA&coliid=I3KF1UPK9UH6SM&psc=1

This frees up my left hand for focusing on movement and CTRL/Shift/Alt.

Better but not good idea Alert:
Buy a mouse with a crap ton of programmable buttons and do everything with one hand.

NAGA EPIC USER HERE

I just dumped mine after the 3rd RMA. The original Nagas (2012) were amazing but the recent iterations have been pretty poor. Here are the options I found:

Corsair Scimitar Pro This is a smaller mouse than the naga, but provides the 12 button pad and has great software to boot

Logitech G600 This one is just a little too bulky for me, I have very small hands, but it is logitech. The dual dish feature is too weird for me.

Steelseries Rival 500 Not your standard layout, but a good sensor. Large mouse , very similar to the naga epic.

In the end, I went with the Rival 500, because I liked the features (programmable rumble support) and the Pixart 3360 Optical Sensor was a good choice. It is heavy, so not ideal for fps, but i use it anyways.

Also, there is always knockoff on amazon. My brother has this one and he loves it. Eh?

Ahoy! I "converted" to KB and mouse with FFXIV - it was my first game played on kb/m rather than controller. Prior to 2013 I'd been a mostly-console player, had played hundreds of games on controllers, and had never seriously attempted to play anything on kb/m.

The other reply said the most important part: just practice. There is a lot of individual variation from person to person when it comes to how you'd learn to play this way, and (crucially) what areas you'd have trouble with, and how you solve them. To give a personal example of that: while things like moving with WASD and the mouse took some time to adjust to, I was pretty much okay with those fundamentals after a couple months. What was KILLING me was hitting keyboard keys with my left hand to use hotbar skills. Generally, if I moved my hand slightly to hit whatever skill is bound to, say, shift 4, I'd have to look down in order to reposition my hand back on WASD to move properly. If I moved my hand to hit a key, then immediately after that there was an AOE I had to dodge, by the time I got my hand back where it needed to be, I already got hit. This also meant that everything past 5 in the number row was off-limits to skills I would need to use with any regularity, and if I DID need to hit a skill bound to 8 or 9, I needed to stop and look to make sure I was actually hitting the right key and not 7 or 0 (the same way I'd need to then stop and look AGAIN to get back to WASD).

Some people like to change Q, E, R, or other letters near WASD to hotbar assignments, but I just found that discombobulating and also preferred keeping Q/E as my strafe keys (which I use a LOT). This specific problem, of trying to use my left hand for WASD movement but also for hitting numbers to activate skills, kept me from being any better than "barely okay" at the game for a few years, even though I'd felt I'd adjusted adequately to kb/m controls OTHER than that one problem.

So I needed a solution that would allow me to move my fingers away from WASD as little as possible, and that solution was an MMO mouse with 12 thumb buttons. Specifically, this one. I use all 12, so my first hotbar is 1-12, 2nd hotbar is ctrl+1-12 (with ctrl mapped to that little extra button next to the left mouse button), and the 3rd hotbar is shift + 1-12 (shift I can hit with my left pinky without moving the rest of my fingers out of WASD position).

Now a 12-button MMO mouse may or may not work for you - it depends on the person. For me, after an awkward month spent adjusting to it, it began to feel totally natural. I can't go back to playing this game any other way now. But my point in writing all that isn't to say "get an MMO mouse", it's to illustrate that the key is figuring out what works for you, and perhaps more importantly, what doesn't, i.e. what your Achilles heel is when it comes to kb/m controls, and how you can solve it.

Re: standard vs. legacy - I dislike how legacy handles camera and character movement so I keep it on standard. I've long since gotten used to keeping my camera angled in such a way that if I need to dodge laterally, I can just right-click to instantly turn my character and then hit Q or E to strafe. This is also how I get around the "slow walk" issue, which seems to be one of the main points of contention when legacy vs. standard is discussed: hitting S in standard will make you slowly walk backwards (useless for dodging out of an AOE), whereas with legacy you'll actually turn and run away. With the camera angled properly, right-click and strafe allows you to run "backwards" instantly (that is, backwards relative to the enemy, even though your character is actually strafing left or right). But this, again, is an entirely subjective choice that's down to which one works better for you. It's worth fully exploring the particulars of both methods to figure out which one you like better.

I bought a Naga and I hated it. It felt so cheap in my hand and the buttons felt "squishy". It was also a bit on the small side for my hand. So, I gave it to a friend and he loves it, so to each his own!
I ended up biting the bullet and went with a mouse that I've never heard of before, the Venus by a newish(?) company called "UtechSmart". In my opinion, it's miles above the Naga. It feels so much better in my hand, the build quality is superb, and there's no issues after a couple years of use.

If you don't want to go with a mouse that isn't a huge name brand like Razer, then I hear Corsair's mice are incredible too. I use their keyboards and I love them, but I haven't used one of their mice yet. Hopefully this can help to some degree.

u/firechaos05 · 2 pointsr/TeraOnline

I use one of these. Pretty handy since I main healer classes, can set up to 5 DPI profiles along with lighting profiles. I've had it for maybe a year now, no issues with it so far other than the little thumb rest that gets in the way sometimes ($45.99 USD excl taxes and shipping).

If that's still too much, there's also the Redragon Perdition. Haven't personally used it but it's getting decent reviews, not sure if you can customize its DPI profiles but it's cheaper ($34.96 USD excl taxes and shipping).

u/Brolyx · 2 pointsr/Amd

oh they work alright! they really honestly arnt for everyone it causes anger issues trying to learn to control it properly i usually cut it down depending on the game via software or just a button on the mouse. i perfer around 12k tho honestly this mouse isnt even expensive and i prefer it over the chroma razer naga. this is the link if you are interested the mouse has removable weights as well so you can find a good balance between weight and dpi you can make your self very comfortable with very little movement. and with the software for each dpi setting (there are 5) you can create profiles for different types of games with various speeds and polling rates with one tap of a button on the mouse its honestly a very good product.

u/dakota831 · 2 pointsr/classicwow

Okay pretty simple. You need a few things though.

  1. A cheap mmo mouse like this you can bind your bread and butter to: https://www.amazon.com/UtechSmart-Precision-Programmable-Computer-Recommendation/dp/B00FNKMVUO?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2
  2. A addon like Banana Bar that organizes hostel/enemy frames.
  3. Mouse over cast macro something like : #showtooltip Holy Light/cast [target=mouseover, exists] Holy Light; Holy Light

Replace Holy Light with whatever spell you want.

Once it's all set up you just press the button on the mouse to the corresponding spell while hovering the cursor over the enemy target frame. And boom, 1 handed mage.

(PS: This is really similar to how you raid heal at high levels.)
u/Toufles · 2 pointsr/wow

I almost got the Redragon Perdition after my Naga finally bit the dust, but ended up getting the UtechSmart Venus. Judging by your pictures the software is exactly the same, the buttons are also angled, but the mouse is all black so you don't get the weird color combos. I can't tell if one is bigger or smaller...I have small hands too so finding a mouse that doesn't feel giant is a challenge. Anyways, just throwing it out there as I am happy with mine too - I think they are both solid Naga alternatives.

u/Kensin · 2 pointsr/lowendgaming

this is what I'm using and it falls just under $30.00 (one sale) right now. I have no real complaints. The only issue I have with it is that the DPI LEDs are always red. That's it. Other than that it's been pretty much perfect. heres an amazon link for reviews or whatever.

u/Tib5 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I don't know of any good cheap keyboards, their's plenty that'll do, but none that'll compare with a good mechanical one. So for that I'd just pick the cheapest one up you can find. As for a mouse, their's a decent amount of good budget offerings. I'm partial to the UtechSmart MMO mouse. It has good software support, and I've found a verity of uses for the extra buttons in and out of games. I use it for work, gaming, and everyday use, I've used it for a long ass time, and suggest it completely.

u/GSlayerBrian · 1 pointr/pcgaming

While it doesn't have much in the way of a pinky rest, I am surprisingly happy with my UtechSmart Venus ($37.99 Amazon). I thought it'd be a cheap chinese knockoff, but it has so far been every bit as good as my Razer Naga was. (My second Naga in two years began suffering from an oxidized switch like the first one. I decided I didn't want to spend $90 a year on a gaming mouse so looked for a cheaper alternative).

If you're in the market for a budget gaming mouse with a 12-button thumb grid, long braided USB cable, configurable LEDs, and removable weights, I can't recommend the Venus enough. I've also used the Redragon Mammoth and Perdition and they were surprisingly good for the price.

A quick glance on Amazon for gaming mice that have a pinky rest yielded this one for only $11.99. I can't vouch for its quality, but at that price I'd imagine it's worth risking just to see what it's like.

Would you mind going with off brands?

I have a claw grip which makes the logitech ungrippable

Roccat Nyth is also a reputable brand with keypads.

But if you are willing to try off brands, there is this thing by havit

And there is also one by utech

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FNKMVUO/ref=psdcmw_172487_t1_B01DW2VQ5A

And another by red dragon

I got my naga when they had the changeble side plates. I use the smallest one but the ledge is still too big for me to grip by my fingertips in claw comfortably.

I am expecting it to crap out in the near future and i dont really like that new naga design.
I suspect roccat's nyth will be just as uncomfortable for me as the razer naga.

I am looking at trying out the havit. I am glad more companies are daring to try to make mice with a keypad on the side.

I actually have 3 of them. 1 for my wife, 1 at work and 1 at home.

u/Moose_Hole · 1 pointr/OutreachHPG

I use this one.

It has plenty of extra buttons for whatever you want. I use the normal buttons for group 1 and 2, the extra left button for alpha, buttons 1,2,3 for more firing groups, and I put the other side buttons into consumables.

It also has nice programmable DPI settings. I set them up like this:
Level 0: Normal X, Normal Y.
Level 1: Maximum X, Normal Y (good for shielding with arms).
Level 2-5: Disabled.

Slight sidetrack. I was looking at getting the G600 as well, had the Naga before but didn't like it. Came across the UtechSmart Venus MMO Gaming mouse whilst searching, reviews look pretty good. Anyone tried it, if so, what do you think?

u/kju · 1 pointr/TibiaMMO

i bought a cheaper one, from utechsmart

i've never used a naga so i can't compare it to that, but it's been pretty great for me. after about 2 years the left click got a little sensitive and would sometimes click 2-3 times in quick succession. it's about 4 years old now and that's the only problem that i've had and i dont think it's a big enough problem to stop using it. i also wrote a quick ahk script to fix the problem if i ever notice it annoying me, ill include it t the end of the post if anyone has a similar problem or something. it's more of an annoyance when im on reddit than when im gaming but i thought i should mention it

other than that it comes with it's own software, i think the keys are default set to 1-12 without the software, with it you can set it to whatever you want, i haven't had any problems with the software. it has a macro function also, which i've never used

MButton::
If (A_TimeSincePriorHotkey < 150)
Return
Send {MButton Down}
KeyWait, MButton
Send {MButton Up}
Return

all it really does is refuse mouse clicks in the 150ms after you click, if you find yourself clicking faster than seven times in a second you can change 150 to 100 or whatever you want

The MMO Mouse (twelve on the side) has:

  • Middle = F1
  • Special = double-click

  1. F2
  2. F3
  3. F4
  4. CTRL+T (Call Target)
  5. Swap layout (I have five profiles)
  6. W (Take a target)
  7. 7 (About face)
  8. 8 (Stow/Draw Weapon)
  9. 9 (F5)
  10. Mouse 4 (Heal)
  11. T (Interact)
  12. Mouse 5 (Elite)

All the F buttons are hit with the tip of my thumbnail, which makes it easy to play Elementalist and Engineer. It also makes it easy to hit the Chronomancer Continuum Split button and then drag my thumb along the line of F skills to burst people with condi's in WvW :3

When I get the mounts going, I will make them CTRL+F1-F4 because I can hold CTRL easily whilst moving since it is right at the corner of my hand.

I use https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-Mouse-UtechSmart-Venus-Precision/dp/B00FNKMVUO for reference. It mostly fits me... lower half of my thumb can hit 7-12 and upper half for the others. The buttons are all wide enough that I do not double-hit them.

P.S. Yes, I made my own keyboard layout so movement keys look funny. That side of the keyboard is laid out with:
    ;vflwc
    kontsh
    zbrdgi

It’s customizable

u/lololoz · 1 pointr/wow

It's all a bit trial and error really.

The most basic's I'd say to start off with would be to rebind Q E R F (use WASD to move and pan the camera around with your mouse, though some will say to rebind S as well but if you're new to keybinds I'd personally say keep S as a move backwards key, AKA PVP'ers shame button :P ).

Q and E I've personally found are best for the button's you are going to press the most - like filler spells without cooldowns/with procs ie. Frostbolt and Ice Shards (iirc, haven't played a Mage in a while).

Spells like DOT's and/or cooldowns are good for 1-5 because they are a little further away but still easily reachable, and you won't need to press them constantly- if you're anything like me your hands linger around the WASD area by default.

R and F are good keys for situational/utility spells (like an interrupt for example - something that isn't part of a regular rotation, but is still easily accesable when you need it).

As something that is trivial but helpful is to bind your mount button to something like CTRL+Space. It's small but is one of those stupid things that when you get used to it it just makes sense.

Then as you become more comfortable you can add more keybindings (like Z X C V) and using modifiers like SHIFT and CTRL (like SHIFT+Q, SHIFT+E), but to get you going I'd say this is a good starting point. The best thing I'd say would be to practice on a training dummy and change around the keybindings as you prefer until your rotation feels comfortable and you build muscle memory.

If you are new to the game and need a hand getting the rotation down, or even leveling a new class the addon TellMeWhen and u/Chesderman keep profiles updated to import at www.chesder.com that tell you the rotation (it's not 100% all you'll ever need, but it does help a great deal).

As other people have mentioned, a multi-button mouse can make the process easier, but it's still a learning process all the same. I personally haven't used one with more than 2 extra buttons, but someone did suggest [this mouse](https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FNKMVUO/?coliid=I3MWGUDSM8CTYH&colid=3KY4B44CD98Y1&psc=1&ref
=lv_ov_lig_dp_it) on /r/pcmasterrace as a good entry point without breaking the bank.

Is there anything obvious I've missed fellow keybinders? I haven't really typed up a begginer guide to keybinding before.

u/LisaaRS · 1 pointr/runescape

I have a UTechSmart Venus and absolutely love it.

https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-Mouse-UtechSmart-Venus-Precision/dp/B00FNKMVUO

Pros:

  • Easy to change DPI

  • Higher DPI than anything else I could find

  • Re-programmable side buttons numbered 1 to 12. By default they act as a numberpad if you don't set a macro to them (bots are bad, don't use them for botting)

  • Every single button can be reprogrammed!!!

  • Easy to use software

  • 5 different "profiles" you can set and switch to.

  • Small "burst-fire" (triple left-click) button to the left of the left-click

  • Can set the LEDs to literally any color

  • Adjustable centerweights

    Cons:

  • Might be annoying for small, Donald Trump-like hands

  • Due to its large size it may not comfortable fit small mousepads.

  • Wired only, no wireless mode available.

If you decide to get it, I recommend setting one of the sidekeys to switch profiles for quick access, and to set a different LED color for each profile. I'm available to answer any questions you got =)

Mouse movement can be erratic with zombies on the screen due to aim assist. Up to 180 degree(or more?) spin when just moving to target a zombie next to another zombie(not that 2 zombies next to each other causes it, just illustrating how little I'm intending to move the mouse when it happen). The last straw was when I was running away from a train and I ended up doing a 180 and running back into them. Been using a controller since because the mouse screw me over without fail. u/smithenheimer · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I picked up the utechsmart Venus a few months ago, and I'm really happy I upgraded. I was using a wireless laptop mouse for 5 years before, it makes a huge difference in comfort. And programmable buttons can be really nice in games with heavy keybinds

u/ceol_ · 1 pointr/macgaming

I use the Razer Naga 2014. The mechanical side buttons feel really nice to use. Razer's "Synapse" software works decently well with Mac, as you can bind any button to a multitude of functions. The only issue I've run into is that the OS-level mouse tracking seems to reset to 0 on reboot. Not a huge issue. I would definitely purchase this mouse again if mine were to ever go up (had it for about 11 months now with no issues.)

The Logitech G600 has decent reviews, although I didn't go with it because a) the side buttons are squishy, and b) the software only works in Windows, so if you want to rebind keys to something else, you're out of luck.

A cheaper option is the Redragon Perdition, which is a newer "MMO mouse." I couldn't verify, but I don't believe this one has any Mac software either. However, the buttons are still just numeric keys, so if you don't need anything crazy, it should be fine. You can also store the button profiles on the device, so if you have a Windows install, you can apply it there then use it in OS X.

There's also the UtechSmart Venus. Not bad reviews; fairly new; cheap. Like the two previous mice, I don't believe it has any Mac software, but the extra buttons will still function.

u/gr3yh47 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

this UtechSmart Venus is an absolute BEAST.

5 programmable profiles that can be cycled with a button on the bottom of the mouse. 5 dpi levels per profile that you can specifically set what each level is from 50-16000 dpi

you change dpi levels with convenient buttons under the scroll wheel

there are 12 buttons by the thumb that are completely programmable for anything from a single keyboard key to a macro. extra button on top by the left click makes a nice reload or secondary fire button.

for $40 there's nothing that even comes close.

My question is: Should I just dive into another Razer Naga? Has Logitech made a similar mouse? Is there a cheaper alternative I should look at?

u/Framp_The_Champ · 1 pointr/buildapc

A little while ago, I went looking for a cool mouse that wasn't too expensive.

While it's hard to call a 40 dollar mouse cheap, this guy fit the bill.

Never heard of the company before I saw it, supposedly they're Chinese. Wherever they're from, they're pretty decent.

It's comfortable.

It has a ridiculous amount of buttons. About half of the 12 buttons on the side are pretty easy to get to without really trying. Luckily, they're also surprisingly large, so once you get used to the mouse, it's easy not to missclick.

The software that comes with it is probably one of my favourite parts. The mouse is hugely customizable, and the software makes is particularly easy. It even comes with scripts for things like multiple key press macros, or the windows "show desktop" button.

If you're wondering, yeah the lights do change colours, you can use a palette in the software to change the colours at will. I've also got a button on the bottom you can press to change profiles, one of which you can set to turn the LEDs off.

So far, this is the absolute best mouse I have ever used. The only two complaints I have about it are, the RGB is very lackluster. The mouse wheel can only change with 5 preset colors while the rest of the mouse is more or less true RGB, its weird. That, and the middle mouse button is a tad stiff to click. Besides that, this mouse is absolutely amazing, and the drivers have never ONCE Failed on me. Not something I can say about literally any other brand (corsair, logitech, razer, the list goes on).

Looking for a 12-button mouse without the wide ring finger rest

I've got the UtechSmart Venus for the 12 side buttons, but it's giving me horrible hand strain. The body is too wide because the ring finger rest on the right makes it difficult to pickup the mouse to reposition and makes my hand cramp up. I've been using it for a while and I just can't adapt to this shape at all. I'm very much used to the traditional mouse shape where the sides curve inwards or are at least flat so I can pickup the mouse between thumb and ring finger, but the finger rest makes that impossible so I'm straining my pinky instead.

Are there any programmable 12 button mice without this kind of wide body? All the ones I've seen have the ring finger rest, making it too wide for my hands.

Map the building buttons (wall, ramp, floor) to the back row (closest to your palm) 10, 11, 12.

It made building effectively and efficiently very easy for me, so I highly recommend it. For reference, a very prominent streamer Daequan uses a similar mouse by Redragon and has given the same advice.

I also have the weapon buttons bound to the 1,2,3,4,5,6 buttons on the mouse.

I ended up going with the UtechSmart Venus. It was a really tough choice between the two, but this one seemed to be more ergonomic while offering similar features

As for audiosurf, on AS2, my computer only hits 45-50 fps (old laptop). I was trying to find mods to make the game easier to run, as I'd like to be able to play ninja turbo (or your mod). Do you know if that's available? Otherwise, is there any way to make AS1's mono faster than elite ironmode [as-steep]?

i dont use but like 2 or 3 buttons on the side, my first thought was, this would be cool for someone whos lost a hand.

u/SoftQuittingReddit · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

That is what it is. I would consider this mouse in case you ever want to get a new one that is similar. It's more ergonomic, imo

I got this mouse (Utech Venus) as a gift and I map all my normally inaccessible number pad keys onto the side. I've used it for almost a year and it's decent build quality and functionality is a steal for it's price. To add to this, I got a Steam controller for $50 and for less than half the price of the Elite controller it has 10 times the button mapping capability of it. It blows me away how shallow a console user's view of customizability is, when they view the Elite controller as the pinnacle of customization.

I've been using this mouse for a while now and absolutely love it. Not wireless, but I prefer wired anyway.

Gaming mouse

A lot of people are saying the Naga, and yes, it's a good mouse, but I have bought too many Razer mice that failed after less than a year. Something would go on them, like the scroll wheel would become wonky and not scroll properly, the left click button would start registering as a double click when I only clicked it once. This has happened with literally every Razer product I have ever bought. Never again.

The most recent mouse I have been using for more than a year now that hasn't shown any signs of wear and tear is this

It's essentially exactly the same as the Naga, it's cheaper, has more profiles to customize, more buttons on it. It's just been a great mouse that hasn't shit the bed in over a year, which is more than I can say for any Razer product.

My favorite mouse if you want the type of mouse that has a lot of buttons:

https://www.amazon.com/UtechSmart-Venus-16400-Precision-Gaming/dp/B00FNKMVUO

I've been using this mouse for awhile now and haven't had double clicking issues like I did with Razr / Logitech mouse. Plus it's a bargain!

Otherwise, I use this while I game on the bed if I don't use a controller:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-LIGHTSPEED-POWERPLAY-Wireless-Compatibility/dp/B0716ZFWWV/

Despite my stab at Logitech earlier, this mouse is by far the most responsive wireless mouse I've used. Not only that, it can be used on almost any surface since sometimes I use it on a pillow / bed sheet while lounging around in bed and playing games on the TV via steam link.

As for keyboards, for wired I use:

I forgot what brand my wired keyboard is since I'm not home at the moment.

For wireless on the bed, I use:

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G613-Lightspeed-Mechanical-Multihost-Connectivity/dp/B07796MBJ7/

Like above, the Lightspeed tech makes it super responsive even at more than 10ft away. Not only that, you can switch between Bluetooth / Lightspeed allowing you to control up to two different machines at a flip of the switch.

Probably something like this:

Or this (a shame it isn't quiet):
https://www.amazon.com/UtechSmart-Venus-16400-Precision-Gaming/dp/B00FNKMVUO

The thing is I don't know much about mice and it's brands, so maybe 2 that look similar to me it's really one worse than the other and paying 90% brand name, or one being more prone to malfunctions (kofkof* Razer).

I can bump the price if it's justified and I know the mouse is gonna last, I mean, the Naga cost me I think something like 80$ back when I bought it, but considering how it ended up, maybe I paid more than I should have, though a 175 dollars one would have to scratch my back and make me smoothies, lol.
But idk, maybe that's the standard pricing.

Please read my original rant about this product.

You have to ask yourself if the advertised productivity features are:

  • already baked into the OS and normal peripherals.^1
  • or easily repdoducable with macros^2

And based on that, whether it's worth your money. Considering the facts you could easily deduce in a few minutes, how the macros/analogue buttons work, the conclusion is that there is almost no R&D in this product.

I guarantee all the additional buttons borrow from either the keyboard (numpad keys) or xinput for the analogue buttons. Theres no magic to it. If you need macros you have the hardware and software readily available to you, just be creative with keybinds.

If it's just about the additional buttons there are absurdly chear solutions out there.

1: (pan with middle mouse button, their copy & paste shenanigans = multiple clicks and or ctrl+a/c/v)

2: in either the abundant gui/drivers that come with mice/keyboards these days or autoIT/autohotkey.

I had a Naga for about a year before the left click went out on me. I went a cheap route and bought this chinese mouse from Amazon called a UTech Smart... It has the 12 buttons on the side and a few others, I actually like it alot! Been using it for about 8 or 9 months and it's still working great, was only $35 dollars. Edit: Looks like it's closer to $40. It's a UTechSmart Venus

u/touchthesun · 1 pointr/gaming

yeah, I got this mouse on Amazon for $40. Thing kicks ass.

> I find myself standing still when I attack mobs. I can't seem to get the hang of moving around when attacking. I use the mouse to choose my attacks instead of the number keys. The number keys just feel... "off". I walk around using right-click instead of WASD. So that's why I'm having trouble moving when attacking. I'm also coming from console so kb+m is still a bit whacky for me.

If you think you might be sticking around for a while, I highly recommend picking up an MMO mouse This one is the same one my hubby uses and is relatively inexpensive. I personally could never acclimate to using keyboard keybinds, but an MMO mouse seriously helped me and my gameplay.

u/EonProspero · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

This Beauty is what im currently using and its great its an MMO mouse so you can use some extra buttons for DOTA 2 as I have done. Its cheap too, it uses good quality parts but isnt expensive because the brand name is that big, if you want a review this one from teksyndicate is what got me to buy it.

For 40 dollars cheaper and is 4.5 stars, also the razer Naga is 60 dollars now :P

u/illossolli · 0 pointsr/pcgaming

I've used a Naga and the Logitech g600 for a few years. They both eventually died after 2-3 years each. I picked up one of the Chinese knock offs for cheap and i have to say its as good as any of the others.

UtechSmart Venus Gaming Mouse RGB Wired, 16400 DPI High Precision Laser Programmable MMO Computer Gaming Mice [IGN's Recommendation] https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_w7BFDbES3T9M8

I use this one and love it, 12 side buttons that you can assign keys to, you can change the color to any color, and you can set 5 different dpi however you like (you can make each setting any number eg #1 can be 300 #2 can be 16400 if you want) also super comfortable and not too jittery

u/EverEsurient · -1 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I would recommend spending a bit more for a nice mouse, especially when it comes to having macros. The Corsair Scimitar is an MMO mouse with 12 buttons but costs around $60.

If you don't mind a knock-off brand with decent reviews: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FNKMVUO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_gFKYCb2HJRHR7
