Pack light. Also learn to make a skivvy roll it saves a lot of space and makes packing so much easier. You can stuff your stuff like a toothbrush, razor deodorant etc in them. My usual rule of thumb for skivvies/undershirts & underwear is 7-10 days on the longer voyages. For you, I'd pack 4 to 5. Including the pair that you're wearing that's enough to cover ~50% of the voyage and you'll most likely have the ability to wash clothes onboard. If not wearing a pair for another day probably won't kill you. I also usually bring medicine in labeled plastic bags. Stuff like cold and flu medicine, painkillers and headache medicine (non-narcotic), anti diaherria medicine, seasickness pills, allergy medication, and multivitamins. I write the name of the medicine, its purpose, and the dosage on a plastic bag. When I'm done I toss them in a skivvy roll and roll them up. Bring 2 pairs of "street clothes" make the pants different (ie one jeans, the other khaki or shorts etc) you'll be wearing these around the ship when you're not working or when you're off the ship, I usually also pack some gym shorts to lounge around the ship in or workout. Bring a towel, earplugs, and a sleeping mask. Cigarettes if you smoke.

I'd bring a flashlight (one with a clip that you can put on a hat), knife, multitool, utilikey, one to two pairs of decent workboots, spare batteries, and maybe a magnetic worklight as far as work stuff goes. Coveralls if your ship doesn't provide them. Oh and a small notebook that can fit in your pocket and 2 decent pens. A watch with a barometer is a huge plus. Bandanas/Handkerchiefs are really useful as well.

As for entertainment stuff I always bring my kindle loaded with books. You can checkout /r/FreeEbooks for free books or you can always acquire some #Bookz on the undernet. If you had a switch I'd bring it. I usually bring a laptop that has all my movies and games on it. You can buy a little strip of slip resistant matting that you can place under your laptop. I've only had seas that rough once where I'd ever really need it, but better safe than sorry. A harddrive is good too, at least 1 TB.

On miscellaneous things I bring, I bring a closet shoe organizer on board like the one linked. I use that to organize a lot of my clothes and save space. I used a sharpie to mark out spots for stuff like socks, underwear, etc. But you can always fit a skivvy roll in there. I usually use the upper row for stuff like my EDC, and my medicine storage so the door doesn't hit the top. I also might bring a USB fan, paracord, and a plugin USB hub. I'll use the paracord to suspend the fan next to my face to blow on me. I'll also use it to adjust the pocket organizer.

Some packing tips are to wear your boots to the ship, sneakers are much easier to pack.

Since this is an internship I'll assume you want to be hired on later. Ask tons of questions, work hard, be sociable and likeable, and never be late. I know plenty of hardworking guys everybody hates because they're dickbags. When I first started I was a little lazy and incompetent but everybody liked me because I was sociable and not a dick and at least tried. You can be lazy, or a dick, not both.

Edit: QoL stuff is pretty nice, stuff such as a blanket, hydro flask, or seasoning is pretty nice to have sometimes. During a particularly cold voyage I had a thick heavy fuzzy blanket which was awesome. Having ice cold water when you're in a 160 degree engine room can be pretty nice. Some lawry's seasoning salt when your cook sucks is always welcomed.

Edit 2: SUNGLASSES. PACK A PAIR OF POLARIZED SUNGLASSES. The reflection off the water can be pretty intense sometimes.

Oh man. Brace yourselves, I am a total Amazon junkie. (Note: These may not all be BIFL, but I'm responding to the OP in specific.)

• $9 butter keeper. (I bought a slightly different one that's no longer available, but it's the same basic design.) Keeping butter that isn't for cooking or baking in the fridge is for chumps. Mine is always perfectly spreadable room temperature while staying fresh for weeks... sometimes months.
  
  
• $9 TV antenna. I didn't own a TV until a few years ago, and it didn't have a built-in antenna. I don't watch much broadcast TV, so I grabbed the cheapest one I could find. Case in point for why digital is better than analog, this one picks up every digital channel perfectly.
  
  
• $13 shoe rack (now $18). Over the past year of living in this flat, I'd developed a bad tendency of kicking my shoes off at the bottom of the stairs just inside the front door. This looked like a cheap piece of shit, but I figured for the price I couldn't go wrong. Now almost every single pair of shoes I own is in one spot where it's easy to grab—and, more importantly, everything's out of the way of people coming in and out of the house.
  
  
• $14 jug of earplugs (50 pair). Essential for sleeping with the window open in loud neighborhoods, sharing rooms with snoring friends on a trip, or sharing beds with snoring dudes or gals you're sleeping with. These were also my go-to earplugs for shows until I got a pair that's better for listening to music.
  
  
• $22 electric kettle. The coffeemaker in our office puts out water that isn't nearly hot enough for a proper cuppa, and I got sick of microwaving it to boiling a mug's worth at a time. No bells and whistles, but it's performed perfectly since day one, with no breaking-in period like you get with kettles that have plastic parts in contact with the water.
  
  
• $32 32'/10m HDMI cable. Ran it between the computer in my bedroom and the TV in my living room, allowing me to watch all kinds of streaming TV and downloaded videos with friends in a spot more comfortable than standing in front of my desk.
  
  
• Slightly over the $50 limit, but $53 space heater. My best friend and roommate is one of those dudes who's built like a furnace, and our place uses radiators for heat. We had a few days of him sweating his ass off even with the thermostat set to 68, before I realized that we could just turn it way the hell down, and I could heat my own bedroom separately. This sucker dumps out a ton of heat, with a slew of features to sweeten the deal (my favorite being the remote control).
  
  
• Another that's slightly over, but $55 garment steamer. Collapses small enough to fit pretty much anywhere I've ever needed to store it, puts out steam within maybe 30 seconds of turning it on, and with a full tank has enough water to steam as many items as I've ever needed to do in a row. I haven't touched my iron once since I bought this thing, and my only regret is not buying one as soon as I started college over a decade ago.

• $43 heated footrest. Hands-down, this is one of the best things I've ever bought in my life. I was looking for an unobtrusive, unobnoxious way to help myself stay warm in the office, which tends to be chillier than my taste year-round. When I opened it up, I was skeptical, since it looked like a cheap injection-molded piece of shit. Now, I'm pretty sure I'd rescue it from a fire before my mother. I don't want to imagine ever trying to get through another winter without it.

It's probably going to be really dependent on what needs to be prioritized. At 4...she may be able to do some chores with supervision, but obviously I wouldn't rely on her for major tasks that you expect to be done in a timely manner. (I will link a few things, they're just basic Amazon links so you can see what I'm talking about.)

For my house (family of 5) the first thing is making sure EVERYTHING we need for the next day is ready to go. On Sunday nights each kid pulls 5 outfits out with socks and stacks them in their closet in something like this (one kid has one for sweaters, but another has one with smaller cubbies, not sure where it came from or what it's original purpose was but it works fine). This helps us in a few ways. First - clothes are already decided. No take-backs. No crying. No, "BUT I WANTED TO WEAR THE PINK DRESSSSSUGH!" The pink dress can go in the rotation for the next week. Also, you can see what kind of laundry you will need to do for the next week. One of our kids has 3 weeks of outfits before we need to wash clothes...but we can see in her drawer when just one set of clothing is left that we need to focus on her laundry (she's the youngest, older kids often do their own laundry as needed). Also - any special "spirit" week clothes can be picked out in advance. If you realize that you are missing an item for one day you have a good warning and can get it in place in time.

Backpacks packed, lunchboxes in the fridge, everything signed and ready. It may take time to create a habit for a particular time...we were trying to do it in the run-up to bedtime, but it just got too hectic. I started doing it as soon as we were home from school. This way, in the morning you wake up, take care of hygiene, eat, get dressed, pick up your stuff, and walk out the door. My kids eat breakfast at school now so we can literally be ready in 15 minutes if we absolutely had to.

I have this file-folder system on the wall next to the front door. There is a clear pocket in the front...right now I have the school calendar in that. The older kids each have 1 pocket, the younger kid has 3...though technically one is for me to store important papers we may need to refer back to (permission slips that have dates, times, and instructions on them, for example). But when each kid gets home we go through the backpack, homework is started, I start signing agendas, looking over notes, etc. At the end of the homework, everything goes back into the backpack, then the backpack goes by the door. I use tons of 3M hooks to make it easier to keep stuff together. The youngest kid has one for a backpack and another for her jacket. There is one on the side of her bed for pajamas. The big kids have them in their room for hanging headphones and various electronic cables. I would rather have a million hooks than a kid goes, "But I lost it b/c I left it on my bed and then someone washed my sheeeeets!"

I also put these shoe organizers over every door that can handle it. Low pockets for kids, high pockets for parents. It makes it easier to clean (usually) because if something doesn't belong in the room...I am for sure too lazy to walk one single thing across the house. I will put it in this (if it fits) and then once a week (or so) we can take what belongs to us, put it away, or put it in the room it goes in. This way I don't feel like I'm constantly running back and forth all the time. And it's off the floor, so if you decide NOT to deal with it - the house can still be neat without a hassle.

At night - dishwasher always gets run...yes even if it's not totally full (though with a family of 5, that is rare). Because at least in the morning I can empty it while the kids are getting ready for school and now it's ready for the daytime dishes...or I can even put in some big pots and pans that didn't fit the night before and run those so they're ready in time for dinner.

I have a timer on my washing machine. I put the load in with detergent then set it to run about 60-80 minutes before I get home (it's a fancy machine and usually takes at least 90 minutes to do a full load). This way I may hear it buzz just after getting home and can take the clothes out of the washer. So I can always do at least 1 load a day and laundry doesn't pile up too much. I've done soaking loads overnight as needed. I also keep a dedicated bucket in the laundry room so if I need to pre-soak just a few items or kid t-shirts or something I can put them in the bucket with some water and detergent or pre-treater. Then I put the bucket on top of the freezer...b/c I use my freezer every night (I like ice) and it reminds me that those things need to go in with a load.

I do *minor* meal prep. If I am making lasagna I just double ingredients and make two (it's super easy) then cook one and freeze the other. When I go grocery shopping I always buy a jar of sauce and box of pasta or a frozen pizza...this way if dinner gets ruined (like the time a kid turned the temp up while I was in the bathroom) I can have food on the table in 15 minutes or less and we don't have to try and drive out for fast food. If I'm cooking ground beef...I can double or triple it, then portion it into quart size baggies for later meals.

I also plan for 5 dinner meals each week...but have the same breakfast and lunch each week. So I might decide oatmeal for breakfast this week, with turkey sandwiches and a small green salad for lunch (for me at least, the kids again, have switched to school lunches for the most part). Then 5 different meals. Often they tend to share a spice palate or some ingredients so I don't buy a large container of X and then use one portion and have it leftover forever. Then the 2 nights I don't have a meal planned...we can reheat leftovers, get take out, make sandwiches (there is always bread, peanut butter, and jelly) or find something frozen to heat up. This reduces our food waste and makes sure that I don't have a lot of extras in the house that we might not use. I buy exactly 1 onion b/c only 1 recipe needs an onion, for example. If you have a list - it's a lot easier to get exactly what you need. Some of my local stores are also doing grocery pick up now where they get it ready and I just pull up and get handed bags. Most don't charge extra for this for now. But a few do - but sometimes the few bucks are worth not having to spend an hour in the grocery store. You can use that hour at home for something else.

I find trying to create a hard and fast schedule only seems to make me frustrated if I don't accomplish something or get behind. So being organized about the tasks I need to do helps create a less stressful schedule. Does that make sense? And sometimes...yeah, the laundry needs to be done, but just doing this one load tonight before bed will mean we have clothes in the morning and I have some time to work out how to get the rest of it taken care of.

Make sure you have a trashcan, ice, cups and a roll of TP ready to go into the new place on moving day. They come in so handy and it's nice to be able to offer the people helping you move a bathroom and cold water.

As for storage, I'm a stacker. I think if you buy yourself a few of these you'll be amazed what you can fit in them and how little space they take up. Also this could help for storage as well :) Thanks for the contest and good luck on your move! We're movin' on up!

Fill each pocket with a different activity/toys/snacks. Go to the dollar store and stock up on things like sticker books, crayons/pad of paper, mini cars, bouncy balls, anything that might keep his interest for awhile that doesn't require your supervision.

I recently did a 12 hour flight with my 2.5 year old (and 4 month old daughter). The very best thing I brought with me (other than the iPad) in terms of entertaining him was a ziplock bag full of miniature cars each individually wrapped in painters tape. Yes it was a bitch to clean up after (lots of little scraps of painters tape stuck to everything in arms reach) but every one of them brought happy "oooooh" "wow" "woah" comments, and bought about ~10 minutes of unwrapping time, plus at least 20 minutes of happily rolling them around on things. So yeah, painters tape!

Not to be a jerk, but honestly, in going through the photos, I feel like you could probably fill a couple garbage bags just in trash. I suggest going through and quickly gathering garbage, sweeping the floor and then assessing.

Go through your make-up and toss anything old. It's not hygienic to keep old mascara/eye products, etc and I really doubt you need that entire white drawer thing for make-up unless you're a make-up artist or something. Go through the kitchen and toss anything expired. Buy a small collapsible step stool so you can access the cabinets. Really think through how you use your kitchen and buy items that are multipurpose. Can you pare down your pots and pans? You could use the wall the garbage is against to hang pots if needed. How often to you use your microwave? Can you justify having one? The pantry sucks, no getting around it. I suggest buying square containers for dry goods, like your rice, beans, etc so they are upright instead of flopping over on everything else. The pantry looks deep, but stuff will get buried in the back if you can't see it, so maybe use some shoeboxes or something in the back to elevate things that go in the back. Or get those wire shelfthings. You could also store your plates vertically in there and free up cupboard space for pantry items.


Your closets are totally being underutilized....where are the clothes? Wash all the laundry, sort through it, and start hanging stuff up. You may be able to free up a drawer in your dresser that could be used for something else. Looks like there's room for a shelf above the current closet shelf - again, get a trusty collapsible step stool. The wall in the closet would be a prime place to hang a vertical shoe rack. This over the door style could easily just be hung on a wall instead of over a door. Shelf dividers can help get the closet shelves under control.

I'd work on those things, and then do a major purge, and then look into other storage - you may find out you don't need as much extra storage as you think.

I really like your suggestions and omg you people are so creative :) I was going to suggest painting the shelves and the dresser as well. I love teal and lime green. They should definitely go for lighter colors. They can check Walmart for a duvet. There were very beautiful designs for back to school.

They should go for lighter color curtains and match them with the furniture and shelves or the bedspread. They can even buy some sheer curtains. They give a more fresh and light sense to any room.

I would also suggest putting away your shoes. You can put them under your bed in a box or inside your closet using a door hanging organizer

Okay, I know this might sound weird, but hide-away shoe organizers could be helpful for this dilemma. If you got one or two of these ones, you could hang it on the back of your bedroom door or the outside of your closet door and organize the lipsticks in the pockets in rows, with all similar colors in each four-pocket row. And if you got this 4-pack right here, you could organize all of your lipsticks, shadows, etc. into pockets by color and hide it all away under your bed/dresser/wherever it will fit, and just pull it out when you need it! I know these two ideas aren't adorable or decorative, but I thought they might tidy things up a bit.

For things other than lipstick, you might also benefit from making one of these boards :) I've always wanted to make one, they look so cute.

I forgot to consider you might be out of the U.S, but my tips should still apply.

This might sound obvious but don't overpack clothes. Some of my roommates and myself included brought so many clothes that we don't use and it's just taking up space.

For kitchen use, take your own utensils but just one of each you're not going to need more than that trust me. For kitchen equipment like pans and pots, if your buddys do get in coordinate who takes what so you don't have multiples.

In the beginning it's all about taking what's absolutely essential, if you're able to go home during breaks that's when you bring some more stuff if you have the space.

Ok I see. Yes, I would definitely hang them up. A pegboard would work fine but it's also a huge pain to hang an entire pegboard. If you are allowed, I have two ideas for you. My favorite is this over the door shoe holder. We keep a lot of our cords and electronics like video game controllers in one of these. It works wonderfully. I would label each one with labels alphabetically by manufacturer.

If you don't have a door you can hang it over, I believe you can buy this same type of thing and hang it on a wall.


The second idea I have is to just buy a box of hooks with screws on the one end and put lots of hooks up. It would leave little holes in your wall but so would putting up a pegboard, and it would be easier and cheaper. Labels should again be added above each hook alphabetically by manufacturer.


The last resort would be buying a large container with cubby holes and labeling each one, but the container would likely be large, clunky and take up more room than wall hooks.


If this is a business you own, having it look nice might also be a factor if it's view of the public.

Maybe something like this would help. Utilizing the back of the door for makeup storage is helpful as well. Maybe something like this . Can you put a small ledge by the outlet to put your toothbrush on? That would save a lot of space. something like this. I have one of these for my hair dryer and it helps save a ton of counter space. It's small, but doable especially if you're the only one using it. I hope some of my ideas help.

I really recommend getting more storage in general. Command door hooks, over the door hooks, ottomans are great for this (ottoman also works as seating).

You can use it for shoes or honestly anything else instead (I keep first aid stuff, cosmetics, lotion, umbrella, food, chargers, power banks, and a bunch of random stuff). Lawn chairs are a good alternative to a futon since it's much much easier to transport and store.

Possible causes:

1. Boredom. How much do you play with her during the day? Do you rotate her toys, does she have a window perch and places to climb on, have you tried bird videos, etc? Could you leave out cups full of toys she likes for her to knock over?
   
   
2. Something is seriously disturbing her, she needs comfort and/or is misdirecting her aggression because she can't get at the cause. Did someone new move in recently, to your place or a place she can hear or smell? Is there an aggressive dog or cat in the area she can see going through 'her' territory or marking it? How much time per day do you spend cuddling her and talking to her? Are you stressed out because of something that happened in the past month - pets pick up on that easily?
   
   
3. Cats have preferences just like people. You can't just get a generic scratching post and expect that to work. It would be so much easier if we could. Could you get one with the texture you know she likes?

5. Has she been to the vet since this behavior started? Have you done bloodwork, checked for parasites, etc? I would try the other options first to see if you can troubleshoot this without a vet visit, but there could be something wrong physically.
   
   Last but not least, Prozac is available for cats. Also calming pheremones like Feliway and other over the counter things you can try without going to the vet. Mental health issues aren't confined to just humans.

That way you can have a bin for each accessory. a few for bags, one for scarves, etc. You can organize each purse bin by color or by the type of bag. That way you will know where to look for something specific.

Over the door everything. It's not the most visually appealing look, but it's the best way to maximize your storage space. My personal favorites are the shoe rack and the bathroom organizer. Spend the money for the good ones, not the cheap vinyl shoe bags.

I actually think having them out in the open but inaccessible is the best solution. I have a hanging shoe organizer that I call "cell phone jail". When I have to take a phone, I actually have the student put it in there (so they're in control of placing it). The thing is transparent so they can see the phone the whole time and know where it is. I think that makes them feel a little more comfortable with it.

I work in a Title I school and a student's phone is without a doubt the most expensive thing they own, and may be the most expensive thing in their home, so I understand their stress around it and try to accommodate that, but they definitely can't have it out in class.

I would really like this shoe rack because when my puppy wanders around my house he tends to go by the shoe area. The shoes are all on the floor so he has easy access. He either pees on them or chews. When he chews them he runs around the house when you try to take it away from him. This would help since the top shelves are too high for him to grab so he wont touch the shoes anymore.

If your bathroom has a closet, expand on it's storage with a shoe storage unit. You don't have to use those for shoes! Good luck.

I can think of a few things that were useful for me (I'm trying not to duplicate):

• Shoe Organizer - I hung mine on the back of my closet door and stored things in there other than shoes (such as my hairbrush)

I realize we shouldn't have to pander to this kind of laziness, but maybe if you label the outside of the drawer with what is in it, that might help. I use shoe organizers that hang over the door instead of dressers for little kids, and the socks/underwear/pajamas are all super visible. I roll up the outfits together. No one can fuck up the clothing choices that way, and it's easy for me to have all the clothes ready for the week easily as soon as I'm done with laundry.

Just Amazon's cheap ones. The good thing about this one is that you could stack them as many as you want. A bit tricky with high tops tho (only top level can hold high tops). So if you have a lot of high tops I suggest getting something else. As for size, I wear 9.5. So i think it should be fine for size up to 12~13? I mean if you don't mind the rears of your shoes sticking out a little bit, you can put in whatever sizes you want.

We have 1 closet to share between two people- me and my husband. I hang dresses and skirts there. I have a door-mounted shoe rack on the back of the bedroom door, and hooks for purses, scarves, belts and jewelry on the walls in the bedroom. I have a single 3-drawer dresser for pants, shirts, cardigan and, underwear, and my nighstand is a tiny 2-drawer dresser for pajamas and leggings. Our bed has drawers under it where I store some of the sillier things like halloween costume pieces, or holiday gear, as well as bulky things like snow jackets. I just picked up this one from Amazon, mainly because it was highly rated by TheWirecutter. I’m pretty happy with it. Solid construction, can be put together in several configurations for different sizes of shoes/boots (especially if you get the two-pack). The width will fit three pairs of men’s shoes or boots on each level.

She has to be on board with the decluttering, and it’s best if you help her do it rather than doing it for her. If she just has too much stuff, some of it does have to go. Things worth keeping might be best stored in another room if it doesn’t fit in her room, but it’s likely that at least some of it should be thrown out.

In looking for more room to store things, look up and look down. Tall bookcases or shelves. Shelves above the door, window, closet. Under the bed.

Also consider space on the inside of the door. Get a hanging shoe organizer to hang on the door. Lots of small things can be put in the pockets (get mesh or clear plastic so it’s easy to see contents). I’m imagining lots of makeup stored that way would work.

I have enough shelving now, but when I was in school I had a cheap shoe rack like this one. Another great option for space saving is an over the door rack.

These are not the exact ones that I have because I can't remember the brand names of them, but they are the exact designs of each.

Rectangular. I love this one because it has heavy-duty velcro straps that hold it on the rod and I swear I could hang from those straps if I wanted to.

Circular. This one is OK. The hook is very open and fell off the rod when I first started loading my yarn into the pockets and spun it around, so I had to tie a ribbon around the open end and where it attaches to the organizer. It is holding quite a bit of chunky yarn at the moment and spins like a pinwheel with no resistance.

Out of the two that you were looking at, I would go with the over-the-door one just because of that hook that is on the hanging one. I don't trust those at all now.

If you have your decks in different colored sleeves (or in smaller deck boxes, like these), you can just carry them in one of the white cardboard boxes that most people store cards in. My LGS sells them for $3 each and I imagine you could fit more than 10 decks in one. They look like this, but this one might be better for you.

You could instead get the Khans of Tarkir holiday box, but I wouldn't recommend it since the quality of the cardboard is pretty low.

I have also seen people use this zippered gaming case to transport cards; one of the reviews says that it can hold 10 deck boxes.

College student here, used to shitty dorm closets: If you don't mind having to iron things at the change of seasons, I like to keep off-season clothes and things I don't wear much in my suitcase. The suitcase is just sitting there taking up space anyway, and by packing it well (rolling!! roll as much as you can!!! I only fold heavy knits and sweaters) you can fit a lot into a simple carry-on. Multi-pants hangers and multi-skirt hangers are really useful for maximizing closet space, but I personally don't like multi-shirt hangers and find them incredibly inconvenient. I keep all of my jackets on an over-the-door hanger like this and use the basket (mine only has one) to hold my clutch, spare wallet, dry umbrellas, and sunglasses. On the other side of the door I have a shoe organizer that can also hold scarves and gloves and such. Honestly, seeing what college students are doing could be really good inspo for you since we live in tiny spaces with almost no closet and find a way to make it work.

Not specifically a shower tip, but we find it's handy that when you're sharing a room with several people to bring one of those over-the-door shoe holders pic at Amazon which makes it easy to keep everyone's shampoos, brushes, etc out of the way.

1. Over the door shoe rack is awesome for organizing cleaning supplies. Only thing to be cautious about is that it does make the door heavier and the shoe rack will swing out a bit when opening and closing the door due to inertia. I would recommend attaching the bottom of the shoe rack to the door somehow to prevent this.
   
   
2. If you buy something, something else must be thrown away. This just helps to keep down clutter and filling up space with stuff.
   
   
3. Not necessarily a true 3rd tip, but I moved from a house I owned into a house that I rented. We have one of these that work out well. They're supposed to be for shoes but are great for organizing hats and scarves and don't take up too much closet space.

Those that are actively being used for D&D, Frostgrave, Gloomhaven, or whatever current game we're playing I keep them in Letter Trays except the taller ones go on Spice Racks on a shelf all near the gaming table for easy access. The rest go on this Shoe Rack in a seperate room until they are needed.

Vertical storage! Go up as much as you can, even stacking storage pieces. Wall-mounted storage pieces or shelves. I got a magnetic knife bar for the kitchen and it has opened up a lot of drawer space (of which we are lacking).

Weirdly spaced shelves in cabinets or closets can double their usefulness with a plate/shoe rack!

I also use an over-the-door hanging shoe organizer in my kitchen to hold cleaners and other assorted small utilitarian items. Mesh pockets hold up better than plastic.

Funny thing is my wife hung it on the bedroom door to store all my baseball hats. I just reorganized it to open up about 6 of the slots to hold running gear. Totally handy.

This is very similar to what I have, except the compartments are mesh instead of plastic.

Some form of clear shoe organizers. You can cut them up and assemble them horizontally. You also have a place for phones and IEM cases.

If you want them locked up, a tool chest has the perfect drawer height for wireless mics.

Does anyone know of a shoe rack that is stackable (or at least very tall, since I have many shoes) and has shelves with enough clearance for men's ankle boots (i.e. 7-8" between shelves)? This seems surprisingly difficult to find. The closest thing I've seen so far is this but the reviews leave something to be desired and I'm not sure I could get away with stacking several of them. Any other ideas?

My service uses them for bls and airway stuff on some of our rigs. not for everything just one or two of each. If you label all the compartments it’s really easy to restock since you can see what’s missing. No way to securely lock narcs up though so I don’t think it would help you with your als drugs, but maybe you could get a med bag and just strap it to the netting with a caribeaner or something when you need to

Although, your local game store probably has these WAY cheaper than Amazon. Cause $10 for one of these is terrible.

It sounds to me like you want some sort of cubby so you can roll the dresses and have each in its own spot so you can take one out without the others toppling over.

A few ideas:

I organize from top to bottom: boots, heels, wedges, flats, sneakers.

I try to only fill up at least five shelves because years ago I was a shoe addict and I realized that was such a waste of money for me.

Not having the rack filled to capacity means I can put my shoes wherever I want if I'm feeling lazy and organizing it nicely later on isn't a daunting task.

I saw a post (can't remember if it was here or twitter or instagram) of a college student that used a shoe oraganizer to organizer her makeup.

I have recently purchased 2-BCW Shoe 2 Row Storage Boxes. I paired this with some Ultra Pro Card dividers. Right now I am using one box for corp and one box for Runner and I have all of one row filled only 1/4 of the other row filled. Lots of space still to grow.

I keep them in my closet on the floor, with my built-in shelf, but my house is almost entirely hardwood. I take them off as soon as I get inside anyways I carry them around.

Hang this on the back of a door to hold odd items or cleaning supplies. It's great in a bathroom if you don't have a lot of cabinet space. You can put hair products, straighteners, blow dryer, whatever in the pockets. It saves a ton of space and makes finding things a hell of a lot easier.
