Just bought a used Acer XG270HU 1440p 144hz for £277. There is another used one still available, slightly more expensive still available for £293 after the discount applied.

NB: If you don't have prime you can sign up for a free 30 day trial. Also if you think the used products might not be worth it, all amazon warehouse deals come with a free 30 day return period.

Updates on deals I found that people might want:

Another monitor i found : Viewsonioc g-sync 1440p 165hz for £389 after discount. New is for £689. Two available

If you cant afford one of the latest cards, or you're on a budget the [Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 970 G1] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00NQ862GY/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all&qid=1499253163&sr=1-84) is for 172 after discount. Might be worth it considering the GPU shortage because of etherium mining. 7 Available

For colour sensitive professional work : [ViewSonic VP2770-LED 27-inch WQHD IPS Professional Monitor] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B00906HNZU/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all&qid=1499253646&sr=1-130) £255 after discount. £439 new, one available.

27" 165Hz G-sync IPS, £366, bargain!

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B01LWJMM1S/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2OAJ7377F756P

Or £405 with no dead pixels, still cheap.

Unfortunately I bought one 2 months ago at a much higher price :(

More than enough money to get a high end build:

Fastest gaming cpu, the 7700K. The GTX 1080 Ti is the fastest gaming gpu. 16GB of fast ram, to give the system a further boost. 1TB SSD, to give all your games better loading times. High quality cooler, high quality psu, good and noise isolated case.

You should get something with Gsync for the display, and this is a build where a 1440p 144Hz gsync display would be good, ideally with an IPS panel. https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-XG2703-GS-G-Sync-Monitor-DisplayPort/dp/B01LWJMM1S/ is exactly that (well, with 165Hz, even better).
u/Ezerus · 3 pointsr/FragReddit

I am kinda settled on getting the ViewSonic XG2703-GS but I am still looking at other monitors. To be honest, I have basically narrowed my sights down two monitors in particular. One is the ViewSonic, while the other one is the Acer Predator XB271HU. The ViewSonic gets amazing reviews when it comes to color and such. However, the Acer XB271HU is 10 bit color while the ViewSonic is 8-bit color.

So really i am still trying to decide, any opinions on what to go for would help greatly.

u/McMurry · 3 pointsr/Monitors

any particular resolution or amd / nvidia preference?

As a starting point the 2 best 27 inch 1440p high refresh panels are:

For AMD: the Asus MG279q

For Nvidia: the Viewsonic XG2703-GS

Though both Asus and ACE make very similar gsync screens that different folks prefer.

u/sniper344 · 2 pointsr/SuggestaMonitor

Sure byrnsie happy to help you out. The ViewSonic XG2703-GS has what your looking for has down. This monitor features a 27inch AU Optronics AHVA (Advanced Hyper-Viewing Angle) panel, an IPS-type panel supporting a 165Hz refresh rate. This offers true 8-bit colour per channel with a specified response time of 4ms. Some of the key ‘talking points’ have been highlighted in blue below for your reading convenience. From the front the monitor has quite a homely appearance. Matte black plastics are used for the bezel and most of the stand area so attractive :-).These accents identify this is a monitor designed for Nvidia users, with G-SYNC support. The bezels have a single-stage design without a significant panel border and are reasonably thin.

u/thejerkstoreNA · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Quick review- the two panels I received are great. The quality of the stand is fantastic. The aesthetics are great for me, preferring a clean "office" look over anything that looks "gaming". They're TN panels and as I'm sure aren't perfect with color however I'm using them for gaming and I personally don't notice any problems. My panels were both the A07 revision produced in September 2017 (says so on the boxes) delivered to my house by Best Buy. My buddy who ordered one for in-store pick-up got an A04 revision and has major issues with artifacts in darker color gradients which I've read many other users have had the same issue with that revision.

Using this image on my monitors there is some minor banding across the dark gradients (more noticeable if you crank up brightness), however I have the same issue on every other monitor I own including my Note 5 OLED phone so maybe it's just the image? In-game I haven't noticed this creating any problems.

Verdict: I'm keeping both. They're a huge upgrade for me and I'm quite happy with them at $350 each. If I wanted to spend $600+ I'd likely go for an IPS panel such as this one but I'm a happy camper today.

Good luck with your monitor shopping!

Here ya go buddy.
ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27" 165Hz IPS WQHD 1440p G-Sync

Normally this monitor goes for $700 new although, it's $733 now for some reason. However, you can get the refurbished with a 90 day manufacturers warranty for $525 from ViewSonic. I got a refurbished monitor a few weeks ago and I love it. No complaints and it looks brand new. No dead pixels, no bleed, just perfection.

u/IdRaptor · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Let me lay out the competition:
ViewSonic XG2703-GS (4ms)
ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q (4ms)
Acer Predator XB271HU bmiprz (4ms)

Here's the deal, I've never heard of an IPS panel with an advertised sub 4ms response time. I don't think they exist. If you can manage to dredge one up from the depths I can guarantee it's either manipulative marketing, or a professional grade monitor which costs far more than a grand.

From what I've heard response time itself is primarily marketing BS when provided without the input lag (which conveniently no monitor manufacturers seem to provide).

Without both input lag and response times you don't have the full set of information to determine the actual amount of time it takes to propagate an image to the screen after an action, so there's not much to be gained from comparing a few milliseconds.

u/TrueDiligence · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Not much point in a high refresh rate 4k monitor right now. You are not going to have enough GPU horsepower to drive that many pixels in AAA titles. In competitive games it is more beneficial to have high refresh rate and lower resolution for a smoother playing experience, professional gamers are currently switching to 240hz 1080p monitors.

Currently the best gaming experience (within reason) can be had on a 144hz+ 1440p IPS G-Sync monitor paired with a GTX 1080Ti. Your options there are as follows:

Viewsonic XG2703

Asus PG279q

Acer XB271HU

AOC AG271QG

If there are anymore out there I'm sure someone will chime in, but those are all that I know of for now.

u/Killerfist · 2 pointsr/bapcsalesgermany

No ref

I just want to note that the listed original price on Amazon of 879,90 is not really very accurate for these days.

The monitor is usually around 690 - 700 Euros on various shops. Refer to https://geizhals.de/viewsonic-xg2703-gs-a1504306.html?hloc=at&hloc=de for current pricing and price history chart.

So the discount isn't really 33% but still ~130 euros, which is neat, if you have Prime though.

u/cynictv · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I just snagged a refurbished XG2703-GS for $524.99 with a 90 day warranty and there's literally nothing wrong with it, other than the green accent lights that I wasn't too thrilled about considering purchasing the monitor don't work. I actually prefer it that way. Took some tinkering to get it to play nicely with my second monitor, but it's butter smooth at 165hz.

u/ResistUnlearnDefy · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I ordered that same monitor but canceled it right away to go with this Viewsonic when someone mentioned it to me here. At the time Newegg had $40 off so it wasn't much more expensive. Still might be worth checking out if you should spend the extra money though. It's a great monitor but i can't compare it.

ALSO - Call your local costcos. They are clearing inventory on Acer xb271hu's for $500. That would definitely be preferable.

u/PostalFury · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Which MSI? The Armor or Gaming X?

And personally, I'd recommend the XG2703-GS (Amazon link) over the ROG Swift. Less BLB (backlight bleed)/IPS glow, better 1080p upscaling, cheaper, best out-of-box colors (still needs a tiny bit of tweaking, but much less than other similar monitors). Some people are turned off by the green in it, but you really don't see it.

u/Derazier00 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

To my knowledge most of the IPS 27" 1440p 144hz monitors using the same panel manufactured by the AU Optronics. Panel known for having BLB issues so buying a 27" 1440p 144hz is offen described as playing panel lottery.

That being said I bought a Viewsonic 27" 1440p 144hz (165hz with OC) 6 months ago.
First one I bought had some issues on the panel such as weird letter shadows and miscolored pixels on the screen. I contacted with Viewsonic they replace the whole thing and the new one is working without an issue so far(5+ months). It is a bit out of your price range but i wanted to share my experince with it(the IPS panel) and the share the resources that i looked before pulling the trigger.

Ah I see on the bezels.

Will have to check out if any of these stores carry the Viewsonic panel. Thanks.

Looks like Amazon fell in price: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LWJMM1S/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1

So $850 CAD before taxes - now down to a $100 premium it seems.

u/Bullocks_Bollocks · 1 pointr/Monitors

By means of an update, I took delivery of a https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01LWJMM1S - The Viewsonic XG2703 yesterday

It's going back tomorrow as the bleed/ "aura" is the worst I've ever seen on a device.

I may wait for the prime day sales to see what I can snag or plump for a TN, they are less prone to bleed no?

u/slothcore1 · 1 pointr/buildapc

The Asus monitor isn't as good as some other options with the same specs. The Viewsonic XG2703-GS is better for example. Here is a good comparison of monitors, and it includes a tab for "Best 1440p 144-165hz Nvidia G-Sync Monitors." That's what you want to look at.

You'll probably want the new Coffee Lake i5-8600k or i7-8700k depending on your budget (prices and other specs finally announced, scroll down a few pages for chart) and a 1080 Ti. The 8600k and 8700k are unlocked. I know you mentioned you didn't want to overclock, but it really makes a big difference in some circumstances. A Z370 motherboard would allow for overclocking, so I highly recommend pairing the CPUs with it.

If those are out of budget, you could use a Ryzen processor. It'll perform worse in all likelihood (wait for benchmarks to see just how much worse), but it's still a good alternative since it's on a cheaper platform.

Here's my guess as to how much a PC with those specs will cost.

ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27" 165Hz IPS WQHD 1440p G-Sync Gaming Monitor HDMI, DisplayPort, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LWJMM1S/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_I4XGzbDQGEQJ1

Not much G-Sync IPS 144hz fit that budget, unless for sale (usually they are around $700) I'll list some good ones:

AOC AG271QG

Viewsonic XG2703-GS

Acer XB271HU

Acer XB270HU

If you are fine with no G-Sync, then the Nixeus EDG27 fits your budget (Not fully released, will be some time very soon though. Some places are already shipping them out)

If you go for a 1080 or a 1080 ti I highly recommend these.

Dell S2716DG (1 ms, g-sync, tn, 1440p, 144hz)

Viewsonic XG2703 (4 ms, g-sync, ips, 1440p, 165hz)

They originally had a FreeSync (red) and G-Sync (green) version in development, but they cancelled the FreeSync version. The monitor is essentially black and basic looking, aside from the subtle green accents.

Could be a regional thing then because on amazon.de they still seem to have stock with the IPS-Panel unless they're lying in the advertisement.

If you want something less gamer aesthethics that's very similar have a look at

ViewSonic XG2703-GS

They both have the exact same panel.

Also the Predator isn't as bad as it looks, as I have a friend who has one and when looking from the front it appears ordinary. The Acer one usually goes on sale like this often enough, where personally I don't think the price jump to the ViewSonic is worth it.
