Nope, because most cute boxes absolutely are not tight enough to put in a bag and not worry about them. Descriptions will say the inner lids are tight but from personal experience, they're not tight enough to be totally leak proof. Anything that says the 2 layers are secured together with an external elastic band is not leak proof.

If you plan to microwave your lunch, I absolutely recommend boxes of various sizes from Glasslock. The lids have 4 snaps, and I haven't had one leak soup on me. The downside is that they are pretty heavy.

If you aren't fully committed to the bento box meal life of fanatically packing things in tight neat compartments and you're also looking for plastic food storage, I highly recommend Snap Lock, especially any multipack. They're usually lots of pieces for around $20, and they're tight enough to transport yogurt. I didn't dare try soup. The multiple little boxes make it easier to pack multiple little things, and I just drop them in a lunch bag to keep them in one place.

If you like to pack salads, this one from OXO is really good:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B014FYZU9C/

But because you asked, I started looking around and oh my god, Bento&co (https://en.bentoandco.com/) has a bunch of really nice ones. You can browse there to see what style box you prefer. It's a great selection.

This Foodman style looks really promising. Looks like the seal for the compartments go all the way up to the lid.

wow, I want to buy so many bento boxes now. They're so twee, I love it.

For the sweet tooth (like my dad, these are all things he likes):

  • A candy jar or bowl filled with her favorite candy.

  • An artisan ice cream scoop.

  • An ice cream maker. You could get an ice cream recipe book as well.

  • One of my dad's favorite gifts was a sugar dispenser... I think that shows his level of sugar commitment.

  • Some artisan marshmallows.

  • A milk frother that doubles as a hot chocolate maker.

For the executive (like my mom, these are all things she likes):

  • A high quality thermos for coffee on the way to work.

  • A smart home setup, maybe an echo and some smart outlets or the google home. Really good for turning lights on/off, asking for the weather and news, listening to music, etc.

  • A FitBit to help her keep healthy even working long hours.

  • A popcorn maker that allows you to make non-microwaved popcorn in the microwave.

  • A white noise machine. If she has any trouble sleeping this thing is AMAZING.

  • A Roku or Chromecast that makes it easier to watch Netflix on the TV.

  • Wine tasting or cooking class that you can do together. Really my mom loves doing stuff with her family.

I'm happy to provide the links, please see below. I have been casually browsing for the perfect spice jar for a along time and I'm very satisfied with these. They are glass instead of plastic, have shaker tops which are easily removable, have a wide mouth to fit a measuring spoon into, have an airtight gasket, and most importantly they are the perfect size for the space.

Since I had to buy a total of 49 4oz square glass spice jars complete with labels and shaker tops, I bought 3 orders of 12qty and 1 order of 14 qty which are 99.9% identical.

The links are below.

Okay we definitely have a few similarities. I would say the best things in your Wishlist would be cards against humanity, the led water color changer and the caramel apple pops. I loved those suckers as a kid. I also stared at the gummi bears but I prefer chocolate covered ones. Have you tried them?

Yay for extra unexpected money!! Thanks for the contest :)

As far as something on my list for $10 or under goes, this bowl is definitely something high on my wants. Mostly because I buy myself only necessities and my boyfriend and I are getting our first apartment soon so I want some decoration. It's just so much different that what I usually buy myself so it would be nice :) always buying yourself necessities gets monotonous.

u/HowQuestionMark · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

When I first saw my current home I felt the same about a lot of aspects of it. After a few tweaks the home really grew on me and I really love it.

Cabinets

  • Consider using wallpaper to change the panel face. Something like this wallpaper would bring that wood look you mentioned.

    Wall decor

  • Tie in the wallpaper above with some decor like this wall set if you have photos you’d like to hang.

  • Maybe these shelves for decor or practical use.

  • Like flowers? Put some (maybe red?) artificial flowers in these wall planters and hang them up for color coordination.

    Cabinet knobs

  • Something as simple as replacing your knobs can change the look of your kitchen. It’s that final finish that does it for me. Look into something like these knobs to add a more rustic flair.

  • We’ve seen these before but rarely remember of them when thinking of knobs. Change your knobs by adding a backsplash like this one.

    Switch plate covers

  • Replacing these with a a more decorative switch plate cover is such a simple change that makes a difference. You can typically find matching plug plate covers.

    Faucet

  • An ill fitting or beat up faucet can effect the overall look of your kitchen. Find a faucet that you feel will match the look you’re going for.

I hope I captured the general feel of the design you like. I hope these will help you create your perfect kitchen.

Man, this contest made me realize how share-able my wishlist items are!

As for one specific item... I have two candy dishes at work, one for normal candy and another for sugar-free candy (for the diet-conscious and diabetic). Everyone gives me compliments on the glass fishbowl, but no one seems to share the same affection for the (boring?) basket. I think this unique glass ziplock bag candy dish would catch more eyes and make the clear candies more attractive! These sugar-free Jolly Ranchers and Crystal Light candies are really yummy! Plus, it would go nicely with the other glass bowl.

STOCK MY HOUSE

I really need a washer and dryer for my house. I don't expect you to buy it but if picked I would love a gift card to add to the washer and dryer fund. If not than I would really love a fruit holder to encourage my family to eat more fruit.

u/roxu · 3 pointsr/ramen

I'm developing my own ramen pop-up too so I'm in the same boat as you. I'm not a chef but I grew up working in my family's catering business where we sold food at festivals. I have a general idea about how to operate the business but I'm not experienced with starting my own thing. Thankfully, my parents are helping me with suppliers and with use of their commercial equipment. I've spent a lot of time planning and researching others' experience with running a ramen shop/pop-up, and here are some key points I've found:

  • Food prep is everything. Of course this is true in general for all restaurants but literally everything in a bowl of ramen can be made ahead of time.
  • I spent hours combing the internet and also running to restaurant supply stores to find the right disposable bowl. Eventually I found this 35oz. bowl on Amazon and it has been perfect. This might not apply to you if you plan on using permanent bowls
  • I also spent an equal amount of time finding the right noodle strainer. Professional noodle boilers are huge water boilers with a frame that holds the strainer. But these things are incredibly expensive and since I'm on a tight budget, I wanted a strainer that stands on its own in boiling water. I've been very pleased with this one
  • Have one person at a station for staging bowls (tare, aroma oil, broth, and noodles) and then another station for plating (noodle fold, add toppings). I haven't tried this myself but this feels like it makes the most sense
  • If you haven't yet, get a refractometer. My ramen has gotten much better and consistent since then. I aim for a 9 brix for tonkotsu, a 4 brix for chintan

Those are the main things I've learned since I started this venture. Let me know what you think or if anyone else has any feedback

u/iamcarleighp · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I'd love this or this. OOh or this! :)

Thanks for the contest! Have fun visiting family :)

Supple Nips
https://www.amazon.com/Supple-Nips-physical-sensual-enhancement/dp/B01DMRZOEO/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1493433138&sr=1-1&keywords=Supple%2Bnips&th=1
worked for me with results beginning in 30 days and even better by day 45.
Water blisters are common at first. Nipples build up tissue not unlike a callous the same as happens during nursing. You wear tolerance may at first be 15 to 20 minutes, stop when things get purple. Do not over-extend when pain and discoloration develop - tissue necrosis is the last thing you want. Over time suction can be prolonged. I can now go 8 hours without discomfort after 60 days.

In addition I use silicone bands. At first these on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00O6K0N3Y/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Later I discovered clear silicone bands which work better for a longer wear tolerance.
8mm and 10 mm I would recommend over the above silicone bands product.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0141PO15E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You have enough time to make a change.

Not really a cake, but I make a mudpie/trifle that people go nuts for:

Trifle dish
Candy (M&M's, Heath Bits, Reese's Chips, etc.)
Cool whip
Chocolate pudding
Devils food cake (make two 9" rounds, may have to trim to fit the dish)

Layer (from bottom up): Cake, pudding, Cool whip, Candy; Cake, pudding, Cool whip, Candy.

If you're making it ahead of time, save the top layer of candy until right before you serve it; M&M colors tend to run in the Cool whip!

u/MeepleReport · 7 pointsr/boardgames

Hardly fancy. Those still looks pretty tacky on the table, in my opinion. If you want something that is a bit more aesthetically pleasing, you'd be better off going with something like Bamboo Condiment Cups.

u/abbio_kitchen · 4 pointsr/Cooking

Buy a set (or a couple sets) of spice jars on Amazon. Label, and place in alphabetical order in your pantry, drawer, etc. It's a bit of pain transferring everything into new containers, but it makes grabbing what you need super easy. It will also help remember what you need refills on as you'll always have an eye on spices that are getting low!

A little pricey, but my sister always has a box of These at the house. They're pretty damn nomalicious, and dairy and gluten free.

This, or this would be nice.

u/Thirty_Helens_Agree · 1 pointr/grilling

I have a little Lodge cast iron gratin dish and I use that for veggies pretty much any time I fire up my kettle. It’s great for Brussels sprouts, peppers and onions, asparagus, cauliflower florets, green beans, peapods, etc.

Link

EDIT: the snap on work table is great too, assuming you don’t have a table near the grill.

Another: Since you have the chimney, you can grab a Smokey Joe grate for doing the afterburner method.

u/rib_eye_b · 1 pointr/castiron

Olives, pineapple and honey roasted turkey? Not a Hawaiian at all but does sound delicious. I'll give it a shot for sure. It's a Lodge huh? My Lodge pizza pan has very different handles but now that you say it, these Lodge pans are what I was thinking about.

I have one. Currently has peanut butter M&Ms in it. Amazon, Fred & Friends is the brand. I bought it 2.5 years ago and it's held up great. here is the link

u/SugarCookie307 · 1 pointr/Makeup

I have a few different organizers that all fit on top on my bookcase.
I have something like this that holds my primer, foundation, mascaras, and some lipsticks. And another 3x3 lipstick organizer to hold the rest.

I also have a stack of 5 plastic drawers from my local dollar store that hold all my pencils, single eyeshadows and smaller palettes. And I have two "candy dishes" (that were leftover from my candy bar at my wedding) similar to this with one holding concealer, highlighters and whatever doesn't fit elsewhere and the other I throw in things for the week I want to make an effort to use.

Pretty much everything I use to organize I was able to get at the dollar store.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I was struggling with spices and got these and thisand OMG I'm obsessed with them. I am short and I have deep cabinets which I can't reach far into, and my spices kept getting lost. I tried something similar to what u/kittehclaws suggested but I didn't like them, it was always a hassle.
It also helps that I started buying my spices at a local bulk store, so I put them all in identical containers with labels. It's cheaper like that, but they also are easier to store and look so much prettier!

It’s called Unzipped. You can try amazon (24.59USD, prime eligible) or Uncommon Goods (16.50USD, $4.95 economy shipping)

From amazon

u/pipnwig · 19 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

It was originally made by Fred & Friends, though. If that type of quirky household item is appealing to you, they should be your go-to.

u/ariwake · 5 pointsr/battlestations

Alternatively you could get a banana stand and use that instead.

u/allyouneedarecats · 7 pointsr/ZeroWaste

I know it's not "zero waste," but I got the jars on Amazon. I searched all my local stores and did as much scouring of thrift stores/antique stores as I could for about a month, but I found absolutely nothing. It's a set of 24, comes with labels and a silicone funnel for transferring (and I'll be able to use the funnel for multiple things in the future!). The one bad thing is the funnel is wrapped in plastic, but it's in a zipper bag so I can re-use that for board game parts or something similar.
