Yep, I started wearing shirt stays about two years ago and have worn them every day since. No more tucking my shirt back in 1,000 times a day! These are what I have: https://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Shirt-Stays-Stay-Plus/dp/B00PYKPB3M/ref=sr_1_5_mimg_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522944633&sr=8-5&keywords=shirt+stays

I'm not sure what part of the human experience I'm forfeiting by trying to keep my shirt tucked in while moving.

If yall don't go out and get some shirt stays and stop looking tacky everytime yall stand up.

First: Sorry I don't have more photos yet!

THE RECAP

We tried to do our destination wedding an inexpensively as possible as it was combined with our honeymoon, but we definitely splurged on our photographers. They were over 50% of our budget and totally worth it. Our parents and siblings were the only attendees so we ate at the Majestic Yosemite Hotel Dining Room (paid for by his parents), had a ceremony in Cook's Meadow (officiated by my dad), took photos with them before they were freed to explore the park, hiked around for a few hours with our amazing photographers, soaked up the moment at Glacier Point after sunset, then ate some cheesecake and called it a night. We had rented a cabin for the whole family in Yosemite West, which turned out to be totally perfect as a base for a few days.

THE BREAKDOWN

Note: I did not include our airfare as the wedding was a stop on the way to Hawaii for our honeymoon.

  1. Bride

  • Dress: $300, Moonlight Tango T711. I posted about this before; I got it at a wedding dress consignment shop where money goes to cancer support groups in the area. Though technically it was silver, it was pretty blue to me so this counted as my something blue.

  • Alterations: $120. This included removing the crinoline, letting the waist out a hair, and shorting the length.

  • Jewelry: $0. borrowed pearl necklace from mom, other jewelry I had

  • Ring: $1085, custom morganite and rose gold -- in hindsight, I guess this must be my something new

  • Shoes: $0. old hiking boots

  • Hair/Make up: $0. After getting a quote that HMU in Yosemite was an average $750, this was all DIY. And after a windy day a few days before, I decided as I was getting ready for an updo. SIL and MIL totally winged it and it looked amazing (and stayed all dang day).

  1. Groom

  • Sharkskin slim fit suit: $125.75 shipped. We went to Men's Warehouse and found a $600 suit he liked, came home and bought it online. I think this is it. Moral of the story: Men's Warehouse is insanely priced.

  • Slim-fit charcoal vest: $19.99 on Amazon

  • Shirt-stays: $19.99 on Amazon. Another redditor recommended these and Husband says they were a total MUST! Thank you, stranger!

  • Shoes: $0. Regular ol' tennis shoes, safer for climbing around.

  • Peach Tie: Kohl's cash, otherwise $20

  1. Flowers: $61.34. Purchased at Hobby Lobby (I'm so ashamed of that but the colors there were the best match) and assembled. They were padded to hell in my checked suitcase, but survived transit very well.

  2. Ceremony

  • Location: $150 park permit

  • Officiant: $30 for my dad to get a 1-day State of California deputization to conduct the ceremony (he paid this, but I'll include it anyway)

  • Paperwork: $60 for license

  1. Cheesecake: $38 (seriously so delicious)

  2. Photographer, DC Photo in Frenso, CA: $2885.23. 100% worth such a huge part of the budget. Photos were incredible important to us so this was really well spent, in our opinion. They were funny, professional, and man, they knew every cool nook and cranny to try.

    Total: 4,895.30

I don't actually have any idea what the lunch cost, and the 6-bedroom cabin we rented for 3 nights was $2400 but our guests offered to divide the costs and cover it (still less expensive than 4 rooms, 3 nights at the Majestic).

    TAKE AWAYS

When 96,000 acres are burning between the county clerk's office and your ceremony site less than a month before your wedding and the park is indefinitely closed, worrying about small wedding details sure seems silly. I was a pretty relaxed bride anyway, but that put perspective on me that everything was going to happen the way it would happen and no matter what, it was going to be a wonderful day. And besides, the best parts are the things you can't plan.

With only 5 guests, I never expected much attention on our wedding day. I was honestly stunned when we got to the Majestic (our first stop all dressed up) and everyone in the dining room stood and applauded as we entered the room. I couldn't believe this massive room of strangers paused from their own meals, even ordering, to show so much love to a couple of people in fancy clothes. Such a small shared gesture, but it was a very humbling moment to me that made me feel so connected to each of those people. And they were only the first! Every staff person paused as they continued their jobs to congratulate us privately, several people in the gift shop told me how beautiful I looked, and before we even walked out of the hotel, we must've heard congratulations 20 more times. Outside we ran into people before the ceremony, and many more after, who stopped on the sidewalk or trail to tell us congratulations, or offered us kind words of support and advice. Cars full of people would yell "congratulations" out their windows, cheer as they passed, or honked like crazy. In all my research on weddings in Yosemite, I never saw anyone talk about how everyone in the park is so freaking pumped to see a wedding.

People love Love. And it made our wedding so much more special to share our happiness with hundreds of strangers. <3

Just FYI, look into shirt stays. These keep my shirts tucked and straight all day long. No wrinkles, bunching or mid-day re-tuck ever again. They look like awkward stirrups but after a few wears, I was used to them and they are completely invisible.

I use this, they do a great job.

Aside from shirts looking great, people think I've lost ten pounds.

I work at a very conservative insurance company.
They expect us to dress way nicer now than is typical for IT, because many of our sister companies are in banking/finance.
My advice - push for Dress shirt and slacks with a tie and sport jacket during meetings. A good suit is a liability in a data center, but if it's a dress shirt and slacks you can get by with nice wrinkle free shirts, a decent v neck undershirt, and these : http://www.511tactical.com/covert-khaki-pants.html (snip the zipper pulls off the concealed pockets), and a pair of shirt stays (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PYKPB3M). Throw in a good pair of dark athletic socks, and a nice belt, and you have a good day to day outfit that holds up in a datacenter environment, and still looks professional. Keep a tailored sport jacket and a couple of tie's in your office, and that way you can quickly step things up for meetings.

It takes a little more thought and alot of peopel were pissed when they pushed the dress code to IT, but I'll be honest- it was the right call. It's subtle, but we started getting better cooperation from some of the other business units, they stopped treating IT like the red headed step child, and started working with us more.

Edit: DURHUR WHY WOULD YOU WEAR SHIRT STAYS IT ISN'T 1900'S ANYMORE!! HERPADERP.
Because if you do any lifting, carrying, squatting, or bending over to reach things in a dress shirt and pants, it totally untucks your shirt and you look like a dumbass always having to tuck it in. Shirt stays solve this problem. Thats why their still popular with police, military personelle, and paramedics. Shirt stays are friggin awesome if your expected to engage in physical activity while wearing a dress shirt. (they also keep your shirt in the most flattering position at all times)

I'm late here, but hopefully this helps. I think the two things that makes a shirt look "crappy" are the material and not fitting properly.

Not sure of your build but I'm 5'9", 165 lb. I used to wear Express but found that their slim fit was way too tight on my shoulders and their normal ("modern") fit is unbearably large around my waist, so it was always hanging/bunching over my belt and looked horrible. Also the material was kind of junky so they wrinkled easily.

I have found that Banana Republic Grant (their slim fit) shirts fit the best. Good quality fabric and tight around the waist so they're not bunching/hanging out.

Also maybe consider getting a shirt stay. It clasps to the bottom of your shirt and then to your socks and keeps your shirt tucked in all day.

I have also found he Express slim fit suits are inexpensive, and fit/look great. If you check frequently you can get them, or at the very least blazers, for <$200.

My fellow gentleman you've been missing out: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PYKPB3M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_wO8pzbF1CK5XY

You should "actually" try these for a week. I made that mistake at first, but I'm on my 3rd set. Worst-case you try it for a week, don't like it and then simply return it.

I also find that a bamboo cotton undershirt does a fair job at keeping a shirt tucked in.

Additionally a tailored shirt plays a role in this as well of course.

Combine all 3 and this problem is 99% solved. Always good to leave a margin of error. ;D

Note: The metal on these clips tend to rust after a couple years, however, the strap are very soft and comfortable which I why I've reordered from this company. If anyone has used other clips with more durable metal while maintaining the comfort of the straps then please make a recommendation.

That's my 2 cents.

If it was a top it'd be never fit the same way. It'd keep riding up and ruin the effect.

Now that being said I use shirt garters for special occasions, maybe they'd work with this if you're wearing trousers and socks.

I would avoid "high-rise" jeans, but a normal, not low-rise jean should be the most flattering and will make your butt look better than low-rise.

Have you tried shirt stays?
