I use the "classic" for my house plants and with a big enough reservoir you can easily have 6 days of watering. They're cheap and easy to set up as well!!!

Depends on the plant, but Sun. Too much water is often a cause of plant death.
You could look into Water globe things? I use them for my strawberries in hanging baskets and they seem to work better than me watering them... even when I'm home. They last anywhere from 3-8 days for me, but even if only 3 days that should be enough until you get back from your week away.
