Their bundled router is actually not that bad. It does gigabit ethernet routing (wan to lan and back) and handles everything I throw at it. I turned off my Unifi, because it was that good. That's saying something.

Well, depending on your download speed, you could buy a new Generation 4 for $200 from them directly. It supports gigabit and has wireless AC available.
5GZ is faster wifi but shorter range, while 2.4ghz is slower with longer range so keep that in mind. Also your neighbors can slow down your 2.4ghz network.
