Black Diamond Sand, I believe it's a little cheaper at tractor supply stores but 10 bucks for 50 pounds is nice.
Plants it really depends on the light usually. I had a planted 10 gallon with just the stock light and was able to keep Java ferns and anubias pretty happy. Other low light beginner plants are amazon swords and mosses. I didn't use any fertalizers with my 10 gallon, but with gravel and sand if you want the plants to do really well you'd need root tabs or liquid ferts(depends on the type of plant), and maybe liquid CO2, but I wouldn't worry about that unless you upgrade your light, since if you feed your plants but they don't grow because of to little light then you'd just be feeding algae.
However there are lots of types of Java plants, so if you want to easy low maintenance you can have an nice looking tank. This was my 10 gallon.
As long as you're going to repair that washer, renovate the bike as well. Full-strength CLR or Lime-Away will remove much of that surface rust. Use aluminum foil or #0000 steel wool to lightly rub the more rusted parts. Don't forget the spokes!
Remove all the old grease, as it's full of debris right now and is more of an abrasive paste than a lubricant. There are several ball bearing sets that would need to soak in kerosene first. Clean and lube the chain as well; soak the chain in kerosene, then dip it into a can of melted paraffin. You can use white lithium grease on parts that won't be seen, and regular grease on the more visible parts. The "PTFE" in that grease is Teflon, one of the best lubricants available.
The small parts may be a hassle to clean by hand, so ask around for anyone who hand-loads ammo. Ask to use their vibrating case cleaner, or find someone who has a small media-blasting cabinet. Use glass beads; bring your own supply.
Would also be worth the $15-20 to have a bike shop correctly tension the spokes (and fine-tune the rest of the bike). I'd wager it's never been done, and having a wheel collapse at speed is not a good thing.
After the bomb went off in my area, I was trapped under rubble. This sandblaster allowed me to safely get out of the rubble....in about 48 hours!

I'm not positive but it looks like industrial blasting sand. Maybe with mixed colors?
It’s a badger from amazon. I have used badger airbrush guns in the past and have been happy with their products.
There is a sand etch kit that is basically a one time use for about $40 so for a little more I thought I’d try this badger one out since you can hook it up to an air compressor. I have a small 2 gallon pancake compressor for airbrushing that should be able to give me enough cfm and psi to use it.
I’ll let ya know how it works as soon as I get mine

I spent about a million hours trying to strip the paint off a frame by hand with poor results. I then spent 20 minutes with a cheap sandblaster and it did a fantastic job. Maybe you have a better system than I did, but hand stripping was misery for me.
If you can beg borrow or steal an air compressor, the actual "blaster" nozzles cost as little as $15 bucks. Add another few bucks for a bag of playground sand and you'll save yourself a ton of time and frustration. You do need an outdoor space that you don't mind blanketing in sand, and a place to get ride of that sand afterwards, but if that's not an issue, start making friends with people with air compressors!
Here's the kind of nozzle I'm talking about
Is this it?
You can find mini sandblasters too for about $45
I have a similar model to this and was wondering the same thing. Could you sand/media blast the paint off or would that potentially damage the insert? I'm thinking of using something like this.
