Here are my cheapo recommendations and what I paid for them. Prices can vary as they go in and out of stock frequently. I recently ran 8.5 miles at 73 minutes in 20F and this gear worked well for me...

[ASICS Lite-Show Beanie, Black, One Size $5.23] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AJ38MBW/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item) - Fits comfortably, is very warm and reflective. It stays in place while running. Looks a bit funky but I absolutely love this hat.

Tesla New Men's Compression Tights Under Leggings Base Layer Gear Wear Pants $13.90 - Keeps my legs warm while not being bulky or restrictive. A decent base layer that is affordable and comfortable. I would recommend getting 2 sizes larger than normal though as they are based on Asian fitting sizes and can be pretty small.

[Tesla Men's Thermal & Cool Compression Under Base Layer Wear Long Sleeve -T $13.90] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LNCVSB4/ref=pe_385040_30332200_TE_item) - Same advice about sizing as with the pants, they make a decent and warm base layer.

Mizuno Running Breath Thermo Run Glove, Large, Black/Red $4.77 - The gloves won't seem warm at first but once you are 10 minutes into your run they work really well.

BLACK NEOPRENE FACE MASK $1.34 - It's surprisingly very comfortable and warm considering the price. A great bargain IMHO. Ships from China though so it will take about 2 weeks to arrive.

TITLE Boxing Poly-Pro Warm-Up Suit Black/Red $39.99 - I wear this over my base layer and the set up keeps me warm and comfortable at 20F. Jacket and pants have 2 pockets each with zippers which I find to be very handy.

This and this would make my new running regime much easier! (boob bounce...need I say more?)

The person I love my most is probably my little sister. She's nearly 10 years younger than me, so I sort of tried to mother her while I was growing up! She is a very brave, strong, determined little girl, who has such a big heart, and is slowly growing up to be even more amazing! I can't wait for her to be old enough to come and visit me, and come to the pub with me, because I love talking to her even now, and she's only 11 :)

Sorry this is a terrible picture, I made like three attempts and I just can never do her justice and can only do stick people - My sister (ish)

Number... erm, 436

And you - have an even more fantastic day, you horribly generous, lovely person you. :)

I love buying attractive fitness wear - putting on leggings or a workout tshirt I love can give me the extra motivation I need to actually get to the gym early in the morning!

I don't know if these guys are UK Amazon only, but I have had great luck with leggings from a brand called TCA. They are high-waisted which I find very flattering, they are stretchy but also have some compression, and most importantly they pass the squat test! I love them but the only negative I can think of is that they are a little long thanks to the stretch - I'm 5'6 and they can stretch down over my heels easily. This has never bothered me because I just pull the cuffs up but perhaps it could be annoying for others.

I have these ones in mint: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N0TIKOQ/ref=twister_B01NCORHCB

These ones in like...every colour: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TCA-SpaceKnit-Premium-Running-Workout/dp/B01EG5LD7I/ref=sr_1_5?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1517479818&sr=1-5&keywords=tca+leggings

And these in dandelion: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TCA-SpaceKnit-Premium-Running-Workout/dp/B01EG5LD7I/ref=sr_1_5?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1517479818&sr=1-5&keywords=tca+leggings

This is awesome! I train year round in Boston and can recommend some of my favorite stuff.

Hats/Headbands: Skida https://skida.com/collections/all - their alpine line is cozy and lined with fleece; the nordic line is more lightweight for warm-ish winter days. And the designs are awesome

Oiselle- their lux fabric is amazing. If you sign up for the mailing list they do a decent amount of good sales.

Favorite Saucony running gloves: http://www.saucony.com/en/swift-glove/13988W.html?dwvar_13988W_color=SA90501-BKHTG#cgid=womens-apparel-accessories&start=1

Brooks makes a really good vest which keeps your core warm but doesn't overheat you: http://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/womens-running-jackets-and-running-vests/

These are my fav tights for cold but not freezing days: https://www.amazon.com/New-Balance-Womens-Accelerate-Tights/dp/B00R7ADQUM

Darn tough wool socks are amazing for winter: https://darntough.com/collections/womens-run/products/double-cross-tab-no-show-light-cushion-1?variant=30180943687

I could go on but that's probably a good start!

u/gr8whodeenie · 2 pointsr/homeless

These are worth their weight in printer ink. Calls of "spare change?" should be met with these.

Also This and This are both dandy to have in cold weather!

If on the off chance you are in Blackheath...and if by some fate that shop happens to be Shepherds Grocery across from the train station, the mans name is Kevin, and he is as harmless and sweet as he is frightening and scary looking. If this is the case, please include a note to tell him that his American friends love and miss him dearly.

Cheers! Nice one :)

These are what I used last winter when I worked in a freezing grocery store. They're running gloves but extremely light and somehow really warm and have good dexterity too. I got them at costco but here they are on amazon. Not water proof though, so not good for rain but good for cold outdoor exercise. Like I would go walk my dog in like 40 degree weather in the evening and be good with them.

I live in MN and have been trying to run through the winter for the last two years. Though, last year wasn't as much as it kept being below zero and snowing - below 0 F is my limit and neighbors don't always shovel right away. I have two pairs of cold weather running tights: UnderArmour cold gear and fleece lined tights from the Target C9 line. Seconding that C9 recommendation, though I believe that line is being discontinued and not quite sure what they're replacing it with.

I usually wear a variation of the following, depending on exactly how cold it is:

- Cold weather tights above

- Long sleeve technical shirt. All of mine are from races.

- Either a light jacket (all from races) or my North Face shell. I got the North Face on sale late winter at a running store. With the jackets, I often wear a short sleeve as I don't tend to like layering over long sleeves as much.

- These touchscreen gloves. I often take them off halfway through, but they're nice to have to start.

If it's real cold I might wear Smartwool wool socks, but my feet don't usually get that cold on runs.

Definitely recommend trying Yaktrax or something else with traction. I believe I just have the normal style and there are some specific for running now. I like mine because they do allow me to get out when it's too icy to do so otherwise, but they do take some time to put on and take off. I don't love running in them as they feel clunky, make loud noises when you hit a dry patch and just generally slow me down. But, it's definitely better than not getting out there at all.

I love the workout clothing at Target and Old Navy and I refuse to pay more than $20 for something so I can usually buy something off the clearance rack. There's a New Balance Factory Store in Brighton where you might find some good deals. I use dressmyrun.com as a guide for how to dress but usually the rule of thumb is dress as if it's 10 degrees warmer, when you go out you should feel a little cold. You'll quickly warm up once you get moving. I usually wear shorts and a technical short sleeve t shirt if it's 55 degrees or above, long sleeve t shirt and capris if it's 40-55, this morning it was 37 degrees when I went out so I wore capris, long sleeve t shirt, a light jacket and light gloves. When it's really cold I go with long tights, wool blend shirts, light running jacket https://www.amazon.com/Craft-Sportswear-Training-Windproof-Waterproof/dp/B0793LYSL4/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=craft+women%27s+running+jacket&qid=1569008152&s=gateway&sr=8-7 smart wool socks, a beanie type hat and these awseome gloves I got at Target that you can flip back the top of the mitten.

Edit to add... a good windbreaker/rain coat is nice to have too

I love winter running now that I know how to prepare for it. Here are some things that have worked for me, in order of importance:

Arcteryx Argus jacket. Yep, it's expensive. And yep, it's worth every damn penny. I have worn a base layer, the Argus, and a thin, reflective outer shell from REI down into the single digits (F) and I never get cold. Ever. This jacket blocks all wind, yet breathes and has amazing pocket placement. This is without question one of the best things I've ever bought, period.

Some kind of windproof balaklava/neck gaiter. I got this one. This it vital to me for keeping the cold out where it seems to "leak in" on me the most; around the neck and head.

Balega socks. I wear these on ever run, from 95 (F) to single digits (F). My feet never get swampy in the heat or cold in the deep freeze.

Saucony Boston Pants. With normal underwear to about 30 (F) and with a long base layer for anything colder. Not tight enough to be tights, nor loose enough to be joggers. These really hit the sweet-spot of comfort, looks, and function.

I got these Under Armour ones and they're cozy & not too restrictive. I LOVE them. (I got a large. I'm normally an XL in pants but according to the size chart, it said I should go for the L so the compression would work. They do not feel too tight or anything). They're a little pricey, but there was a Cyber Monday deal at Dick's sporting goods, so that helped: http://www.amazon.com/Under-Armour-Womens-Authentic-ColdGear%C2%AE/dp/B00E84QBRK

Later I got some crazy ones for my birthday -They ARE super constrictive but I like them too..though I did manage to almost hurt myself putting them on LOL. Once they're on, they do not fall down though! These were even pricier -I probably would have never purchased them for myself, but I'm glad I have a pair.
http://www.amazon.com/CW-X-Womens-Stabilyx-Running-Tights/dp/B0026FC8YS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394206252&sr=8-1&keywords=cx+compression+tights

I wear them under sweatpants when it's cold and thin track style pants or shorts when it is warm out. I know some people just run around in their tights but I'm not comfortable doing that yet :) Also, maybe TMI but a helpful hint - I think most people (including myself) don't wear anything under the tights as that would be just an unnecessary extra layer that would be uncomfortable lol

I bought these and am already ordering another pair. Super cheap, super soft fabric. To be fair, I haven’t worked out or washed them yet, but for lounging and the price, they’re pretty great. I've had good luck with these: Oiselle Women's Long Roga https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005P9EGTC/

Although be sure to get a bigger size than you normally would if you have thighs. I'm normally between a M and L but the XL are heaven and the drawstring is pretty good.

u/D1rtrunn3r · 3 pointsr/AdvancedRunning

I have 3 pairs of these champion women's shorts - They never fail me in FL summer sweat or pouring rain. They shed well and are nice and light. Inner undie in case that is a pro/con for the ladies.

I also love my free lululemon speed shorts. :-D And my oiselle mini strides.

u/epaulet-mike · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

These aren't no show, but they're the best low profile socks that I've ever had

I wear them in my sneakers and I bought something like 24 pairs in grey so that I don't have to worry about matching them out of the wash. They're slightly visible at the top, but the comfort and longevity balances that out for me. I never found a true no-show that didn't slip off.

I believe that this particular model is made in North Carolina as well. I recall it saying "Made in USA" on the packaging.

u/KatzeAusElysium · 3 pointsr/Catholicism

You should think about what uniform you want in an ideal world, and then go with that to your coach. Maybe think about what women in other sports wear that would be easily translated into playing volleyball AND that would also be acceptable to your sense of modesty.

Some examples...

This somewhat longer skort sold by Kohl's. Or this one, also from Kohl's, that might allow more leg movement.

Tennis players wear skorts, and that's a similarly active sport to volleyball. Maybe a tennis skort/skirt.

Would knee-length legging shorts (basically a longer version of what your uniform is now) be ok?

Maybe baggier, longer running/track shorts?

u/drgrlfrnd · 2 pointsr/XXRunning

Sweaty hands is annoying. I use the gloves linked below. They're not the warmest, so my hands are often still cold when I first start running, but once I'm warmed up, they are quite comfortable. I haven't found that my hands get too hot in them.
