Can you wear gloves when washing things? Preventing your hands from drying out when washing makes moisturizing less necessary. In a similar vein, I've found that using hand sanitizer instead of soap and water is less drying, just make sure you get the kind that contains glycerin. It also means you can moisturize and then sanitize on top of it without removing the moisturizer and having to reapply.

Additional ideas: Use a sulfate-free hand soap (or shower gel, or whatever soap-y product is cheapest), make sure to only use temperate water, and always wear gloves when outside.

My favorite hand lotion for day use is Vaseline Intensive care Advanced Repair (looks like this) which is the least greasy hand lotion I've found that still does a great job moisturizing/preventing water loss. I get particularly bad eczema on my fingertips, so a non-greasy hand lotion is essential since I can't just wipe it off if I have to use my hands for something. There is no difference between the small tube and the large bottle that I've found.

For more intensive moisture and night use I swear by lotion with 10% urea. I mostly see urea in body lotions, which works just fine for hands, but you can also look at foot lotions if you can't find it. It's the only kind of lotion that makes a serious difference in keeping my hands so well moisturized it suppresses my eczema almost completely. I even sometimes use a foot lotion with 25% urea on my hands, but I doubt that is necessary for most people :)
