It is a decent deal, but surprisingly, there are starting to be a few offerings around this price. A quick search on Amazon has 32GB (2x16GB) of Patriot DDR4 3200 for only $174.99.

Amazon has Patriot Viper kits for a similar price, which look much cleaner but don't have RGB.

32GB DDR4-3000 for $105

32GB DDR4-3200 for $113

It's still $145, will be back in stock May 15. Seller is ironically named Highly Anticipated Electronics.

"Base Timings: 15-15-15-36; Tested Timings: 16-18-18-36", somewhat confusing.

Edit: Base timings at 2133MHz; Tested timings at 3200MHz, found on other product pages.

I picked up an ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F Gaming Mobo with a 2700x chip and this Patriot Viper 32GB 3200mhz DDR kit.

Everything is working in terms of it booting, but the ram is running at 2133mhz and 1.2v. I bumped it up manually to 3200mhz in the bios and the system wouldn't boot (it was giving the beep code for 'no ram detected'). I don't seem to have any DOCP or XMP settings in the BIOS, and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice?

Did I just buy the wrong ram for my system?

Do I need to update the mobo BIOS? (I'm trying to avoid this because I'm using this in an UNRAID build and newer bios version can cause virtualization problems currently).

Thanks

Generally it's bad idea to install 4 modules with ryzen, they will not run on the same speed as 2.

Better sell your old dram and buy 2x16, I can recommend cheap but nice kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07N3TXFFX (runs 3600/16-17-17-34 with Ryzen 3700x)

These are the PVS416G320C6, I got the PVS432G320C6k for almost same price (it's labelled as 32 but is a 2x16 gb kit). Base/Tested timings are the same on both kits, and mine is fulfilled by whoever "highly anticipated electronics" is.

Assuming these modules are similar enough to compare, CPU-Z reports mine as Hynix, but it picked right up and ran at those tested timings on 3200 with an AMD 1700 on an MSI x370 carbon. I picked up two of the 32 gb kits for 4 DIMMs/64 GB, but that will have to wait until a new proc, as first gen ryzen won't really run 4 DIMMs stable, even with tweaking the ohm rate, which I've seen some people do.

Hope that helps.

Do you have any specific reason why would you want to pay $119 on G.Skill kit's when you can pay less for better kit's (in term of speed and same reliability)?

Check out /r/buildapcsales, there have been a lot of sales on RAM's for a much better price.

For example, this one (2x16GB @ 3200MHz for $144) was posted today (it already went out of stock), but there is still a lot of sales.

  1. 2x8GB @ 3400MHz for $89.99

  2. 2x16GB @ 3000MHz for $179.99 (G.Skill - RGB).

You'll find plenty of cheaper kits, every penny saved will be worth it.

Good luck on your new build as well on your streams. :)

Patriot: https://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Viper-3200MHz-Performance-Memory/dp/B07N3TXFFX/

Corsair: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B016ORTNI2/ (Defaults to 16GB, but you can select 32GB there)

G.Skill: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232413 (Was out of stock at Amazon)

Here is a comparison link of all three as well (The Patriot is for some reason astronomically priced at Newegg): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare?CompareItemList=9SIAG7R9RN4092%2C20%2D145%2D359%2C20%2D232%2D413

And no, RGB is not important, and I am still planning the build so none of the parts outside of a SSD have been purchased yet. Still have not even planned most other parts such as the motherboard or case.

No doubt.

It looks like you have a good price right now for the regular Trident Z modules at Newegg and another good option from Corsair as a direct comparison for the Neo from Amazon.

But as with anything, the longer you wait the cheaper it will be. Also, sales and whatnot.
