This is super cool! I don't sleep, so this will keep me entertained for a bit!

1.) Something that is grey.

Well, it's more silver-ish, but it'll do! (WL)

2.) Something reminiscent of rain.

Because the sound of the rain is so peaceful :)

3.) Something food related that is unusual.

I know, it is unusual! We will be using it for liquid sugar that we make, to make our homemade Starbucks green tea :) (WL)

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!)

It's for my boyfriend, and for the aforementioned green teas we make :) I have one, and he's pretty jealous of it. Not to mention he spills so! (WL)

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!

It's called Jesus' Son. It is really...interesting to say the least, and I can guarantee not at all what you'd expect! (Unless you're expecting drugs, and the main character to be called Fuckhead!)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!

Clever? Or wrong. Lol.

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...)

Because who doesn't miss these guys?

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it.

I mean...he's beautiful, so.... <3

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?

My username is a big hint to what this movie is! It's just so happy, and makes me laugh every time I watch it (and I've been watching it multiple times every year since it came out, and I was only 5!). It's just a genuinely happy, feel-good movie, with great music :)

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.

You know, for heat/fire when there's no electricity! (WL)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals.

It might not be the norm, but it's a gift card. Reason being instead of something specific, is with a gift card I can buy food through Amazon. Times have been a little tough around here, and we barely make it through the month money, and food wise. To know I had a little money to spend on groceries somewhere would be a major relief, and put both my boyfriend and I out of stress. I know it's not a "goal goal", but our happiness is a goal of mine, and it's been a little shakey as of late :/(WL)

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items.

Because ours is torn, oops! (WL)

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?

A nice, damn vacuum. Our current one sucks (bad pun), and I am really picky about a clean carpet. It would just be really nice to have a nice one, and that'll last instead of having to buy a new one every so often. (WL)

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave.

Because it never occurred to me you could buy this on Amazon!

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball.

Individually, smaller than a golfball!

16.) Something that smells wonderful.

I love, love, loooooove this perfume. I've had samples, but never the whole bottle! (WL)

17.) A (SFW) toy.

Not a toy per say, but it's definitely fun, and entertaining for hours! (WL)

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.

Pens! Believe it or not, these have always been my favorite, and despite the fact there's a bunch in a box, I always ended up with none! That's why people should have their own!

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be.

Because I...I'm...I'm a woman possessed. Normally I'm obsessed with Sherlock but since it's not out yet, I'm catching up on Doctor Who, and I can't. Just can't stop. Been talking in a British accent on accident for days! I also freaking love hoodies so it's the best of both worlds. (WL)

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand.

BECAUSE LOOK AT IT! Making tasty foods on it for the belly! (WL)

Hey, this was a lot of fun! Regardless of the outcome, thank you. Thoroughly enjoyed myself :)

EDIT: BONUS: Anything made in Oregon.

It's a whole gift set! It's like it knew! I actually added it to my WL. My favorite jam was taken off the shelves, so I'm always up for trying new ones :)

Sounds like fun! I'll have to do this later

1.) Something that is grey: Pelican Gray Nail Polish. (on private WL)

2.) Something reminiscent of rain: Shower Curtain is a barrier between the bathroom tiles and cascading, rain-like, waterfall that flows from the showerhead. (on dream WL)

3.) Something food related that is unusual: Candy Mold. Chocolate frogs, anyone? (on under $5 WL)

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!): Ice Cream Maker. No ice cream for me because I started keto last week. My friends and family would benefit from this when I make them some delicious ice cream. (on dream WL)

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!: The Knife of Never Letting Go. It's book one of the Chaos Walking trilogy, which has rave reviews. Apparently it's a dark, dystopian book full of suspense. (on high priority WL)

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!: Laser Finger Beams (not on WL)

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...): Westside Warrior Nail Polish. Lions, which are really big cats, are warriors of the jungle. (on under $5 WL)

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it: Origami Star Paper. I like folding these, but once I make them into stars, I literally have nothing to do with them. There's jars of them all across my house and all I can do is look at them (on under $5 WL)

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?: Song from Iron Man 3 Soundtrack. Everyone should see it because Iron Man + Tony Stark + RDJ = <3 (on digital WL)

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.: Spin-the-shot. If zombies attack, I would need to be drunk, so this would come in handy for some last minute fun before I turn into a brain eating zombie. Let's face it, I'm not surviving a zombie attack... (on $5-$10 WL)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals: Coconut Oil. Everyone on the keto subreddit raves about this stuff. Being a newbie to this lifestyle, I feel that if so many people had great results using this oil, that it would help with my goals. (on $11-$25 WL)

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items: Anti-stress face mask (not surprisingly, found on my add-on WL)

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?: Globe Bar. I would feel like a super cool James Bond-esque spy who would have a secret room hidden behind a bookshelf. Plus I love alcohol and globes. (on dream WL)

14.) Something bigger than a bread box: Desk Easel. (on $11-25 WL)

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball: Earrings. (on private WL)

16.) Something that smells wonderful: Pink Punch Baby Lips (on add-ons WL)

17.) A (SFW) toy: Kindle. I would consider this a techie toy. (on dream WL)

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school: Fun Colored Pens. (on add-on WL)

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be: Paints. My current obsession is painting! (on $11-25 WL)

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand: Mug. I love love love this literature mug. I not only love the varying typography all over it, but I think that there are some really striking first lines of literature. (on $11-25 WL)

BONUS

1.) Real name: PM sent

2.) Made in Oregon: Handwarmer Mug

A really helpful resource is a rat cage calculator like this one

Second, if you're really on a budget, I highly recommend looking into cages for other animals like ferrets, chinchillas, sugar gliders, or birds. For some reason, I've found that rat cages seem to charge a premium. Use the rat cage calculator to check for size.

One option is this small animal cage on Amazon for $47.95 that can hold 2 rats (not any more).

Keep an eye on Craigslist and local buy/sell/trade Facebook groups and you can sometimes find a good deal on a secondhanP cage.

A big consideration is bar spacing. If your rats are full grown males they can probably not get through 1" spaces, but any younger or smaller rats need no more than 1/2" spacing. The cage I linked above has 3/8" which is fine. If you do find an inexpensive cage with large wire bar spacing, you can solve that by wrapping the cage in hardware cloth. For example, this hardware cloth from Home Depot it's only like $9 a roll and would work just fine. It's not the prettiest or most elegant solution but certainly gets the job done. If you find a super cheap secondhand cage, that can really save you a lot of money.

Finally, don't forget that rats should not be walking on bare wire shelves or ladders, or they can get sores on their feet called bumblefoot. You will need to cover the wire in some way. Many people use fleece, but it's best to place an absorbent layer underneath the fleece such as a packing blanket. Plan to change the fleece frequently, as it doesn't absorb urine and the ammonia can build up quickly and irritate your rat's respiratory system even if you can't smell it yourself. Fleece should be changed at least every 3 days.

Personally I ditched all the ramps in my rat's cages and bought rope dog chew toys from the dollar store for them to climb on. They like the challenge much better than the ramps anyway. Also at the dollar store you can get little baskets and containers for your rats to hide and sleep in. No need to spend a lot on rat-specific items. Get a dollar store package of zip ties to attach everything. Speaking of hanging things, I use these shower hooks from Amazon to hang everything and at 50 rings for like $6 they're a great deal, plus the points get covered when you close them.

Okay, that was long but good luck! Also I'd avoid Wish, they charge a fortune for shipping. Have fun!!

Cheap tripods are great for traveling, and I've given over a hundred demos with them, but they kinda get in the way, and the larger you make the footprint (to improve stability) -the more they encroach in your play space.

I use these tripods with these swivel adapter things for my on-the-road show. As long as they don't get bumped, you're good to go.

For home, I use This tension rod and this rod mount - you may need a longer rod- I run it from the top of my dresser to the ceiling and the top of my computer desk to the ceiling. The 87 inch one isn't long enough to go from floor to ceiling for me.

As far as other essentials, two of these help with plugging the lighthouses in. An HDMI Extender, Power extender, and a USB 3.0 Extender (those three work perfectly for me) will make your life 100x more easy, especially if your computer isn't directly next to your play space. The extra 10 feet makes a world of difference for reducing tangles, reducing the number of times you have to stop and untwist your cord, and making you not worry about yanking on your computer when you get to the far corner.

Lastly, this wireless keyboard thing will save you from running back and forth from your desktop.

---

As far as sweatyness, I got over the ickyness pretty quickly. My friends have mastered basic hygiene, and face sweat doesn't smell all gross or anything. After each demo, I run the foam under the sink to rinse it off, then dab it with a paper towel and set it on a box fan to dry. It's good to go as soon as the next person is done and I repeat the process. I ended up buying a set of new face foams from the HTC website after I lost my narrow face foam though :(

Oh that is so exciting! Did you move from your city/state, or did you just buy a house in the area you already lived? I'm currently renting, but hope to buy a house once I've moved to another state. Home decorating is so much fun. It's like playing the Sims. I'm totally down for this, so excuse me if I link several things:

Wall Art:

If you're a fan of horror, there is this beautiful frankenstein and his wife wall art

Not sure what room you might hang this in but, beautiful regardless

I saw you said that you like cows, and thought this would be a fun piece to hang

Lighting:

This REALLY cool vintage metal pendant light

This cieling spider lamp fixture (not really a spider) would look amazing in your bedroom or livingroom

But of course, we can't forget some proper lighting for the kitchen, with this hanging glass ball edison pendant

A Few Misc, But Fun Selections:

the paper towel holder you didn't know you needed

a wine holder, because cows

to commemorate your new home

everyone needs coasters

Last but not least, some fun shower curtains:

fear and slothing in las vegas

it's so wrong it's right

bc who wouldn't want a cat riding a narwhal

shark it to me

Have fun filling your new home! May you make many new memories, good luck!

I bought something similar to those light stands, but didn't like them....they "cut" into your roomscale zone, and they can not be as sturdy as you really want them to be (the lighthouses shouldn't move even the slightest bit).

I kept them for when i take my vive somewhere else and use as a portable solution. After some research, I use these now and love them...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3B4YPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and for actually holding the lighthouse onto the pole...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSMCPKQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

those are totally metal, and worth the slight extra price compared to plastic ones (but you could probably save a little money with the plastic ones).

those poles are great and easy to move too!

hope it helps, and you made the right choice w/ vive, it's the superior HMD by far.

>Ever since I watched this video of a boxer getting motivated in the corner between rounds by his coach, it fascinated me. The focus of the boxer, the energy of the coach the belief that he had in him, you can see in both of their faces, just unreal... It gave me goosebumps. I really wanted to replicate that feeling by myself and I couldn’t just find some guy to shout at me every day so I decided to be that guy myself. The boxer and the coach. I started reading motivational books, printing motivational quotes and hanging them everywhere. Talking to myself in the mirror, repeating all those phrases, believing in myself. Every morning in the shower reading the quotes of my shower curtain getting hyped and ready for a new challenge. I started to be more confident, more enthusiastic about everything. I noticed the change in my attitude, it became more positive. I am just riding this thing and I recommend everyone just to try this and I guarantee you, you will see changes immediately. My point is surround yourself with positive thoughts and repeat them to yourself, some of you might think it’s lame but at some point I swear to god you will feel like shouting that stuff in public!

Holy shit guys, I need to share this with you all. So we're going to move in together at the end of October and our apartment application just got approved, so it's getting pretty real. My FH just said "yes dear" to THIS (it's so freaking cute) as a framed photo, and then said that I could buy whatever decorations I want.

Our apartment is going to be the most cutest and adventure-heavy apartment in all the lands. Just look at this shower curtain! It's amazing!

u/sammijo235 · 2 pointsr/RATS

They are shower curtain hooks!

I got mine from Amazon.

I bought 2 or three packs of these because I like to leave them hanging even when they don't have hammocks on them. It's hard to hang them from some parts of the top of my cage because I have coroplast on the top to make storage room (and ratty play room) on top of the cage.

Also, old clothes make excellent hammocks.

You could head down to Goodwill, get some men's denim pants for $5-7 and make 8-10 hammocks with just scissors and some shower curtain hooks!

Denim hammock.

I also don't generally recommend yarn work for rats. It can easily unravel if the rats chew in the right places and long toenails can get caught.

That being said, this one is a VERY tight crochet, so nobody is going to get caught in it. The tension helps it hold it's shape pretty well too.

u/tehmooch · 1 pointr/funny

Welp I went to search this as a christmas present for my boyfriend and the rabbit hole of funny shower curtains landed me on this one instead. He loves cats, tacos and especially pizza. Im gonna hang it up while hes at work and then just wait. ♡

Thanks for the adventure through amazon lol

I have glass doors and they are a pain to keep clean and the tracks collect hair etc. If I could go back to a curtain I would in a heart beat! They sell special curtain rods that bow out and in give more space depending on if your in or out of the shower that you may like. The shower curtain rings you choose will make a difference when you take down the curtain to wash it occasionally.Choose ones that are easy to release the curtains like this one https://www.amazon.com/Maytex-Double-Roller-Curtain-Brushed/dp/B0042ZB1YI/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_all_spx_wp__9?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0042ZB1YI&pd_rd_r=4a7c7c8b-6054-40ef-88ad-38da6ff1fcf0&pd_rd_w=mszF2&pd_rd_wg=3m3AG&pf_rd_p=be1fc0a3-5323-42ce-8eda-5c75d301717d&pf_rd_r=T144AA1254XT47RN1399&psc=1&refRID=T144AA1254XT47RN1399

I have a floor-to-ceiling shower curtain rod as one of my stands with a handlebar mount and I have two tiny flexible tripods that can grip almost anything. Between these mounts I've never had an issue demoing at friends' houses. To add to the other great demo experiences people have already mentioned, I'd also try Richie's Plank Experience. Great for demoing.

u/Nanya_business · 27 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Hahaha oh my god my sides! The mental image of that is the best thing I have heard all week.

Edit: omfg it exists and it's better than I could have ever hoped.

u/AtlasPwn3d · 1 pointr/oculus

In my apartment we use clamp camera mounts (https://amazon.com/dp/B00PICAE4C/) with tension rods (https://amazon.com/dp/B00IF5SY1E/) run vertically (floor-to-ceiling) with the cables wrapped down around the pole. While the pole is more of a visible 'thing' than just a tiny wall or ceiling mount, it gives a natural place for the cables to run (versus just down the wall) which IMO makes it look much better than any of the other options (at least for us renters who can't run cables inside the walls).

Less ideal for tracking but more minimal, I've also seen people mount their two front cameras on the back of the top two corners of their big screen tv or wall mounted in this location along with a wall-mounted TV, and having the cables run down the back of the tv with the other tv cables.

Another option is to ceiling mount sensors above or just in-front of curtains for a window or sliding-glass-door and run the cables along the top and side of the window/door frame completely covered by the curtains.

---

Aesthetically in many cases it is pretty much the same whether you're running a usb cable down from an Oculus Sensor or a power cable down from a Vive lighthouse--either way you have to run a single black cable down the wall from mount height to floor height (the aesthetically challenging bit) and then cables along the baseboard (which is easier/not a big deal by comparison).

That's great. Chemistry was always my thing as well. I was lucky to have a wonderful teacher. He used to let us come up with our own experiments to try. I went on to study Chemistry and biochemistry at uni.

I've been using extensible shower curtain rods, with camera mounts meant to be attached to motorcycle handle bars. Works great, takes a lot less room than tripods, and can be moved around easily. I have 9-foot ceilings, and the rods reach perfectly.

I recommend getting a proper mounting solution for the base stations.
I got two telescopic bars (is this the right wording? I'm German...) and smallrig v2 clamps and this is doing it's job pretty fine. It's an additional cost but afterwards you're pretty flexible in positioning you're base stations.

Edit:
I use these exactly:

Today my second mounting clamp and rod came in. After trying several heights and angles, and testing with the desk demo I found that tracking was perfect from top to bottom except when facing the very edge of my bottom left room corner while my hands are in front of me. In which case my body completely covers my motion controllers and a third camera would still not be able to help since my room is too small /cluttered to cover that specific angle. The biggest thing that helped was NOT mounting the cameras as high as possible, as it is suggested by some users. The higher they are, the farther away they are, and being cameras and limited by resolution, being too far away (too high) results in jitter/unstable tracking. I ended up mounting them at about 7 feet high. I suggest a rod/clamp solution as it allows you to quickly test and make small adjustments, and using this setup allows you to move the cameras in every way possible (6 degrees of freedom). Here is the exact rod and clamp I'm using for those interested. Obviously any similar rod/clamp will work.

I think I'm caught up for now. Fortunately we've had a slow day at work and we haven't started to implement the project I've been over yet. Thanks for taking these over /u/herumph, love this series.

  1. I hear /u/Mortifyinq has some pretty solid plans and philosophies, they're pretty similar to JD for some weird reason though. But JD is who I've stuck with, I'll probably end up breaking into Pfitz for my half though.

  2. I picked up an extra 3 hours of sleep, does that count?

  3. Umm...

  4. Kind of. I had to drop mine down to 1000 after I had to take two months off. I'm currently at 879.1 and still have to run today. I'll probably hit it though.

  5. So I need to buy a gift for my company Christmas party and need ideas. The only thing(s) I have so far would be getting one of these: 1 2 but I feel like there's better, dumber things to burden somebody with. What have you guys got?

Instead of tripods, I'm using some very long shower curtain rods.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L43HT2E/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0

and pipe clamps:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E5M39AW/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1

It works like a charm, easy to set up and move if needed, and is a lot more compact than using a tripod :)

u/NoShftShck16 · 1 pointr/lifehacks

So what is happening is that the hot water is causing steam to rise creating the slightest 'vacuum' in your shower. The further you point the shower head away from the curtain, the further the curtain comes into shower.

You can do two things. One, angle the shower head closer to the curtain, itll help push the curtain away and will somewhat level it out. Or buy a curved shower rod.

You can get an inexpensive one like this or the more expensive alternative that rotates to free up space when not in use.

Get your daughter a shower curtain that has a slot for tablets/phones/ sheets of paper.

Like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075HG56QH

When she takes organic chemistry she'll need to learn about dozens upon dozens of reactions and rather than having to write them all down on the wall, she can just stick paper/phone/tablet in between the slots to learn them while showering. This is how I got through my O chem.

Realistically you don't even use most of the periodic table as a chemistry major. You learn about trends and such but the things that are actually useful (like atomic mass) are learned through sheer repetition.

Also, get her started on memorizing the amino acids if she's interested in biochemistry :P

I have a Rotater Rod from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Rotator-Rod-SBW60Y-Rotating-Brushed/dp/B004V9KOJS/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417637562&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=rotater+rod) and it truly is the best thing for a shower. $54. Add in a very heavy weight vinyl shower liner and it'll change your life.

You don't want floor stands. They are ugly and flimsy and take too much room. What you want is some shower curtain rods. The tension mount kind. Install them vertically between floor and ceiling, then use camera mounts to hold the lighthouses. Temporary yet sturdy, they take up only one square inch of floor space, and can even be attractive if you get a style that matches your decor.

Personally I use these rods with these camera mounts. I've used them in four different apartments and they worked perfectly every time, even with high ceilings. In fact, I've started using them to mount other things like security cameras as well.

I was a March 30th Paypal order.

I got my Vive about 3 hours ago, which was surprising as it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK.

I had some issues getting Audio to work from the 3.5 jack on the headset but restarting my computer solved the problem. I couldn't be much happier with it.

I have it set up in a room 9 metres from my PC.

I am using the following after various threads on here recommending different things.

Mounting poles

Clamps

9mtr HDMI cable

10mtr USB cable

Everything's working perfectly.

u/openglfan · 2 pointsr/Vive

For non-permanent mounting, I have had great luck with a pair of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L43HT2E

and a pair of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E5M39AW

Just a personal recommendation. I'm not a shill for Big Showercurtain.

u/polluxstoi · 2 pointsr/Vive

Not exactly mounts, but Shower Compression Poles work great (don't forget to get clips), and are portable or cheap enough to get two sets maybe. They are also more sturdy than a tripod, because they won't be effected by floor vibrations.

u/CorbinDallasMyMan · 1 pointr/RATS

I just switched from a Critter Nation to a Martin's-style cage so I've changed my hammock hanging hardware as well.

In the CN, I used split-rings and lanyard clips. It was really time consuming, the split rings were hard on my fingers, and the lanyard clips were hard on the powder coating.

All of my hammocks have grommets in the corners so I picked up some 1" s-hooks at the hardware store and they're working out great. They're only about 10 cents a piece, really quick to hook on and tear down, and easy on the powder coat. All of the hammocks I'm using are hung pretty taut so I don't know how well they would work to hang a loose strappy hammock. For my cubes and lower hanging hammocks, I'm still using the pear-shaped metal shower curtain clips.

here ya go.

In my experience, it's a little short maybe, but the fabric seems good and it's really well printed. Apparently some of the cheaper ones are just an image blown up, and it's all pixelated.

u/EightBitDreamer · 10 pointsr/oculus

I use shower curtain rods that extend from floor to ceiling, and then a clip-on mount. They work great, don't look bad (I got white rods against my whitish walls) and you can mount the camera at any height/angle.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IF5SY1E

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019T1MVP2

Not nearly as cheap, though.

u/ElectricZ · 1 pointr/Vive

A buddy of mine got a set of curtain rods like these to stretch floor to ceiling:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00F3B4YPS/ref=twister_B06XVTC2D7

And then these pipe clamp mounts to attach the lighthouses.

https://www.amazon.com/Grifiti-Threaded-Microphone-Diameter-Motorcycles/dp/B00E5M39AW

He's pretty happy with them.

Before I bit the bullet and drilled holes, I used a pair of mini camera tripods to put them on shelves. The downside was they were super easy to bump out of alignment meaning I had to re-run roomscale setup all the time, but they were also super portable and it'll look no worse than small satellite speakers as far as inspection is concerned.

u/Throwlurk · 1 pointr/Vive

I used these for the support rods:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3B4YPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are simply shower curtain rods that are supported with a spring. Since the lighthouses are pretty light, this holds their weight without any trouble, and there is no vibration at all. It's very sturdy for the price, if folks are looking for something a bit more affordable.

u/Hilarious1 · 2 pointsr/Vive

Tension bars big enough to run floor-ceiling, and clamps with the 1/4 20 camera mount thread on them.

Example: 2x these and 2x these. Shop around for better deals. Look for mention of "ball head" as it us a very simple but effective method for articulation.

u/Snoron · 3 pointsr/chemistry

My shower curtain goes up to Og - don't get an out of date one!

I think it's this one:

Currently have my Vive setup in my apartment living room, which is adjacent to my bedroom with my PC. In the living room is my TV, two couches, and my Vive lighthouses.

On the two opposite corners I have these extendable spring loaded poles I purchased from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IF5SY1E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_87Y2DbXVJ2P9P

I adjusted the tension so its a tight fit from floor to th ceiling.

On the top of those poles are my lighthouses pointing towards the middle of the living room. The lighthouses are mounted onto the pole using these attachable clamps.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E5M39AW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_q5Y2Db59XQ0TV

They've been there stable since May of this year.

u/pj530i · 6 pointsr/Vive

Dunno why people are suggesting tripods when he said they take up too much floor space...

I have been using these super long curtain rods (running from floor to ceiling) + gopro camera mounts for 2 years without issue:

u/Waferlove · 1 pointr/IKEA

It doesn't have to be the IKEA model, maybe a generic pressure mounted pole? You could use an exercise dance pole or a long shower rod like this. The dance pole is made to support the weight of a small human so around 130lb, and you would need two.

Curved shower rods are great, especially doubles, but get the ones that attach to the wall with fasteners rather than friction (those suck). If you can only find a single, get this type of curtain hook.

Curved rods don't take much much extra space, but make the shower feel a lot more spacious.

Semi related, get one of these shower curtains with an iPhone pocket. That way you can change the song or see who texts who texts you without dripping water on the floor while you’re in the shower.

Curved shower rods stretch the curtain out more, give you more space to shower, more air flow, and let the curtain dry faster.

I'm sure a lot of more qualified people have answered the why part, but I also have a small bathroom and small shower, and I bought one of these and it made a huge difference. It makes the shower bigger and keeps the curtain from coming in the shower and attacking you. It also swings in when you're finished and gives you more space.

u/DrKartoshka · 2 pointsr/gaming

Nah, you should him this

u/ifandbut · 7 pointsr/Games

>The sensor boxes had to be plugged into outlets and you needed to mount them high-up in the corners of your room. The criticisms were valid, when setting up hardware requires power tools something is probably amiss.

No power tools required. Just some shower curtain rods and some quick release pipe clamps for cameras. Yes, more money, but provides a mobile setup (or just an adjustable setup) and you dont have to put holes in your walls (something apartments frown on).

u/Kensai187 · 1 pointr/oculus

For a cheaper version you can use tension rods aka shower curtain poles. I used three of these:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L43HT2E/ref=twister_B00Q6HDHOM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

They come in different sizes too.

u/LightOfDarkness · 1 pointr/Vive

Unfortunately Canada gets kinda shafted on contractor poles (it would cost me $400 just for 2 it seems that's for the 4-pack on Amazon, and getting 2 would actually be $200)

I did spot these however, would they be able to hold up a lighthouse? I'm not 100% sure what my ceiling height is however it is a flat ceiling rather than an angled ceiling.
