I use this, it comes in 2tb and 4 tb also. But the Wii wont read any partition over 2tb.

My 1tb holds 200 wii games 100 gamecube games and the entire NES, Snes, Gamboy and Sega genesis libraries along with a shit load of games for Atari, NeoGeo, Turbografx16 and a few N64 games. All that only takes up half the drive.

Full games too, no scrubs.

Option 1: Test your HDD first with any of these free tools. You may need to replace the HDD. It's very easy to replace the hard drive and RAM in a laptop. It takes only a few minutes in most cases. Google your laptop model + "replace HDD" or "swap HDD" to find the instructions. If you don't know your model number, there should be a sticker on the bottom of the laptop or near the battery that lists the model number and serial number. If the sticker is gone, you can use Speccy to find all the information about your computer and hardware. I don't know why you would think it would be difficult to swap the HDD. Get the WD Black 1 TB currently on sale until midnight tonight and swap the drives. You can also check out these laptop HDDs from Newegg and these laptop HDDs from PC Part Picker. If you want to try to save anything from the old drive, get a dual docking station like this Thermaltake BlacX Duet Hard Drive Enclosure Docking Station so you can clone the HDD or just copy the data.

Option 2: Since you said the data is porn, I'm leaning towards the fact that you may have a virus/malware infection. I would try these steps and see if they help at all.

  1. Download ComboFix, HitmanPro, Malwarebytes, Bitdefender Rescue CD, and the Bitdefender free 30-day trial of Bitdefender Internet Security or Bitdefender Total Security. If you want to know the difference between the versions of Bitdefender, check the comparison chart.

  2. Install ComboFix, let it run the scans, remove anything bad it finds, and restart the PC.

  3. Install HitmanPro, let it run the scans, remove anything bad it finds, and restart the PC.

  4. Install Malwarebytes, let it run the scans, remove anything bad it finds, and restart the PC.

  5. If there was anything that couldn't be removed in regular Windows, restart the PC in safe mode and run the scans again.

  6. Boot the PC from the Bitdefender Rescue CD before Windows starts and let it run the scans and then restart the PC. Here are instructions on how to make the Bitdefender Rescue CD. If you need more directions on how to use the Bitdefender Rescue Disk, check these instructions from Bitdefender or these instructions from How To Geek.

  7. Install the 30-day free trial of Bitdefender Internet Security or Total Security and let it run a full scan just to make sure everything is clean.

  8. Purchase Bitdefender Internet Security, Bitdefender Total Security, or another good, paid anti-virus program. According to tests, research, and my personal experience, Bitdefender is the best antivirus for home Windows users. (No, I do not work for Bitdefender or any antivirus or software company, nor do I get any kickbacks for promoting them and never have. I just recommend what I've found is the best option.) I use Bitdefender Internet Security or Total Security on all my computers and recommend it to all my clients. There's no reason to pay $50+ for a paid antivirus. I always buy mine on sale and have never paid more than $20 for a 2 year/3 PC subscription. Sometimes I even get paid antivirus programs for free after the rebate. Watch the sales from different retailers like Newegg: Antivirus & Internet Security, Amazon: Antivirus & Security, Best Buy: Antivirus, Security & Utilities, Staples: Antivirus Software, and eBay: Antivirus & Security Software. There are always sales or rebates so there's no reason to pay full retail price for any antivirus. (If you would like to see the links and research proving the Bitdefender is the best antivirus, feel free to PM me or comment on here and I will be happy to share them with you.)

  9. Backup your PC or at least your important files. If you don't have an external hard drive, use a free cloud service like Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive to back up your most important data. Every computer owner should have an external hard drive and perform weekly backups. If you have a laptop or prefer portable storage, a Western Digital My Passport (Amazon link for My Passport) or Western Digital My Passport Ultra (Amazon link for My Passport Ultra)are great choices. If you have a desktop computer or need more storage space, check out the Western Digital My Book (Amazon link for My Book).

You can find it here. I wouldn't worry about the 3 star review, it works seamlessly.

I've used 3 WD 1-2 TB external hard drives in the past 3 years with no issues or failures (I get a new one each year). Link

This one works perfectly with USB Loader GX, Nintendont, and Devolution.

Oh, that's easy. Hands down, Samsung 850 Evo. 16,000+ reviews on Amazon, 4.8/5. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U

Smaller capacity, but an extremely reliable, extremely fast drive. Unfortunately, I don't have a whole lot of experience with 2.5" enclosures, so I wouldn't know what to recommend for that.

Another option to consider would be just getting a prebuilt 2.5" enclosed drive, like a WD MyPassport: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I/

It's a 5400rpm drive, but it's ready to use out the box.

u/barterback · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

Can I use 1 TB or 2 TB external hard drive like this for Sentry mode, so I do not have to worry about emptying it out for at least a month? They cost under $50.

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I

  • They seem to have good read/write speed, so should be able to handle fast and multiple writes?
  • Will Tesla Model 3 USB port be able to keep this external hard drive charged?
u/Schwaggaccino · 2 pointsr/wiiu

That one was D/Ced. Also I have that one but for laptop stuff and at 2tb.

You think the new model will work?

u/forgotmypasswordlolk · 2 pointsr/WiiHacks

Sure! I have 6 of these, work 100% perfect, hooked to Wii's 24/7 (quite a few posts around here asking if this one works, others have confirmed as well)

I also have quite a few of these around the house, these are the ones I put on gifted wii's, and they also work perfect! (few posts around here about this one too lol)

Both are sold at walmart and best buy as well, if you don't wanna wait for shipping.

u/runninger · 2 pointsr/college

I'd recommend everyone shell out ~$60 to buy something similar to this external hard drive and routinely make backups. That's probably the safest way to store your data and documents.

u/Beastddude · 1 pointr/Firearms

I just picked up one of these.

u/ghillie62 · 1 pointr/computers

I use a 1TB Western Digital My Passport. It works great for everything I need it to do, which is storing videos for editing in Premiere. Here's a link to one on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LQQHI8I/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492019891&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=wd+my+passport+1tb&dpPl=1&dpID=41Y8BfbFlqL&ref=plSrch

The number ONE thing to know is: don't put REALLY private stuff on electronic devices, especially ones connected to the outside world. Naked pictures of yourself and/or partner, records of illegal activity, confessions of shameful thoughts, etc. Just don't put them on electronic devices.

A list (including the one above):

Computer privacy, security and safety:

1- Set passwords on your devices. Even the same 4-digit PIN on all of your devices; some password is better than no password.

2- Write email address on outsides of your devices, so if they're lost, someone can return them to you.

3- Make backups of your important data. Maybe using an encrypted external disk drive (such as WD 1 TB hard drive ($60 on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LQQHI8I/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B01LQQHI8I&linkCode=as2&tag=billdietshome-20&linkId=1eef8977a362f42f9c4b596bb53bcc51 )) or a free cloud service (such as IDrive: https://www.idrive.com/ ).

4- Keep your software updated. Turn on auto-update where possible.

5- Install an anti-virus program (such as AVG: http://free.avg.com/ ).

6- Don't put really private stuff on electronic devices or on the internet.

7- Use a password manager (such as KeePass: http://keepass.info/ ) so you can use strong passwords without having to memorize all of them.

8- Don't worry about the NSA or the Russians spying on you. Worry about you accidentally deleting something important, or your hard disk crashing, or you losing your phone, or someone stealing it.

9- Use the privacy controls in the ISP and social networks and sites you use. Very important: Log on to the web site for your ISP and find any privacy settings they have for your account.

Hey,

For a good built laptop with decent specs, how about the Acer Swift 3? It has:

  • i5-8250U 4-core processor

  • 8 GB of RAM

  • 256 GB SSD storage

  • MX150 2 GB graphics card

  • 1080p 14" display

  • Weight of 3.8lbs and battery life up to 10 hours

This laptop runs Windows 10 Home. The laptop doesn't have an HDD included, so you can use an external one for storing photos like this 1 TB external HDD. The MX150 graphics card should be excellent for casual games. It will be strong enough and light enough for travelling.
u/pipboy90 · 1 pointr/techsupport

I was considering this, but the case itself looks pretty hard to get into. No open holes or creases:

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I

I think there's something physically wrong with the drive itself. I've been trying to decide if it's worth paying hundreds of dollars to try and recover the data or not.

u/GhostBond · 1 pointr/buildapc
  1. All hdd's make noise when they're on and connected
  2. Some are really irritating, I had an external hdd that I really hated because of the annoying noises it would make while plugged in (regardless of if being actively read from or not)
  3. They're slow as heck to read/write from compared to an ssd, especially for large files like movies.
  4. You're going to have it on while watching the movie and noise during the movie can be annoying

    Let's compare costs.

    A wd 1tb external drive costs $50:
    https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I/

    A 1tb ssd + $8 sata usb cable costs $100 total:
    https://www.microcenter.com/product/508183/1tb-ssd-3d-nand-sata-iii-6gb-s-25-internal-solid-state-drive
    https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-SATA-Drive-Adapter-Cable/dp/B00HJZJI84/

I just made a similar decision, sold my external drive, use an external ssd for backup. At 1tb I feel it's worth it for sure to not have to deal with an hdd. If I needed say 4tb's it would be hard to justify the cost difference but at 1tb for $50 it was easy.
u/Ronald_McGonagall · 1 pointr/wiiu

Is this a good external hard drive to get? I need like 10 extra GB at most and this is the cheapest I can find while still appearing reliable

u/WoundedWarsong · 1 pointr/WiiHacks

Update: I've installed/updated all custom cIOS I need through using ModMii.

My External HDD is this guy.

For some reason, HBC will not recognize apps off the root of my external HDD. I thought maybe it was because I didn't install something correctly, or maybe the external HDD wasn't compatible... but if I run something like Nintendont off the SD and then load a game through the USB/HDD it will read and play the game fine.

Should I just use the SD + External HDD in tandem or am I missing something?

I don't see the reason why HBC won't load everything off the external.

It's formatted in FAT32 (32k cluster)

Get WD My Passport: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01LQQHI8I/

Bought it in last year from Amazon, working fine.

It has extra 1 year warranty and better build than element series.

u/danielwarfield99 · 1 pointr/playstation

There are 2 simple answers to this (non sarcasm when I say this)

1:pick up a small hard drive, 1tb is about $50 I know it seems like a lot but definitely worth the investment. I highly recommend this one

Western Digital 1TB Black My Passport Portable External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 - WDBYNN0010BBK-WESN https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LQQHI8I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_by4lDbGD2YFV4

I got the 4tb and have had it for almost 3 years with no issues.

2: You can delete a game you don't play much, don't delete the save file just the game itself. That way if you ever get a bigger harddrive you can redownload the game and lose no data.

Playstation can be a POS sometimes and sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet. Hope this helps man! Goodluck!

u/lRevenant · 1 pointr/PS4

I have this SSD in 2TB, I bought it for £100 2years ago.

This is 1TB for £59.79 Seagate ST1000LX015 FireCuda 1 TB 5400 RPM 2.5 PS4

on my current PS4 pro it shows 775.5 GB/1.77TB with 16 digital games installed. The highest is Black Ops 3 being 113.9gb with all the DLCs.

So you’ll need more than 500gb current stock hard drives even if you install 2-5 Triple A games you’ll be running out.

Edit my bad, I’d say these 2 external HDD Seagate 1 TB Backup Plus Slim USB 3.0 Portable 2.5 Inch External Hard Drive for £42.99

Just buy this stylish Western digital 1TB for £41.49
You cant get any better than that because 500gb external hard drive goes for the same price and WD is good quality.

WD My Passport 1 TB Portable

Good luck.

I have a friend who wanted a portable hard drive for movies and TV shows, so I bought her This ( https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01LQQHI8I/ ) and loaded it up for her with movies and shows.

Then she tells me she needs it to work on an Ipad that only has a lightning 2 port. So I was about to grab her This ( https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07LBF494N ) But the description has language that makes me think that maybe it wont work for anything but picture files (WTF?), Plus research suggests that the lightning port doesn't output any voltage that can be used to spin the drive.

So then I find this one ( https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07K45JZN4/ ) since it takes an external power input, but it says that it will only work for drives under 100mah.

So... is this ever going to work? Can her Ipad use a portable hard drive at all? And if so, what connector do I need to use for it?

u/Str8Nirvana · 1 pointr/gaming

Usually in the $50-$100 range.
https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I
Depends on how big you want though.
If you're looking to download games like Gears of War 4 you're looking at games being 100+ gigabytes large.
In that case you may want to buy a 2tb to be safe.

Yep. A "clean install" means getting rid of all the data on your hard drive, as if it's starting from a clean slate. I'd recommend backing up all your data to a separate drive if you have one handy.

https://www.amazon.com/Black-Passport-Portable-External-Drive/dp/B01LQQHI8I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1524381270&sr=8-4&keywords=western+digital+1tb

I personally use this external HDD to back up my data before a wipe and reinstall, but point is backups are crucial even when you're not reinstalling (but especially when you are), and I suggest having a backup on hand at all times in the event your internal hard drive were to die.
