I botched my last post by not including my tower so a mod removed it. So here's attempt #2.

I just updated my setup to accommodate having my monitors AND PC all on my desk by switching to the Ikea Karlby worktop.

Here's an album that includes additional pictures. Taken with my phone because I lack a proper camera.

PC + Peripherals:

Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB
Mouse: Logitech G403 Wireless

Monitor Mounts: Vivo Single Monitor with arm (would like to switch to a single arm in the future, but I didn't know what could hold both of these for < $60)

Hey, I use this stand for a similar setup.

Some tips from an experienced user:

  • You'll likely benefit from a monitor stand that allows you to position the monitor so that it's parallel to the floor. This will let you seamlessly transition between sleeping and gaming and your spine will thank you.

  • Wireless earbuds/headphones are essential. Alternatively, some monitors include 3.5mm jacks you can use for headphones.

  • If your couch has 3 seat cushions, you should look into replacing the middle one with a high-quality inflatable bedpan. I was lukewarm on this at first, but it's really the next logical step and will help you cut out time you're not lying on your couch looking up at your monitor.
u/Freakin_Adil · 16 pointsr/battlestations

The mount is something like this . My monitor is not VESA compatible so there are also some adapter arms and clips which you see at the top and bottom.

u/Rengi_Alamast · 13 pointsr/battlestations

I got it off of amazon here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/

It's for 27" monitors, but since mine's a 29" ultrawide I figured it would be a similar weight.

3 monitors running on 2 computers + ipad air 2

iMac late 2013 27" with numerous upgrades connected to a 27" Apple Thunderbolt display

2012 MacbookPro -- replaced the RAM to 16gb and pulled out the old HDD for a SSD. This machine is mostly running windows at the moment although the far right monitor in the pic has since been replaced with a 25" LG 25UM56-P monitor (super wide screen!)

Workflow: Most of my notes during talks, presentations, and classes are taken using the iPad air 2. While I am seeing patients, I use my iPhone 6+ to look up any essential clinical data that I can't recall off the top of my head. The apps I use for this are Epocrates and UpToDate. I watch most of my class lectures at home using VLC, and scrub through the lectures using peripherals described below. I make study sheets either in adobe photoshop using a wacom tablet or on paper which I scan into my computer and tag using Evernote.

Occupation: Second year MD-PhD student. I completed a BA (Psychology) and an MS (Medical Science) before starting med school. After 2 years of med school, I switch to graduate school to complete the PhD. This usually takes 3-4 years (people in my program have the PhD timeline compressed and streamlined). Then I go back into medical school for 2 more years before starting residency.

Noteworthy peripherals:

  1. X-keys 24 (For macros, skipping around through lectures, repetitive tasks, etc)

  2. Griffin PowerMate JogWheel (for scrubbing through video at high speed with fine control)

  3. Sony UDA-1 DAC with Sony SS-HA1 speakers

  4. WASD Mechanical MX Cherry Brown Keyboard

  5. Mouse in image has been replaced w/ Logitech MX Master. I use Synergy to share keyboards and mice between different computers on the network, even running a different OS.

  6. Oppo PM3 planar magnetic headphones

  7. iPad case is the ClamCase Pro for iPad Air 2. I've tried numerous cases and this blows all the competition away, in my opinion.

  8. QNAP TS-451 NAS. This is my baby, my everything. All of my old material, lecture video, and torrents are here. The device is basically a server, hosting a website, VPN services, SSH, performing backups automatically, running plex, the list goes on.

  9. OWC ThunderBay. This is set up in RAID 4 and is where I keep my flac library.

  10. Gunnar glasses. Yes they are for gaming, which I occasionally use them fore, but I mostly use them for latenight studying when I develop eye strain. I hate f.lux.

  11. I have two Thunderbolt docks. One on the iMac to connect the ThunderBay and an SSD, and another on the MBP. This gives the 2012 MBP USB 3.0, which is very nice.

  12. Others: Netgear R8000 Nighthawk router, 2x CyberPower Uninterruptible power supply systems, a Macbook air (for taking to school and taking exams), Wacom tablet for drawing study guides in photoshop, staedtler triplus fineliner pens for hand making study guides (these pens are worth their weight in gold, buy them and see for your self), Antec bias lighting, Brother color laser printer, Brother document scanner

    Other stuff

In the other room is a 63" plasma 1080P samsung connected to a Pioneer 7.2 channel receiver, Ps4, Xbox one, and logitech harmony remote. I occasionally like to relax, and I also watch lectures on the big TV sometimes. I wired HDMI, ethernet, and USB directly through the wall into this room. There is another Harmony hub on my desk which works with Flirc to control the mac.

    Monitor mounts:

  13. iMac stand mounted using this desk mount and this adapter.

  14. The thunderbolt monitor is mounted using this wall mount here and this VESA adapter [here.] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EO7XH2I?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage)

  15. Third monitor mounted using this mount

    Apps

iPad: iAnnotate, Netter (Anatomy app), Essential anatomy 5, Adobe PS Touch, Memorang (studying for board exams), Figure1 (medical 'can you figure out the diagnosis?' app), Epocrates, UpToDate, QxCalculate (medical), Plex, several apps for interfacing with the NAS. Those are the big ones.

Mac: VLC for sure. Microsoft Office, Evernote, Adobe CC, Adobe DC, Transmission, Daemon Tools, Flirc, Prism 6 (stats and graphing), SPSS (stats), BioLucida (virtual microscope), Nanozoomer (virtual microscope), Fantastical 2 (calendar), Clear (to do list, also on iPad), Googledrive, Dropbox, Onedrive, Growl, LittleSnitch, Audirvana plus, istat menus, Default folder X (finder addon), Bartender 2, Alfred, Caffeine, enounce MySpeed (for speeding up lectures), BetterTouchTool, BetterSnapTool, TextWrangler, Radium (for listening to Sirius XM), Karabiner (custom key bindings), Parallels (for virtual machine, rarely needed), Synergy (this is essential for my set up, lets me control both computers with one set of input devices), BitTorrent Sync, Audio Hijack, Rowmote.

Windoze: Honestly this machine is mostly used to convert files that I cant get going right away on the mac, like old OneNote files. Especially, I use this machine for the rare moment I have time to PC game. When I do, it's mostly LoL, sometimes starcraft.

Just ask if you have any questions!

You should use monitor mounts perhaps. Cheap and tidy. Can probably even get some locally.

u/LEDsForEyes · 7 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

It's not like getting a monitor arm that clamps to your desk is expensive. This is $27 and hold up my 34" just fine. When you're already paying north of $1000 for a monitor.... what's another $30? Stands suck anyway. Free up that desk space!

Here it is!

u/wolfej4 · 4 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

Bottom monitor

Top monitor

Side monitor is a 24" HP I bought from WalMart.

Stand for the ultrawides is a this one and this one for the side monitor.

I ordered a new desk from Ikea early April but I only got it a week or so ago. It feels like ages but I'm just happy it's all here and it worked like I expected.

Other things:

  • Elgato Stream Deck
  • The Anchor under-desk headphone mount
  • Deathadder Chroma mouse
  • Blackwidow Chroma keyboard
  • Rode microphone stand
  • Blue Yeti Blackout microphone
  • Microsoft LifeCam Studio on the 34" - top right

My desktop is a prebuilt Dell with an i7-4790, but I added an SSD, swapped out the 1TB HDD for a 2TB when it crapped out, and added a GTX 1060.

A few things that I have bought myself recently that I think would make good presents are:

  • a giant mouse pad - I got this one but there are a ton of options which I'm sure are great

  • a mouse bungee

  • a Vesa mount which is an awesome option.

Doesn't need to be these brands, obviously, just what I happened to have bought recently.

Just finished building my pc a week or so ago, and I've been loving this monitor. Colors on it are good, not amazing, but for a TN display, very solid (after some calibration). I mostly picked it for the 144hz, and at its price point, it's an insane value. I'm running the 3gb version of the 1060, and games run buttery smooth. Destiny 2 on high settings reporting 100+ fps, Planetside 2 at 130+. Decided to go with the 3gb since I'm not particularly interested in 4k gaming or VR.

The stand is a little too short for my liking, with no height adjustment, so I decided to get a mount for it.

Here's what my current setup looks like and I couldn't be happier: https://imgur.com/a/Zijsc

u/Izzzzz · 3 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

I love it. Very smooth, played Forza Horizon 4 last night and it looked stunning running at about 90-100 fps. Colors look pretty good out of the box, although I havent calibrated it yet. No dead pixels, some, but I think minimal, light bleed in the bottom corners.

I have it on this stand which looks much much better than the one it came with which forced it too close to my face.

The best was my wife, who was not into the idea, even caved and said ok that is pretty fucking baller. :)

u/Bosox027 · 3 pointsr/battlestations

So I have this VIVO Single monitor arm for my main monitor and some ergonomic swivel monitor arm I got from my workplace's surplus (Was just going to go to a warehouse to be recycled, so I grabbed it). Hoinestly tho, getting 2 VIVO single arm mounts would work just as well if not better, considering the ergonomic arm wobbles more than the solid VIVO arm. Just be sure to get 2 single arms and not one dual arm, because I've seen images of the table giving in to all that weight concentrated on one area.

u/suey22 · 3 pointsr/ultrawidemasterrace

So I was in a similar situation except with a 34" UW and a 22" widescreen. I ended up just getting two individual mounts. Cost me only around $50 off amazon. Ergotron makes a gas spring dual mount but I'm not 100% sure it would fit and it's well over $150

I used these and they work perfectly.

Here is a pic of them set up.

Hey! Not op but there's a couple ways you can go about doing this. 1 and probably the easiest is to buy a monitor that can just flip outright. I personally found one on Craigslist for like 30 bucks. 2 and the cheapest way if you have high dollar monitors is to grab a mount from somewhere. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Articulating-STAND-V001/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1543568103&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=monitor+mount&dpPl=1&dpID=31qDzCQi0%2BL&ref=plSrch. I believe it's this one, I say that because that's the one I have and it looks exactly the same, it kinda sucks tho

before you say the base isn't the same, the stand comes with 2 bases, one for mounting on top of the desk (like in OP) and one that mounts to the side (like on the product page)

nvm lol

issues i'm having though are some annoyances with sleep and wake on the MBP, i have it set to not turn off (just the screen turns off) and when it does all the drives hooked up to the monitor eject. work around? besides that i may have to drop some of the setting down on Counter strike, getting a bit of choppy game play. monitor mount is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yeah! And for $50 more you can get their 27" 1440p 144hz. I can't attest to this one but I got last year's model of the 27" 1440p 144hz and it's been soooo nice. The included stand was terrible though, and it looks like this one isn't any better. Finally caved and got this bad boy a couple months ago and now it's basically everything I could want out of a monitor. Anyways I'm drunk rambling. Happy shopping!

Edit: While I'm at it, I generally approve of Monoprice cables, but their displayport cable had problems. Apparently a lot of companies make bad displayport cables because the displayport standard doesn't require the shielding necessary to send the signal without significant degradation. At least that's how it was a year ago. Amazon basics seems to make decent displayport cables though. I've used a few of them and never had any problems.

I recently was in the same position (though I have three monitors). I tried a triple arm but it did not seem stable at all supporting that much weight that spread out.

I returned that and bought three of these. Best decision as I can now position them wherever I want since they are not attached to each other. And the arm build quality is great; no worrisome drooping from the weight.

Honestly your better bet will be getting one solid mount meant for the size of the ultra wide, then one with more motion for your accessory monitor

I am working on a battle station right now that has a different but similar problem. My solution? Buy these one are monitor mounts. I am going to throw the tub away and just put the arm on my own piping. Then you have two poles, but I haven't seen a monitor mount that would hold both of those side by side

VIVO Single LCD Monitor Desk... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00B21TLQU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Cheap and easy! The only thing I don’t like is the long-ish bolt clamp that shows underneath. Very minor issue though.

u/The_Roptor · 2 pointsr/halo

I recommend looking on Amazon.com at brands like Vivo, Mount-It, and AmazonBasics for good mounts for reasonable prices.

If a single triple monitor mount is not enough to properly fit all of the monitors you could get 3 singles. Make sure all of your screens have VESA mounting holes. If they have different VESA mount sizes you can get size adaptors.

Triple monitor mount 1: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BDT072S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_VD5OCbJX1ZC75

Triple monitor mount 2 (more flexible): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9D7JWP/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_uD5OCbF76S6YM

Single monitor mount (X3): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_xE5OCbW8QX4H4

Once you go VESA mounted you never go back, so worth it man. I have my TV mounted on a VESA arm for playing Halo/Xbox, and my work desk has double monitor setup is VESA mounted too and it's worth the cleaness and space saving.

u/Kelsig · 2 pointsr/badeconomics

I have a 27" Korean 1440p IPS directly in front of me, and a 27" 1080p IPS to the left of that. Each are on separate mounts. Left one is vertical unless I'm using it for media, or have my laptop below it.

u/fri3ndlygiant · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I have one main rule that I like to stick by: anything that isn't necessary to see get it out of sight. What I mean by this is hide cables, move things off of your desk, possibly get a stand for your mac, and I also like using monitor arms like these:
https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Articulating-STAND-V001/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481067641&sr=8-3&keywords=single+monitor+arm

VIVO Single LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Fully Adjustable/Tilt/Articulating for 1 Screen up to 27" (STAND-V001) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_sBhMAbN62EDNX

u/sonsofaureus · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I have two 29 inch ultrawides one above the other. I did it the opposite way however - I have the bottom screen angled up, and the top monitor facing straight.

I pieced the monitor mount together using:

  1. a standing desk monitor pole mount with articulating arm
  2. a regular desk monitor pole mount with articulating arm

You just take the articulating arm from #2 and add it to the extra tall pole on #1. Save the extra pole for an intruder or something.
Unfortunately, they don't just sell the arm - the pole comes with it.

It might be easier to find a monitor that just has VESA compatible mounting options, and get a cheaper monitor arm like this one.

u/ownererz · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I have the exact mount that you linked with two different monitors, as long as they are roughly the same size it will work but it won't be perfect.

I have a buddy that uses two of these for his dual monitors instead as he claims that it allows him to balance to different monitors better however getting two single monitor mounts usually costs a little more.

u/avboden · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

yep, can either be cheap for hard-fixed arms with simple joints that you tighten/loosen or more expensive for gas-filled ones that you can adjust all you want.

Here is the one i'm using works pretty well, and unbeatable at $30. There's a single mount too if you don't have two monitors

For nicer expensive ones go Ergotron

u/SparkMonkay · 2 pointsr/Workspaces

Why don't you consider using a monitor arm? Like this here. I have a similar one. You should only check if your desk is "strong" enough. (Not one of the cheap IKEA Desks)

They make a short and tall version but I can't actually find the tall one at the moment on mobile. They're fantastic and are very clean looking.

The monitors are:
Main - LG 34UC88
TV - Samsung 32" (Old Model)
Drawing Monitor - Ugee 1910B

I'll try and post some PC specs later when I get home.

Full mobility, or just tilt/rotate?

I like these guys for full mobility: https://www.amazon.com/LX-Desk-Mount-LCD-Arm/dp/B00358RIRC You can rotate, move up/down, left/right, closer/farther, pivot, etc. There's dual monitor stands as well.

VIVO makes some nice/cheap stands as well, but they're stationary. You can move the screen closer, tilt, and rotate the screen, but height adjustment involves an allen wrench and getting up. https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Monitor-Adjustable-Articulating-STAND-V001/dp/B00B21TLQU

u/BassheadGamer · 2 pointsr/AskBattlestations

I use this one, very satisfied and moves pretty easily but only on the x axis. It does have tilt but from experience you have to pre adjust and lock it in via a provided hex key And as well as pre adjust height.

Here’s some pics of it in use. (27” monitor)

Some Do’s and dont’s?
If you have a cheaper desk, like mine (linnmon 47” wide), avoid having a lot of weight in the center to prevent your desk from morphing. I had to change mine from it being mounted in the center to about 1/4 deep into the desk to help prevent morphing. I noticed the weight is much more concentrated when mounted and not spread out as evenly as it was when it was on the desk.

Make sure you have enough cable slack so you can comfortably move your monitor if you plan on doing so.

And make sure that you tighten everything that needs to be tight. All the parts of the arm assembled correctly and your monitor mounted correctly.

BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY
Schedule a day for it. You don’t wanna rush it, cable manage right so it looks nice. It’s worth. If you want it angled and properly eye level or at a specific height or something, having another person help you really does make things easier.

u/G4bbr0 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Well, I guess then you really wanna go with the 1080p 240 Hz. I am sorry but I can't recommend other monitors as I have myself not considered part of the 240 Hz target group. The only other suggestions I have is to get a monitor stand like in the ink below. Also available if you have 2 monitors. Don't get botheredby the included stand. This one here is just an example but they got some at work for us and they are really great. You free up soooo much space on the desk. Best 20-30 $ spent!

  • H100i Pro for water cooling as you requested
  • X570 so no compatibility issues w/ zen 2
  • 3600 MHz RAM
    • Ryzen performance peaks at this RAM clock speed
      • Enable XMP (D. O. C. P.) in BIOS to hit full 3600 MHz RAM speed after booting
  • 1 TB SSD + 2 TB HDD
  • 2070 Super, will easily run 1080p at probably 200+ FPS

Definitely sturdy well built mounts. Holds up to 22 pounds. And very good articulation of the arms. I had some cheap monoprice ones before and they were awful and kept sagging down no matter how much I tightened the bolts.

Also if you're mounting tvs you will need a vesa adapter for each.

Edit: just saw your current setup, these mounts are safe to use on glass. I had a piece of cardboard cushioning the bottom of the adjustable portion of the clamp against the bottom of the glass surface. I had a glass desk prior to moving to the Ikea Linnmon special.

Actual setup: https://imgur.com/z79vymu Having the secondary on such a flexible mount means I can just swing it out, rotate, and have a proper landscape monitor when needed.

Ty for the compliments! I will link the monitor arm I used below but I am not sure if they have them in the UK. However, most VIVO monitor arms are very reliable if you could maybe find them on ebay. I have a Karlby Countertop so it is much heavier and sturdier than a Linnmon so I can't say for sure if yours will hold up. That's a VIVO Single Arm and yeah, it's mounted to the desk. (far left corner) Very solid but I think I'm going to move the arm closer to the center of the desk as it's basically fully extended. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B21TLQU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's one of those cheap 3 way mounts from Amazon. Got this open box for $26. Theres a video on YouTube on how it looks like. I like this mount but you have to unscrew to adjust up. It also won't tilt back all the way unless you put it on the side like how I've set it up but it's hard to complain for the price! :)

u/AeonStrike · 1 pointr/AskBattlestations

It depends on how you want to orient the screens (Side by Side, One over the other, one portrait one landscape)

Where are the VESA mount holes on the rear of the monitors? I have the 21:9 29" Crossover monitor and the VESA holes are off centered, making it difficult to find a capable mount. If the VESA holes are centered, than it will be easy. Because of the width of your monitors, a normal Dual Monitor arm system probably won't
work.

Again, depending on the configuration you want, you will probably need two of these type of mounts.

Maybe something like a monitor mount though I don't think any of them come up to your 3ft limit without some DIY work.

Or like claytakephotos said, a tripod with a tilting centerpost. I just got the Vanguard Alta Pro 263AT over the Manfrotto 055 and am happier with it. Cheaper, still heavy, good fit, good quality, and the centerpost allows any angle rather than manfrottos 0 or 90 only.

u/Breadley · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Do you NEED the gas spring arm? Do you find yourself adjusting height constantly?

If the wobble bothers you I would return the ergotech arm and buy a simple bar-clamp style arm. I have this one; the less moving parts the better. It adjusts to a comfortable height and is rock solid. Dramatically reduced wobble.

I purchased two of these. A fellow UW subscriber suggested them to me. I much, much prefer having two singles over a double or triple. IMO adjusting, moving, and the weight is wayyy easier to manage. Zero complaints so far.

u/raginreefer · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

Idk why but I'm hesitant putting 2 ultrawides on a double mount.

I might upgraded to something a lot more sturdy, but I bought a 25$ single monitor mount that supports 20lbs for my one ultrawide, it's a LG 29". The mount has been good and pretty sturdy and it's nice having more room on my desk, I'm thinking of buying another ultrawide and another of the same mounts this upcoming paycheck.

I want to give the TV I have to my sis and do a dual monitor setup for my PC and hook one of the monitors to my PS4.

This is the monitor mount I got - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_6fXNBb7DG1HPW

Edit: my only gripe with this mount is that the screws for the bracket have a plastic top, the screws are metal but the top are plastic and I stripped the plastic on one of them. I called the manufacturer of the mount and asked for the exact measurements of the screw, which were M4x12 0.7 thread pitch and got some full metal replacements from a local hardware store.

I have to move soon and didn't want strip the plastic screw tops on them breaking it down, moving and setting it up again.

u/MorallyQuestionable · 1 pointr/ultrawidemasterrace

I just got my PG348Q a few days ago and quickly realized I needed a monitor arm as it takes up most of the space on my desk. I spent hours searching and looking for a mount the other day and finally settled on this one:

  • Vivo Single LCD Monitor Desk Mount -- Video Review

The primary reason I purchased this one was because it was the only one that offered 2-day shipping via Amazon Prime. I didn't want to wait 1-2 weeks to get it. I'm somewhat impatient. :)

But that said, I was ready to purchase the Freedom Arm if I could find it anywhere that offered better shipping options:

  • Ergotech Freedom Arm Mount -- Video Review -- Some have suggested the HD version, but most have said it's overkill for this monitor, so the non-HD version is likely to work just fine.

  • AmazonBasics Single Monitor Display Mounting Arm -- Video Review

  • AC Z1 3D MONITOR ARM

Mind you I am in Canada, so the shipping options to the US will be better.

These recommendations are based off research that indicates they all support the PG348Q, or a 34" monitor of similar weight without any issue.

Also, I have a very solid desk, so I cannot comment on what would work for you, but as others have already suggested, you'll most likely need to replace your desk to support your monitor.

    Hope this helps!
u/jlee755 · 1 pointr/buildapc

VESA mounts are just referring to the type of standardized mount on the back of monitors. How a manufacturer decides to use that mount leads to products like clamping monitor arms or multiple monitor stands or simply just stand replacements.

I can't seem to find any mounts with a weighted stand to use for a monitor arm.

Here's an example of how a clamp might work on a desk. There shouldn't be any damage to the desk.

I'll be a sophomore this year and brought mine last year when I was on campus as a freshman. I didn't use it much because I was either studying or when I had free time I was out or hanging with friends but I'm still happy I brought it. When I wanted to play games or watch tv away from my roommate I could. A recommendation of mine would be to get one of those Vivo monitor stands on amazon and to get a compact keyboard like a poker or something along the lines. Both of these will save you lots of desk space.

Exactly. If you're considering moving the stools anyway, just put the PC and PS4 down there. Looking at monitor arms for my new monitors, I'm troubled by whether I should buy a gas spring mount or a metal bar one. Looking at the VIVO brand on Amazon. I currently have a 27" and looking to get a 24" one, so having 2 different sizes (so something like this VIVO won't work well since I can't adjust them separately.

The only worry is that the gas spring mount will fail over time versus the bars (granted they both can fail). Any recommendations or am I worrying over something minuscule? I was looking at the STAND-V002JB versus getting two STAND-V001.

Wow super necro bump.

> you really want a cheaply made stand and/or VESA adapter?

Lower prices do not mean cheaper build quality. Additionally, higher prices do not necessarily make the build quality of a product better.

> Remember, this isn’t just an iMac stand, this can be rotated, adjusted up and down, and stays at any angle you play pace it, as well as detaching easily with the press of a button.

here’s a very popular monitor mount . It can do all of those things except eject the monitor. And to me, that’s not a big deal. How often are you really undocking your monitor? It’s not a laptop: you won’t be pulling this out of your office every day. It’s nice to have, sure, but not necessary.

As another counterpoint, virtually every Dell monitor has this “press a button to detach” feature, yet their mounts are a whopping 86.00 new

u/le_dy0 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Go to the monitors page on the acer website and search for vesa mount on the specifications (yours is 100x100mm), the most common are 75x75mm and 100x100mm. btw "Vesa" are those holes in the back of your monitor, sometimes is where the stand screws are.

After knowing that its just a matter of searching for a mount with that size.

There are 2 types of wallmounts

This that can be moved closer to you if needed (I like this type as I have USB ports on my monitor and it helps to remove or insert them again, and you have a lot more freedom with this type)

And this that stays flush against the wall and you cant really move it (dont really recommend this type tbh)

Have you though about monitor arms tho? I just prefer them over wall mounts, no need to drill the wall and you still save a lot of space on your desk.

This should work for your LG 25UM65 above the X34, but it'll be close and it doesn't have a lot of flexibility in terms of movement.

Loctek D7H: https://www.amazon.com/Loctek-D7H-supports-monitors-weighting/dp/B016M1LYA0/ref=sr_1_1?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1469722401&sr=1-1&keywords=D7H
Looks slick and has great movement. If your X34 is pushed all the way down on the stand, this SHOULD have enough clearance for the other monitor... might be close, but this gives you the flexibility to move the monitor around as you see fit.

Personally I've got a D7H for my X34 and I've got an old ASUS above it on the STAND-V001. I actually have my x34 on the stand ATM as I just got it and wanted ot make sure it worked before I mounted it... The first one didn't and it was a pain in the ass because I mounted it before testing (oops.. don't do that.)

You can see how they look stacked up with both mounted on the arms here:

I used Vivo! monitor stands. Its actually a mix-match of several.

The left two are supported by this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009S750LA

the right two are supported by a combination of:

  1. pole from 1x http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FPTHAOA
  2. arms from 2x http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B21TLQU

Because Vivo doesnt make Tall pole with arms. I can understand, they are worrying about the structural integruity if someone tries to arm up 3 monitors on one pole, and I will be honest the torque that my top monitor is putting on that pole is quite a bit, it definitely bent out a few degrees from the strain; however given how relatively light these monitors are (27" qnix, very litle plastic and a thin led panel) and the very high quality of the pole+arm mounts (I VERY MUCH RECOMMEND the mounts by the way) I am not worried a lot -- but I will be keeping an eye on it.

Oh and yeah, the "perfectly organized" comment. I so agree. It actually irks me when people put up a picture of a setup so clean, its like they put it together just to show off. Like thsoe people who fill their shelves with books they never once cracked open but are considered classics so they want to show it off. I work here, I game here, its a big part of my life and its not perfect, but its damn efficient and it has everything that I need.

A lot of the arms like this one and the one that I ordered come with an adapter for the hole so you'd just need to drill the one large hole in the desk and clamp mount it in the hole.

I have a 34” wide screen mounted to my standing desk, and I use a dual monitor gas shock articulating arm system (the other monitor is a vertical 27”)

The main issue I see with it is that the monitor is so wide that it’s hard to keep it perfectly straight, it has a weird “center of balance” which makes it rotate on the mount very easily, I can only imagine this would be even more pronounced for you.

Id probably recommend a single monitor mount for you.

This is the standard one;

This is the articulating one, which may give you rotation issues (although maybe it’s just me).
