HALF SHELL HELMET!

There's tonnes of these out there, and each will name their innovations with funky names and cool logos. In the end, though, the most important thing is what will protect your noggin the best - and that means getting an EPS foam helmet. Look for "CPSC", "ASTM" and "Dual Certified" lids - they've been rigorously tested.

SLIDE GLOVES

Slide gloves are a pretty awesome bit of kit, and can really boost your confidence levels - Plus, you need them for Coleman slides.

Below is a list of premade slide gloves, but first, consider making your own! You can even just buy the pucks, and attach them to your own gloves bought from a hardware store.

However, if you're not very DIY-minded, here's a list of premade gloves - all of which include pucks.

KNEEPADS

Let's face it. Knees suck. They're absolutely amazing, biology-wise, but they're one of the most fragile pieces of our body - and if you don't know already, it's only a matter of time until you find out that falling on your knees is really easy on a longboard.

Hard kneepads will allow you to bail out of most falls, and just slide to a stop while kneeling - pretty nifty.

If you only want to go slow, consider some G-Form pads - but know that if you bail and slide on them, they're gonna get cheese-grated.

I ordered the Bern Brentwood helmet and had the Triple 8 Brainsaver with Sweat liner helmet. I got it used (like-new) for 40$, the same price as a new Triple 8, so if you stalk amazon used you could definitely find one for 40$. Also, Used-Like New for the helmet I bought meant it was never worn and returned immediately because it looked brand new to me and it came with the original box and some Bern stickers.

Best part of the Bern Brentwood helmet is that it is ASTM F2040, CPSC and EN1078 Certified. TRIPLE CERTIFICATION FTW! Protect your knoggin.

Depends on what style, weight and price range you want to be in:

• Demon Podium Mountain Bike Helmet is what I'd go with if I was looking for a full face. Weighs 2lbs, pretty sharp looking.
  
  
• Sector 9 Drift - Might turn more heads with its colors but offers great protection. Slightly pricey for my taste.
  
  
• Triple 8 Downhill Racer - black, more subtle styling. Pretty lightweight at under 1lb.

helmets designed for skateboarding and action sports don't have that weird thick layer of hard foam. That shit is hot and uncomfy. When I was a kid, I had one, because was the department store standard.

I have the pro-tec classic helmet (which admittedly I don't use, but I bought one just to have one, I'm 28 and started skating at 11, no brakes) it's snug light. It cups the head well and doesn't feel like it'll fall off without if its unbuckled. Take a look at the interiors of each helmet and tell me which one you think looks like a better fit. I am almost sure that pink helmet will sit on top of your head and provide no protection
40$-55$ for a helmet may seem like a bit much, but it's worth it in the long run. Just don't leave it at the park. Also, if you can, go to one of those mega sporting goods stores, and try on some helmets. To know your size and get an idea for how they feel.... then just buy it online for cheaper

2. Haven't personally tried them, but these BoardBlazers seem to be good quality lights, Casey Neistat has a video on the BoostedBoard in general and shows the lights off.
   
   
3. By tips and tricks I'm assuming you mean things like the regenerative braking. Boosted's Tip Tuesday on Pinterest is a good place to start(If not, go check out /r/longboarding for longboard tricks, although it isn't advised because of the motor/battery)

This isn’t a replacement for a full set of knee pads, wrist guards, knee pads etc. However I just nose dived at very high speeds on pavement, and these pieces of gear plus a good tuck and roll let me walk away with just a few scratches.

It's the same or very similar version of the Triple8 the OP posted. After the comments here, I checked Amazon and turns out Triple8 has a newer version that is certified which looks very similar and sells for $45. Should be arriving tomorrow.

I would reccommend going with just an S1 Lifer, as full face masks are tended more towards downhill where you would go 30+ mph.

No worries, our brains are something worth obsessing over. This whole ordeal reminded me of how fragile our minds and bodies really are. I was also wearing jeans and a hoodie and gloves. I need to go back to the place of the accident and check out the sidewalks, lighting, etc. to see if something could have been a major factor. I haven't been back on the board yet but I powered it up and ran it upside down and everything looks and sounds normal.
