When I got engaged a friend gifted me this "Bride To Be" book: https://www.amazon.com/Bride-Be-Book-Memories-Proposal/dp/0307887987/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485973215&sr=8-1&keywords=Bride+to+be+book

I thought it was lovely and sweet, so I gifted one to my friend who got engaged recently!

It's a book with fill in prompts meant to be filled out throughout wedding planning so you can remember everything when looking back! Kind of like a scrap book, but with more writing!

I also like to gift ring holders like this one because you can never have too many ring holders: https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Co-Op-Ceramic-Rabbit-Holder/dp/B00IMJB8JI/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1485973338&sr=8-14&keywords=ring+holder

Early on in the process, my older (married) sister told me to keep a journal of everything I (bride-to-be) was feeling so I could look back on it later. I found this book on Amazon, and it’s been amazing so far:

The Bride-to-Be Book: A Journal of Memories From the Proposal to "I Do" https://www.amazon.com/dp/0307887987/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_0.4UCbCW7Q4M1

There is space for photos, a few places for random thoughts, and a lot of directed prompts (things like “Details of Your First Date” that I might forget in 50 years).

On a kind of similar note, my fiancé was given this book by a married friend of his:

The Groom's Guide: For Men on the Verge of Marriage https://www.amazon.com/dp/0998739995/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_Fe5UCbN20XSS8

We’ve chosen to spend a couple of evenings with him reading the book out loud and sharing the tips, ideas, and things to ponder, and it’s been great bonding time!

I'm partway through Journalution. So far it's not bad. Some of the exercises are a bit dull and cliche, but worth reading nonetheless, I think.

I really like Making Memory Books and Journals By Hand. The illustrations and instructions are great for beginners.

My sister got me this really cute journal for brides to be - it’s a sort of scrapbook of the whole engagement / wedding planning process.

Amazon link to the journal

A friend also did a basket for us with mini bottles of alcohol tagged for milestones in planning: little wine bottles for getting engaged, booking a venue, and booking our honeymoon, mini Prosecco for saying yes to the dress, and nips of gin for a “rough day”

Spend as much time as you can while he is able to move about on his own. My dad died just this last year around thanksgiving of a very aggressive cancer so I feel for you. Prepare yourself. It is going to be a very stressful time full of fond memories and great sorrow. I was less fortunate than you. We assumed it would be at least 4 months but I only got to spend a little over a week. One thing that that was very beneficial was getting a book similar to Memories for my grandchild.

He didn't do much with it and I don't fault him for it. For a few nights near the end we reminisced and talked about his life and he told us his stories. We wrote in the book for him. Now we have a quite a a special volume of stories written down to share with his grandchildren and beyond.

This is on my Under $20 list.

Thanks for the contest - have a wonderful Friday!

I highly recommend the National Geographic "Welcome to the World" baby book. It's beautiful <3

We got this one as a gift and really liked it. It's got lots of places to fill things in, but isn't too frilly.

This is over $10 but would this be something you're looking for?
