How could you have any cake other for your birthday than funfetti cake?? That's, like, the ultimate birthday cake!

These lock laces would make me very happy by preventing me from having to tie my shoelaces over and over while running.

Happy Happy Joy Joy! And happy birthday! Thanks for the contest. :)

For shoes, I totally recommend lace locks. I buy them on eBay from China so I can have back ups. They come in all colors. That way she can have any shoes she wants and she can be independent in putting her shoes on. I use them because I hate when my laces come undone and I don't like how it feels when my shoes get too loose or too tight. Plus, they are reusable, so you can use them on other shoes. I bought something to help one of students with his pants and buttons. I'm looking for it now. It was like this but it wasn't like this.

Make sure when she gets older that she has time and a half or double the time for tests in a quiet testing environment for her accommodations. If she has more time and its a low pressure environment, she will probably do better. I had someone to read my tests for me (if I wanted) and a quiet testing environment in high school and college. I usually didn't want a reader. But the quiet environment was nice, because I could take my time and it was completely no pressure. They usually didn't check on me, so I could listen to my iPod too (which I wasn't allowed to do because it was considered cheating, but I don't consider listening to Meatloaf as cheating).

For tests where she has to write multiple choice, what you can try is highlighting a box for her to write in. Having a distinct place to write in helps sometimes. Sometimes with math (which will be hard for her) 4x4 graph paper will help her line things up. I've also used 3 or 2 line paper and highlight each line with different color highlighter to give a kid a visual cue of where to write. They sell highlighted paper. If it works. There is also raised line paper which gives guidance. Its interesting to write on. I've used it at a training.

For her academics, if she has a favorite color (who doesn't), I suggest getting her a pen or a pencil in that color. Let her do her work in that color. Get it as an accommodation. If writing in a pink sparkly pen makes her want to do her math homework more, who really cares if its in pink sparkly pen? Staples even sells colored binder paper. If writing on pink paper with pink sparkly pens makes homework fun, go for it. I had a student who would only do his writing with a yellow highlighter. It made it really difficult for me, but he wouldn't write with anything else. Who am I to complain at that point?

You're doing good by her. Just remember 80% is success in life unless you're learning to cross the street or identify bleach.

Interests: crafting with vinyl, reading, cooking, traveling, and good music.

Simple pleasures: Bonfires on a chilly night, laying on the couch cuddling and watching a movie, catching an awesome live show. Oh, and the smell of fresh cut grass.... mmmmm.

And my summer item would be these glowy shoe laces. My boyfriend and I cant keep enough glow sticks in the house. We constantly use them for parties and amusement (He'll attach them to his nunchucks and entertain people for a while..seriously.) So, those shoe laces would be a perfect addition to our collection for our parties this summer.

Thanks for the contest!

Lock Laces. I started using them to save a few seconds in triathlons, but I absolutely love them for running. I ordered a new pair of shoes yesterday and the first thing I did was order a pair of Lock Laces to go with them.

They take a little bit of work to adjust in the beginning, but once you get it right they give you a perfect fit every time. Even if your feet swell during a run, they're elastic enough they just stretch a little rather than getting too tight. They also never come undone in the middle of a run, and they make your shoes very easy to put on and take off.

Hopefully I don't sound like a Lock Laces salesperson. There are other brands and I presume they work just as well, but I haven't tried them. My only real complaint is they're overpriced for what they are, but it's worth it. Also they kind of suck for trail running, and I definitely wouldn't use them for a mud race--that would be a good way to lose a shoe.

You can wear any shoe on Gods green earth with these puppies
https://www.amazon.com/No-Tie-Shoelace-Locks-Completes/dp/B00JOMBZQ8

If those don't float your boat:
You may want to consider a pair of Adidas NMD_R1 sneakers. They're extremely comfortable and the laces are just for show so you could ask a friend or family member to doubleknot them for you tightly so that they never come untied, or you could tuck the laces into the toe of the shoe. They fit loose enough to slip right into them, tied or not, yet your foot doesn't slide around in the shoe when you walk. If you're not interested in those then I would suggest some sanuks. They have lots of styles and are very comfortable and fit right in at most social settings so they'll look casual and nice.

I think you want a premium insert - try looking at Pedag brand, they make lots of different inserts. Depending on how much arch support you want, you can do something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Pedag-Gel-Velvety-Insole-Sandals-Medium/dp/B00478S1SO/ or this: https://www.amazon.com/Pedag-124-Insole-Severe-Metatarsal/dp/B001G0NNWU/ .

Or, you can buy metatarsal-specific pads (like the first 3 results): https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=PEDAG+METATARSAL depending on how much support you need.

This brand is leaps and bounds better than anything you'll find at a drugstore or from one of those Foot Petals-type brands.

It's also good to have this kind of thing on hand in case you start feeling like you have to scrunch your toes when you walk or the shoes will fall off. You can slip it on and your foot relaxes: https://www.amazon.com/Closecret-Womens-Transparent-Invisible-Straps/dp/B01G8KMEVS/

I set it to 50 seconds then payed it while watching this video on mute. Fit perfectly. I think it would be awesome for videos like this.

This would be my gift choice. Thanks!

  1. [Buy these, wait for package to arrive] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HM9W4Q4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

  2. Put them on a pair of shoes

  3. Go to literally any show

  4. Make friends with some of the many people who will approach you to tell you how much they love your dope shoelaces

This process has worked flawlessly countless times for me and multiple friends for whom I have bought these shoe-borne beacons as a gift. If you can't make friends with those babies on, you might be skipping deodorant or something because they're basically friend magnets.

As far as where to find events, depends on your city. Look up EDMTrain.
u/HashtagFlexBreak · 3 pointsr/spartanrace

Lock Laces are a brand, but there are similar alternatives. I just really like and rely on LockLaces because its what I know, ya know? They are no tie and use basically a clip to lock the laces into place. And the actual laces are a thick elastic so you can spot tighten where you want more support. So I make down near the toe box tighter, make them as loose as possible where the shoe is narrowest, and tighten it back up slightly at the top. Clip it, then tuck the overhang down under the zig zag.

Ill have to check out the Altras as well then. The grip on my Reeboks has mostly been ok, but on obstacles like Olympus, I feel like they're not so great. I can still get through but the grip isnt there. Slip walls have been fine. Downhill running has mostly been fine, but any slickness (mud or wet, soft grass) there is definitely some slippage

My OSB peanut/brick mocs from massdrop came today. Started to get buyers remorse waiting for these and thinking the color was going to be too bright and light but they are perfect.

Also got my new leather laces from amazon for my red wings 8152s. If anyone is looking for quality leather laces these are excellent so far.

u/BigBen96 · 9 pointsr/Sneakers

Right here! They're kinda pricey but I got them for free with Amazon rewards points.

u/URnot_drunk_Im_drunk · 6 pointsr/ABDL

I get that this is posted as "Velcro shoes are juvenile" post but Lock Laces have seriously made a huge improvement in my life and I strongly recommend them.

u/vinegarfingers · 2 pointsr/triathlon

Hoka One Ones has a bit of elastic in their laces, but you'd probably be better off finding shoes you like and then adding something like these.

u/TigerBrother · 13 pointsr/triathlon

Lock Laces are what I use. They have been very helpful in taking off a few seconds from T2, and I have had no issues with them. Most people will set them up beforehand to a comfortable fit so all you have to do is slip them on when you're ready to run. No brainer for eight bucks =)

u/SidRunsUnshod · 1 pointr/BarefootRunning

u/Cam_Abyss · 1 pointr/AskPhotography

I actually just use a homemade sling made from leather shoelaces. I use a bowline knot to secure the strap around center-column casing (where the legs join to the spider) and that stays strapped on for good. Then on the other end I use a slip knot so that the it can be wrapped around the legs and easily slipped off. Ill post a couple pictures bc it's easier to just see.

u/Renigami · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Yep. No need for explicit motorcycle branded boots when these with a pair of these is effective, easy to don and secure, and durable.

Not wearing explicitly for track racing or strictly high revving/speed riding either.

u/treo700P · 5 pointsr/bisexual

Thank you! I found them on Amazon. Sof Sole Flat Laces, Rainbow Pink/Purple/Blue, 45"
They have held up for three months so far. I love them with the shoes, Van's I scored at a thrift shop for $3.00. I LOVE them.

u/cyanicenine · 1 pointr/NewSkaters

It's hard to go back to regular laces once you switch. The elastic laces move with your feet so much better than static normal laces. And your shoes fit better since you are actually tightening them up every time instead of just shoving your foot into an already tied shoe like most of us do. The only problem is they are not that attractive. I have some Xpand laces on some other shoes, they also work well and don't use a cinch system so they look nicer. They are more finicky to setup right and they're pricey so I usually just stick with the lock laces and similar knock offs.

u/djlawrence3557 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Ah, ok - good to see where you're coming from. Here's an excerpt from Clark's themselves:

Suede and Nubuck Leathers

• To clean, use a rubber eraser to remove dirt and smudges. Then, brush lightly with a soft brush specifically for suede and nubuck products.
• Care should be taken to brush in the same direction. If you brush in different directions, some suedes will give the appearance of being two different colors.
• Never use a wire brush or polish on suede or nubuck. (Some suede brushes do have wire in the center, which is specifically made for use on suede).

Here's some cleaner

This is the eraser/brush they talk about

As for shoetrees, I don't think you'll really need them for this style boot. But it couldn't hurt if you're really worried.

I might look for a more refined dress lace than the ones already on there.

u/zugunruh3 · 1 pointr/aspergers

My husband (not ASD but has ADHD) uses a pair of elastic laces that turns sneakers into slip on shoes. You lace and tie your shoes with them normally, cut off the excess lace, use a lighter to melt the end to keep it from unraveling, then put a little clip on the ends to cover up the clipped area. IMO they look pretty nice (people have complimented him on how they look interesting) and the only problem he's had with them is that after 8 months one of the end clips fell off. So far it hasn't affected the functionality at all.

This is the brand he uses if you want to give it a try. You might be able to find something similar in a shoe store but we couldn't and ordered it online for $10.

u/crankydrinker · 7 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Every 90's high schooler will have a different take on this, but here are a couple:

  • instead of tying your laces at the top hole, do this and make sure you do a square knot not a bow so it stays flat
  • tie the knot inside the side of the shoe (close to instep) instead of at the center of the tongue, make sure it's a square knot not a bow
  • don't tie your shoes, just lace them sufficiently and tuck the remaining laces on the sides
  • use these

Just saw /u/waffl6's page. I'm sorry to hear about your brother. There's no way around it, he's in for a world of hurt and hard work. Be there for him, even when he rejects it.

You don't seem to be looking for input on getting him on the bike, which is good, at this point. Here are some things I've posted in the past that may be relevant for you/him. I sincerely hope it helps. Feel free to PM me and we can talk or I can give you my email/phone number and I can talk to him directly.

Most people have to emulate Thomas the Train to be happy/successful in life, "I think I can, I think I can...." Your brother will need to have this mindset from now on

I'm sorry for what your family is going to go through for the next ~year. He will feel defeated, he will feel helpless, and he will probably lash out at you all, at one point or another. Do you best to take it in stride and support him. I am where I am today because my family taught me to look at every obstacle as a challenge and that defeat only exists in giving up - keep trying until you find solutions that work. For example, i only tie one lace on my shoe (half bow). It's fast and easy. Took me 3 months to figure out, though. I step on one lace and tied the other as normal. Your brother could put something heavy on the lace or get special lace like these

Go on amazon and look for some affordable LED sole shoes and some LED laces, you should be able to find both for no more than about 40 bucks if that fits your budget. My girlfriend and I used LED laces before and the effect was really cool looking and made it easy to see each other in crowds.

Yeah I was going to wear gel inserts, heel protectors (to avoid sinking into the grass) and even this thingie to help keep the shoe on.

You're so lucky you got them on sale, they're going for $245 on Amazon right now, as well as Nordstroms sigh. I was worried about them being a bit too "extra", and that my dress would cover up the crystals but... I think I really want them.

I get these shoelace locks from Amazon where you thread the ends of your shoelaces into the plastic bits, and then snip the extra off. It keeps your shoelaces attached to the inside of the eyelet, and there's nothing extra hanging out.

I terminated them just behind the cage using clips like these, and cut the excess lace off

You can also hide the bows behind the tongue, which is what I do with stans. Lace all the way up to the top, poke the tongue through the last and second to last eyelets.

With these I'd be the coolest Agent as I walk about hacking portals and drinking my milkshake. :D

Just look up boot laces or even leather laces. Here's an example of boot laces if that's what you mean

Hey everybody... purely hypothetically, would refitting lace-up gloves with these types of laces make it a slip-on? I mean for training?
