Sure!!! I LOVE all things beauty and hair!

Sulfate Free Shampoos & Conditioners:

u/perplexedbanana · 6 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I definitely recommend Giovanni as a starter. Best place to buy it is online at TJMaxx because it's $12.99 for a liter instead of $6-8 for 8 oz at Walmart. It's filled with natural ingredients, cone-free, super moisturizing, and it has slip like a silicone for detangling in the shower. I especially like the tea tree oil conditioner for the slip. Their shampoo is ok. There is a strong tingle to bought the conditioner and shampoo, but I like it. I've tried other brands like Cantu, SheaMoisture, but i've always came back to Giovanni.

I highly recommend this shampoo--I got it at a discounted price and was shocked at how great it was: https://www.amazon.com/Majestic-Pure-Enriched-Restoration-Ingredients/dp/B012UQJNMC/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1497714057&sr=1-4&keywords=natural+shampoo

If you'd like to try cowashing, vO5 conditioner suds up great.

u/MyNameIsAdam · 1 pointr/beards

Never seen anyone mention it here, but I recently started using Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo and Silk 18 Conditioner. Not cheap, but they really are incredible products, I went from some suave shampoo and conditioner and the difference is amazing. Both products use argan oil, jajoba oil, and other natural oils and ingredients that result in my beard being softer than it's ever been.

Bonus, both products are excellent in hair as well, so you get to benefit too.

u/lizerpetty · 2 pointsr/HaircareScience

Ok try to remain calm. Stress can actually cause your hair to fall out.

Have you started oral contraceptives? Or a hormonal iud, or any hormones in general. That can make your hair thinner. But it won’t make it all fall out.

Collagen can help you grow more hair. I put powder collagen in my coffee every morning.
https://www.amazon.com/NeoCell-Super-Collagen-Powder-Ounces/dp/B0011DJ71I

Also saw palmetto can help reduce your hair shedding.
https://www.amazon.com/Palmetto-Supplement-Prostate-Natural-Griffith/dp/B01GDPQFSG
There is also saw palmetto shampoo:
https://www.amazon.com/Lipogaine-Stimulating-Natural-Thinning-Breakage/dp/B073W5QHQQ

Be careful of supplements with Biotin. Biotin breaks me out something fierce. All over my body. If it doesn’t do that to you then that’s awesome.

Fo-ti can also help hair:
https://www.amazon.com/Fo-Ti-Root-Natures-Way-Caps/dp/B00558AGDI

It could also be an inflammatory issue. I strongly suggest you go to the Dr if you can. If it is inflammatory, you may want to think about cutting sugar and over processed foods.

I’m very sorry this is happening to you. I hope you can find a solution to feel better. Good Luck!🍀

Yeah!

For shampoos/conditioners, I go for some form of Nature's Gate. They have a bunch of different types but I just buy whatever's in the biggest container/smells the best for both the shampoo and conditioner. I really chose that brand because it's sulfate free and I like the way they smell, and it's sold pretty cheap at my local grocery store (it's one of those hippie-dippie grocery stores so they don't carry a lot of conventional brands.) I'm sure there are other brands that will have similar effects.

The dry shampoo I'm a bit pickier about, and have been using Aveda's Shampure for a while.

u/Connguy · 3 pointsr/malehairadvice
  1. Get a sulfate-free shampoo, like this one. Only use it every other day.

  2. Get a good conditioner (not something by Suave). I use this one, but you might be better off trying smaller sizes from a beauty store until you find the best brand for you. Use it every day.

  3. Get some pure argan oil. Every time you shampoo your hair, put 2 drops on your hands and run it through your hair when it's damp.

  4. Softer towels/less aggressive drying will help as well

u/mopers · 1 pointr/HaircareScience

I appreciate the suggestion, but I think I had looked at pretty much all of their products available in stores near me and I think they had coco betaine. Some examples from Amazon:

  • OGX Shampoo, Hydrating Macadamia Oil, 13oz

  • OGX Shampoo, Thick & Full Biotin & Collagen, 13oz

  • OGX Shampoo, Hydrating TeaTree Mint, 13oz

I reacted a few months ago to coco betaine in Ecos laundry detergent and TreSemme Naturals, and then again in Selsun Blue Naturals. I seem to be able to use coco betaine in some hand soaps (Wegmans seems ok!), but I'm going to an allergist soon to get tested. In the meantime, I've been keeping a super close eye out for coconut-derived ingredients in products I try, which is how I've figured out there are a few I do okay with.

I didn't mention this other stuff in my initial post because they don't cause allergic reactions:

Clogs my pores or breaks me out - Fatty alcohols, mineral oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, and then something in several shampoos I've tried over the last few months

Here are few I found:

Traditional Shampoo (These will remove oils from your hair, but also dry it out. Use a lot of conditioner if you're going to use these, or a deep conditioner like this.)

Eden Bodyworks Peppermint Tea Tree Shampoo - This is clarifying so use it rarely when you need a "Reset" with your hair.

Kinky Curly Come Clean - This also has a sulfate, so it will remove oil from your hair, good and bad.

Non-sulfate Shampoo (Great if you don't need to get every last bit of oil out of your hair)

Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo - Probably one of the more gentle ones.

Shea Moisture Baobob Low Porosity Shampoo - Great if you have low porosity hair.

Co-Wash (You can use these daily if you wish as they don't strip the hair of many oils. These are also conditioners)

As I Am Coconut CoWash - Thick and great for high porosity hair, but on low porosity, it can build up.

DevaCurl Original No-Poo Cleanser - Pricey, though I do think they ship to Canada.

u/glossolalienne · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

Amazon is your best bet. Look for blue toner rinses or shampoos or conditioners. Here is one I found by searching that isn’t insanely expensive:

https://www.amazon.com/Joico-Color-Balance-Blue-Shampoo/dp/B00UTU1NLQ

For the blackness, that may ease a bit with a few shampoos.

Good luck, and bye I think it looks awesome anyway :)

u/queendweeb · 4 pointsr/curlyhair

That tresemme leaves my hair super frizzy, oddly, and mine is only wavy. My hair is like a giant triangle when I use it, haha. maybe it's because my hair is so weightless naturally?

If the OGX line of shampoo/conditioners are okay here, the tea tree mint ones have been shockingly good at weighing my hair down without greasing it up. Bonus points: smells like a thin mint, makes scalp less itchy. Ah, found it: shampoo and conditioner

I also like the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Shampoo and Conditioner

u/dahon95 · 2 pointsr/Philippines

Shampoo - Loreal Ever Fresh Anti-Danduff (Sulfate Free). Anything organic and sulfate free is okay. Other than that, tumitindi ang balakubak and flakes.

Deodorant - Crystal Body Rock Deodorant (Unscented, Aluminum/Parabens Free, Natural, Hypoallergenic, and leaves no stain)

Body/Facial Moisturizer - Lubriderm Men's 3-in-1 Lotion Fragrance Free

Lip Moisturizer - Burt's Bee 100% Natural Lip Balm

Toothpaste - Anything, actually. But Colgate is my go-to brand.

Soap - Ivory Fragrance Free or Irish Spring Classic

Hair Oil - Johnson & Johnson's Baby Oil.

Facial Wash - Clean & Clear Morning Burst Oil Free. Cetaphil is nice, too.

Dental Floss - Johnson & Johnson REACH (Mint waxed)

Briefs - Anything Bikini Briefs (multicolored sets). For local brands, I like Bench and Warren. They last a long time bago maging "baconized." :D

Colognes/Perfumes - too many to mention (I have more than 30 bottles that I rotate, excluding samples and decants)

Lol all the CG products I bought have protein that react good on my brother hair lot of curls, but mine stiff I don’t like to touch right now... what a luck you have 😭 , I chose shea moisture cause it’s difficult to find good products with a GC approved formula, giovanni leave in doesn’t contain any protein from what I heard, but makes my hair dry and frizzy, like I didn’t put anything on my hair, when it’s wet it looks good, I did read some reviews here that worked most for people with afro hair

u/murderkroger_rip · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I wonder if your skin might need a thicker/stronger moisturizer too..personally I like cerave in the tub but really there are a billion that would help. If they don't sell the head and shoulders seb derm where you are then look for some selenium sulfide in any shampoo as the active ingredient (there are other really good ingredients that treat seb derm, just selenium sulfide is my fav). https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Seborrheic-Dermatitis/dp/B0043OSIVM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1495502048&sr=8-1&keywords=selenium+sulfide+shampoo

Everyone else has great ideas for solo coping, but if you have a friend who can help you out, I have a few extra tips!

First, I've always found that a good thorough brushing with a boar bristle brush does wonders for me if I can't shower for some reason. It helps exfoliate dead skin and drag the grease away from the surface, so it makes my hair look super terrible... but helps my scalp feel much less gross, which is usually what bugs me.

There's also this no-rinse shampoo. I've never used it, so I can't say how well it works or whether it's bad for your curls, but I know it's available for patients where I work/study. I hate dry shampoo (can you tell yet that I have texture issues?) so if I were in your shoes, I'd probably try this first.

Good luck with your surgery! I hope your recovery is quick and as pain-free as possible :)

u/mysteriousseal · 2 pointsr/SebDerm

Two other good options are just a basic Zinc Pyrithione shampoo (make sure it’s sulfate free) or sulfur soap. I found the Ketoconazole was just too much for my skin, and washing daily with a much milder soap helped a ton!

It’ll take time to heal - mine took almost two months! I also made sure to keep my shower water filtered in case I was getting buildup on my scalp.

Noble Formula 2% Pyrithione Zinc (ZnP) Original Emu Bar Soap, 3.25 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G7TUDA0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_LmVwDb22285HH

Rene Furterer makes the absolute best dry shampoo ever! Wellll worth it; I stocked up big time when I was in Paris. I haven't seen it in the UK or the US shops like Boots/Superdrug/Walgreens/CVS/etc, except for in actual salons (though admittedly I wasn't looking too hard as each one lasts me quite a while), so depending on where you are located you might try Amazon or other sites to order online.

Link to the product on Amazon

Edit: I've also tried Tresemme and Batiste in addition to Rene Furterer's one. Batiste is pretty good, I used it for a while before I found RF's dry shampoo. I have a thing of Tresemme but to be honest it's really difficult to use and makes my dark brown hair look like it's got terrible dandruff even after I spend 5 minutes trying to work it in! Batiste makes my hair a bit ashy, but not too bad. I think they have one specifically for dark hair too, which I'd like to try. But in terms of ease of application/results, I stand by RF; it takes just a couple sprays and the scent is nearly unnoticeable.

u/VooDooBelle · 2 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have fine, straight as a board hair that is super oily and I wouldn't make it without dry shampoo.

I started using this dry shampoo and it made a huge difference for me. It's actually part of a "system" that they now carry, but I think that I've used the hair mask maybe twice. Even with this conditioner, I'm still careful to only condition my ends. If I put it on my scalp my hair would be so greasy that it would look wet.

I also sometimes use Batiste in brunette

If you're in the US Walgreen's is having a buy 2 get 1 free sale on hair care. You can mix and match the brands.

u/AffablyAmiableAnimal · 2 pointsr/malehairadvice

How long is your hair? And you put like body lotion in your hair? That wouldn't work or help. What you should do, use conditioner. I suggest the brand OGX, it's cheap and work well. If you have dandruff too, I'd recommend the Hydrating TeaTree Mint Shampoo, for just dry hair try the Nourishing Coconut Milk.

You definitely should be using conditioner. The OGX TeaTree Mint Conditioner should help with dry scalp, while the OGX Nourishing Coconut Milk is great for just hydrating hair. If it's just your scalp that's dry, I'd go for the TeaTree line.

At Target it's a lot cheaper than online, they have the shampoo and conditioner for $6 each.

u/littlemissbabybear · 3 pointsr/ZeroWaste

I've been using J.R. Liggett's Jojoba & Peppermint Shampoo Bar, and so far I really really like it! It's cheap (about half the price of the Lush ones!) and leaves my hair feeling super clean, fluffy, and soft even without conditioner. Lush does make a few conditioner bars too, if you have dry hair, but I find I'm good without. :)
I did get it on Amazon though, so there was some packaging. It came wrapped in paper, in a cardboard box, with one of those plastic shipping air pocket things. So, not ideal, but it's still less plastic than a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, it'll last a really long time, and I try to bundle my orders together to save packaging. So I feel like it's still less waste overall, even if it's not 100% zero waste. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

u/sol_y_luna · 2 pointsr/curlyhair

I have a shampoo brush that I use when I co-wash and I LOVE it. I distribute the co-wash over my scalp with my fingertips first and then I use this all over my scalp for a few minutes. I haven't experienced product buildup on my scalp so I can't speak to that specifically, but I co-wash once a week and I have a fair amount of dandruff that builds up between. I feel like the shampoo brush really helps break up all of the dandruff--my scalp is flake-free after I use it. I haven't experienced any damage.

u/kaymick · 7 pointsr/scacjdiscussion

For anyone with color treated hair: L’Oréal makes a sulfate free, color safe dandruff shampoo that is only $7.00 and works great even on the brights.

It is literally the only thing that saved my dry, flakey scalp without ruining my color over the winter.

u/spineless-speech · 1 pointr/Accutane

I'm such a dry shampoo girl, but once I started my course I started getting itchy and flaky. I use this shampoo right now, it's not marketed as a dandruff shampoo but it pretty much took care of my issues in one wash! I was looking for a different one at the store but they didn't have it, but I'm pleasantly surprised with this tbh. I use it once every three to four days with dry shampoo in between.

u/0neir0naut · 2 pointsr/FierceFlow

Your left-photo hair is how my hair looks like on a daily basis; curly/wavy hair roughly the same length, and just as dry!

I'd love for my hair to look like the photo on the right! I didn't even know it was possible to get it to look like that.
So from what you posted, I should co-wash my hair twice a month and let it dry before going to sleep (I read that cold drying it helps in a pinch if you need to get your hair dry fast, what do you think about that?) How often do you wet/wash your hair with water when you're taking a shower?

I just ordered some 100% natural argan oil from Amazon; I'm hoping to get the results you get from using it. I currently use almond oil on my hair and it feels heavy and greasy whenever I use it, on top of not getting my hair to style correctly.

For argan oil use, you say to use a small bit at first, but then you say you use more argan oil than you do coconut oil, so it confuses me. I'm assuming I'm supposed to use little amounts of the argan oil and increase until I get the perfect amount of moisture in my hair?

I was actually diagnosed with having seborrheic dermatitis and was told it doesn't go away; that feel when dandruff for life :( I've been using a medicated head and shoulders shampoo to fight the dandruff, and it has really worked for me, but at the cost of extremely drying my hair and scalp. (link to shampoo https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Seborrheic-Dermatitis/dp/B0043OSIVM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1478375434&sr=8-1&keywords=head+and+shoulders+medicated)

u/dragonfox · 1 pointr/curlyhair

lol that last comment.

Try to find someone who knows how to cut curly hair, ask them about it before you let them touch your hair, if you can - go to someone trained, it may cost more, but it's worth it. http://www.mydevacurl.com/curly_stylist_finder

Also, I use the devacurl no poo. I bought this size bottle early 2014 and still have 3/4 left, I only use it once a week.

It doesn't sound like you've experienced / read much about curly hair care (and that's okay) based on where you're at in the "journey." So, I recommend going to the useful links, read about it, try it out, it's all about experimenting, and then ask questions. IMO, the most important thing is that you don't give up, and just try different things. I have been doing this for years and I still have days when my hair is frizzy due to lack of conditioner, or too oily because I put too much oil or creme in it.

Once you get into the regimen, it's soooo easy, but starting out can seem overwhelming. Start with the conditioner and a gel and go from there. Leave the conditioner in your hair, if your hair is frizzy - add more, if your hair is too weighed down - add less. Put the gel in your hair after you have the conditioner on, scrunch scrunch scrunch, leave it alone until it's dry, then touch.

u/caramelbrownguy · 1 pointr/malehairadvice

You can try shampoo with argan oil extracts (this one) and also use a conditioner after you have rinsed out the shampoo. Its really important to use a conditioner because a shampoo tends to strip away the natural oils in your hair so a conditioner helps to counter that. Generally, it is said that you should shampoo and condition and shampoo about 3 times a week. But personally, I feel that it really depends on an individual's lifestyle and the city's climate. So you can work around and see what fits you best. As for pomades, they work well for slicked back sideparts, so feel free to experiment :)

J.R. Liggett's Old Fashioned Shampoo Bar 3.5 Ounces (Variety 3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KGGH0UQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oH4dAb2M0PTXD

These shampoo bars are my favorite. However because they have a high pH it's still important to condition. You can use a 10 to 1 water and vinegar solution as a conditioning rinse. It works wonders and brings the pH back down to 4.5 to 5.5 that hair should be at. I used white vinegar for my hair since Apple cider is better for coarse or really dry hair. It was just too heavy for me. The white vinegar was perfect and my hair was always so fluffy and felt so strong.

u/Otev_vetO · 3 pointsr/curlyhair

I use a shampoo bar! I try to reduce waste where I can in my beauty routine and I honestly LOVE these bars.

u/Vulpid · 20 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Its funny you mention that, I originally got mine in an outdoor supply store and it was marketed towards campers!

It was this kind.

It was the only one I’ve ever tried and it worked very well. It’s been so many years I don’t really remember how conditioning etc it was but I remember being really impressed with how clean my hair was.

u/gamesandtheory · 2 pointsr/malehairadvice

This one by Giovanni is great. You can find it at Target, Whole Foods, Walgreens. Natural ingredients and smells nice. Or pick something similar you like the smell of.

While your hair is still damp, work in a small amount, then comb your hair into the basic style/shape you like, and let it air dry. Don't mess with it until it's dry. Then you can loosen it up with your fingers a bit and you should be good to go. From there, if you add a small drop of oil it will get shiny and will stay closer to your head, but that's optional.

This will give it a natural, "I didn't spend hours doing my hair" look. In general, curly wavy hair likes moisture - so if you explore products, go towards creams/oils as opposed to gels, which can be really drying. Pastes/pomades can give you more sculpted looks but I find them to be kind of a mess to deal with everyday. As you probably already know, the ultimate styling tool for this kind of hair is a snug beanie. Sleeping on it and then putting on a beanie for an hour can really do the trick better than any product.

u/lanev2 · 4 pointsr/PCOS

So I’ve been using :

Lipogaine Hair Stimulating All Natural Shampoo for Hair Thinning & Breakage (purple) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073W5QHQQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_l9NRCbC5874E9

Both shampoo & conditioner, it’s kind of annoying that the conditioner is twice the size as the shampoo, BUT I’ve seen hair strengthening && LESS hair loss.

(I also do my best to wash my hair every other day too.)

My sister started using it because she had the same issue with dry shampoo making her hair look grey and dusty. She gets it from drug stores like Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc. Or places like Ulta and Target. I'm not sure where you live, but they have it on Amazon too:

I've been WO for a while and love it. Once or twice a month I rub this shampoo bar on my scalp to clean it up. The company has a bit of variety in their bars. It can also be used on your body, but if you only use it for your scalp it will last you forever. Also, it's awesome for traveling by air since it's not a liquid.

I use this cruelty free vegan shampoo, which I love, though the herbal variety has a pretty strong scent (they have other ones too)

The last thing I tried that I actually liked was this one from Amazon. There are plenty that are sulfate free, just search sulfate free Shampoo.

As a girl with very curly hair, I can tell you argan oil will be your best friend! And try to shampoo as little as possible, like once a week at most. Just use conditioner usually. And curly hair only needs to be showered every other day or it dries out. These are the products I use:

Cleaner and conditioner and mousse

u/heal_thyself · 1 pointr/MGTOW

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016KWUP3I/ I use the Shampoo and conditioner combo. More time in the shower but it helps my itchy scalp and flakes.

Any sulfate free shampoo should help with dandruff though.

I had done a DIY of a scalp scrub last winter, and like your experience with the Ouai, and mine was similar, unless you separate your hair in sections and apply the scrub before the shower it is impossible to get to the scalp. If you have a beauty supply shop near you ( I am in the US) you can get this exact brush for about two bucks and it is a nice supplement if you are looking for scalp exfolitation https://www.amazon.com/Marvy-Shampoo-Brush-Scalp-Invigorator/dp/B0001I8ZT4

Hey man, I've got hair a lot like you. I think you look better without it "tamed". Here is what has been working better for me (note: I'm 34 and still am trying to find my way):

  • First, stop using shampoo. If you must, use something non-lathering (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000NE6QP6). I have found a rinse once or twice a week with no shampoo or conditioner is best.

  • Going with a more natural look is going to require a different product. Go for more of a paste (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001UBKVH0). First day after a rinse use a fair amount of it and really work it through the ends with your fingers. Next day a little less, third day you probably won't need any.

  • Don't overwork your hair. This is the hardest step, but usually the more you touch your kind of hair the worse it is going to look. Yesterday I literally wore my bed head just running my fingers through the sides and back and it looked fine.

  • Most importantly, just own the new look. You are a good looking guy and a drastic style change is going to solicit comments from people you know. And if you are like me you are probably going to immediately take any feedback the wrong way. Get out of your own head and just own it.

Then stop posting on this subreddit because you are not ugly. Join malehairadvise, malefashionadvise, etc.

Head and Shoulders make a super strength verson that is not readily available in the shops. I think because it's also super expensive.

I have tried almost every product in the shops and several different ones prescribed by my doctor. This Head & Shoulders Clinical Strength shampoo is the only thing that actually works.

It's not cheap but it works!

Trash is for Tossers inspired me to use this shampoo bar to cut down on the plastic I throw out.

It works just fine. It lasts a really long time. Natural ingredients, no chemistry lessons in the ingredients list.

I wish conditioner came that way as well, so I could avoid another plastic bottle. The bar really dries my hair out so I need the conditioner with it.

u/vannucker · 1 pointr/comedyheaven

Try Head and Shoulders clinical strength blue bottle. Regular doesn't work for me but Clinical Strength clears it right up. https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Seborrheic-Dermatitis/dp/B0043OSIVM

If nothing else works, this shampoo bar works great (I used it after my hair got disgusting from California's hard water) and it's all natural and good smelling and stuff!

u/calibear09 · 1 pointr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Rene Furterer Naturia. Expensive but it lasts forever and smells divine.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/FancyFollicles

I use this solid shampoo bar and I really like it. It contains no sulphates etc and is made of vegetable oils. I have highlighted dark blonde -> medium warm blonde, fine and thick hair which has grown to past my bra due to washing it less and using no POO. So I'd recommend it highly.

u/IDreamofLoki · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

I think I'm going to get a Turbie Towel or microfiber towel, too. Know what I won't be doing anymore?

This shit. I always brush my hair out thoroughly before washing it to save my drain. SO MUCH hair fell out with this stuff! Also it smells strongly of cheap means cologne. And yeah, it didn't do anything to stop frizz.

u/theinfamousj · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

This would be the time where I make my regular point about a human curry comb and mention that it is very useful for really massaging any sort of shampoo into one's scalp and also ridding one of those flakes that need a good scrubbing to remove.

Ever since I started using one of these whenever I wash my hair, even without shampoo or without special dandruff shampoo, I have seen nary a flake.

u/throwawayninety9 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Yeah, I was sick of my hair getting super oily even just a day after not shampooing. I stumbled /r/nopoo and finally decided to give it a shot. At least the not-shampooing part, I didn't buy into the whole baking soda and apple cider vinegar thing.

I use the bar every 2-4 days or whenever may hair needs it. If I comb it back when its wet after the shower or in the morning (after its all over the place) it'll dry and keep some shape without falling into my face like it used to.

Which shampoos have you tried? Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength works best for me.

u/darthjenni · 5 pointsr/dementia

I camp a lot. I have tried many bathing wipes, and camping shampoos. I like Clean Life Products: No Rinse.

The bathing wipes are designed to be microwaved so she can get a warm wash.

The No Rinse Shampoo is also really good. When I am in the backcountry I rinse it out with warm water, but you don't have to.

These people don't mess around. You can get it by the gallon.

u/valeavy · 1 pointr/curlyhair

I wash with Maple Holistics Argan Conditioner. Haven’t touched shampoo in years. I flip upside down to rinse, and use a small amount more conditioner and squish, putting it in an Aquis turban when I’m done. I take it out of the turban 30 min later while still damp, and run Garnier Curl Shape gel over it, trying not to disrupt the curls too much. I typically let it dry a bit more while down, and then often tie it up in a bun while at work. It looks really great and voluminous in the 30 minutes after taking the bun down, then falls flat again. No matter what, it’s always flat at the crown. WHY???

u/return-null · 1 pointr/curlyhair

Have you looked at Giovanni weightless leave in? I've never tried it but the reviews are good.

The shampoo bar from JR Liggetts is fantastic: J.R. Liggett Bar Shampoo, Virgin Coconut Aragan Oil, 3.5 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00937VAQE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_714Axb41MRA3A

Unfortunately, I just make my own blue or violet conditioner. You could try this one https://www.amazon.com/Joico-Color-Balance-Blue-Shampoo/dp/B00UTU1NLQ
It seems to have good review. I would suggest you research a bit on google and compare reviews to see which fits you. Most of them will help you bring some ashiness, in other words, mute your color slightly to make it less brassy.

u/throwthepearlaway · 1 pointr/MtF

Yeah it's great stuff. You spray it in your hair when it's looking a bit gross if you don't have time to wash it.

u/detsher77 · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I'd highly recommend Wen or HairOne.
These products do wonders for curly or frizzy hair!

u/ResidentBroccoli · 1 pointr/tressless

This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/Head-Shoulders-Clinical-Seborrheic-Dermatitis/dp/B0043OSIVM

I also use their conditioner, any of them will work fine. The shampoo is what's important

u/troioi · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I like the Rene Furterer Naturia dry shampoo. It adds volume to my flat-ass hair and doesn't leave residue.

I've been using these for a while now. I have nothing but good to say about them. The only packaging is paper, they work really well, my wife even uses it to shave her legs. One bar will last me for ~6 months with daily use.

u/Hanesman · 2 pointsr/tressless

Lipogaine is basically just rejuvenating shampoo. However, when scouring for an answer, it seems that the most popular one sold on Amazon does not contain 5% minoxidil.

But other sources like this one show the same brand but with minoxidil. So I'm not entirely sure how this shampoo works.

u/savvetheworld · 6 pointsr/curlyhair

I use Nature's Gate shampoos and conditioners and they are INCREDIBLE.
Amazon has three half-litre (18oz) bottles of each shampoo and conditioner for under $20

u/mandyvigilante · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I do the same thing. I wait about a week in between washes, so it's really funny if I end up missing a spot, that spot of hair will have a totally different texture than the hair that got baking soda on it. Also, I just rub it all in with my fingertips - I don't use a comb, but I have short hair. I have been thinking about getting one of these, though.

u/abarinov · 5 pointsr/onebag

I have 21l GR1. J.R. Liggett for my hair, body and removing stains from my cloths and Eco-Dent Baking Soda Toothpowder for my teeth.
Will post my packing list in 12 hours when I get back from work shift.

I have similar hair to yours, by the sound of it. I tried all of the above, I didn't really like the results. What works for me is using this shampoo bar once a week or so, washing with plain water on days in between.

Not a festival, but camping. I guess 4 or 5 days. Baby wipes and no-rinse shampoo. This stuff:

http://www.amazon.com/Clean-Life-Products-00200-Shampoo/dp/B00008KA7P

Makes your hair feel a little weird, so try it at home first if you decide to go that route.

u/GianLorenzoBe · 1 pointr/bjj

The old school poor high school wrestler's trick was to use some anti-dandruff shampoo with Selenium Sulfide in it as a body wash. Head & Shoulders makes a brand of it that's something $13-14 for a 2-pack on Amazon. I've had ringworm a few times in the past but never since I began using this method. Just begin by washing your hair then lather it up on the rest of your body.

u/vegemouse · 1 pointr/minimalism

I also used to have bad dandruff. Didn't know it could be caused by your hair being too oily rather than too dry. I started showering every day and using this shampoo: https://www.amazon.com/OGX-Hydrating-Moisturizing-Australian-Sulfate-Free/dp/B000TGC8D2 plus a cheap scalp massager from Amazon and they both have reduced the flakiness a lot.

u/applesnbanaynays · 1 pointr/explainlikeimfive

I've not been officially diagnosed with psoriasis but I had really bad dandruff, and an oily and itchy scalp. I tried all kinds of stuff that didn't help. This stuff worked though. Haven't had any problems since.

u/barking-chicken · 2 pointsr/Sjogrens

30F here, diagnosed at the tail end of 27.

  1. I had this happen too, except I let mine get a little worse than I should have. In the end I had really flaky skin that was red and started to weep (I know, sorry, gross). In a last ditch effort to not have to try a prescription shampoo I tried Head and Shoulders Clinical Strength and it was like night and day! If you've got really brittle hair you may need to work with a dermatologist on this, though. This shampoo is REALLY caustic, but when I pair it with a decent leave in conditioner my hair looks better than it ever has.
  2. Try a cocoa butter based lotion. I like CocoaBeautiful at walmart. You're going to have to be seriously diligent about applying lotion. Its just one of the lesser known symptoms of Sjogrens. I apply after every shower (and before bed in the winter/dry season) and I keep lotion in my purse for my hands after every hand wash.
  3. Talk to your doctor about pilocarpine. My rheumatologist prescribed it to me for up to 4 times per day and I started with just once in the morning and eventually added one more at night. Its made a HUGE different for me. I had the mucus issue that you have, but I also developed a dry cough that I couldn't kick and the pilocarpine fixed both. I still keep the biotene spray in my purse for emergency issues, but I rarely need it now unless I have a really bad flare-up.

So, I don't want to be a dick about this, but you really do need to prepare yourself for the reality of your situation regarding doctor's visits. I see my rheumatologist 4 times per year, my optometrist twice per year (to check for retinal damage from the plaquenil), a neurologist once per year to watch for signs that my sjogren's caused neuropathy is worsening, and I get dental cleanings 3-4 times per year because low saliva production can cause increased plaque and gum decay. On top of that, I found that even with treatment it became very difficult for me to keep up with all of the things that I was doing before, especially at work, because of the fatigue. I don't know how I could have functioned without an army of doctors helping me with suggestions for my issues.

At the very least I have to strongly urge you to find a better rheumatologist to help you get to the point where you're maintaining your sjogrens symptoms bearably. You almost certainly need to be on medications (probably starting with plaquenil) and you need to have your vitamin levels checked as that many autoimmune patients don't process dietary vitamins (especially Vitamin D) as well. Sjogrens can cause brain fog and fatigue, but Sjogrens + low Vitamin D was way, way worse for me. If your doctor is not taking your concerns seriously its time to move on, no matter how many times it takes. I know it doesn't feel that simple, especially if you're living in a rural area where there aren't many options, but spending money on a doctor who isn't helping you is not just demoralizing, its pointless.
u/MyKindOfLullaby · 1 pointr/femalehairadvice

Everyone's hair is different obviously, so what works for me may not work for you but I had a similar problem. I wash my hair about twice a week and use dry shampoo in between washes. There are tons of different brands out there and you just have to find one that works for you. I use Lush no drought dry shampoo. I have waves and it actually makes my waves more manageable. I also use Devacurl no poo cleanser and that has helped me tremendously.
