I ended up buying a slightly used Dell XPS15 9570 (less than a year old) for cheap off a friend who needed to switch to an Apple. It has 4k screen 8750H cpu, and GTX 1050Ti. Its a nice machine, and will perform well enough when travelling. I bought an Aorus Gaming Box 2070 for when at destination or home (basically its like a Thunderbolt Dock/hub with a graphics card for only $300 more). Upgraded memory and SSD. I miss a 10-key, but got a bluetooth one that works well. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GWSLSVP/ Weight is higher, and batterylife is lower, but overall it was worth it for the deal I got.

By the way, here are the links to the ones in the picture:

Neither one of them is *bad*, I was just curious if there was something in between the two in price.

\^ This guy is pretty nice too, probably the closest to matching the compactness of the Yoda II. I don't love red switches, but if you don't mind them, it's got relatively high praise.

There are a lot of general-purpose programmable hardware keyboards, and historically, there have been plenty of good navigation clusters. But finding something with the good old familiar shape that's actually in stock at a store is "abandon all hope, all ye who attempt this" level difficult. ಠಗಠ

And of course the sky's the limit if you turn it into a weekend project to make something yourself. I don't mind building, but it usually turns into a month-long project of obsessing over every single detail until I forgot why I started it, lol.
