    Features:
  • The skater skirt should be in every young girl's wardrobe: The basic skater skirt looks very simple, but there are many reasons the skirt has been loved through the years. The full mini skirt has a high waist. The high waist offers a comfy fit and makes a woman's waist look slimmer. Also, the flared mini skirt has a full skirt line. So, the flared skirt creates a full beautiful flow and lovely pleats. Also, the A-line silhouette adds a feminine mood to this circular skirt.

Oh boy...hold onto your hats because I am an Amazon ADDICT.

Womens Flirty Flare Skirt BLACK
$14.99 - I just wanted a skirt long enough so that I didn't look like a little girl when I wore it...I did not succeed. I still like the skirt a lot though. Cheap, shiny material is the only negative.

BGSD Women's 'Elizabeth' Wool Blend Patch Pocket Coat - Black
$89.99 - lI needed a new coat, very plain, with no weird button on the back because they always bug me. I wanted to pay for something nice because the last coat I bought stayed with me for almost 10 years. SUCCESS! Absolutely adore it!

Choies Women Faux Fur Plain Black Waistcoat Outerwear Vest Coat
I paid $11 for this fur vest, just to see if it was something I would like. I love it! No pictures of it in, but it was a very pleasant surprise!

Milesline Women's Leatherette Slingback Peep Toe Ankle Bootie, Black
$14.99 - I've only had the opportunity to wear these once so far (fear of frost bitten toes!) but they are cute and I wanted a low heel option that wasn't a pair or black kitten heels I have.

Blizzard Bay Men's Bats Ugly Christmas Sweater, Burgundy/Black
$23.99 - I like to make fun of myself, and a bat with a Santa hat was the perfect holiday sweater for me...unfortunately it was 65 degrees this Christmas. I kept it, anyway. It's kind of boxy, but it's very cute.

12 Ami Solid Drape Harem Cami Jumpsuit Black
$28 - I would gladly pay it again. It may be ugly...but it's SO comfortable. I'm a housewife and we travel via car VERY frequently. This jumpsuit is so easy to just throw on when I'm hanging around the house, or going to be in a car for hours on end. I've even wore it out and about, after making a few adjustments to it so it sat a little nicer.

Honorable mention to this leather skirt, which I added some metal spikes to. I probably paid $13 for it a few years ago, and it's super cool looking. :)

I've bought everything from leggings, to shoes, to socks, to makeup, to small appliances on Amazon because I'm a major homebody/bargain shopper. :)

I'm so jealous of your hair's natural texture!! I love the pic with the top knot and I think like someone else said, doing a half-up top knot like this would be cute! https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cHkxzBwlApw/maxresdefault.jpg

The off-the-shoulder shirt is a really cute look, and tops like these are really trendy right now! https://smile.amazon.com/Lisingtool-Womens-Shoulder-Stripe-Casual/dp/B07218QKGG/ref=sr_1_9?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1505953656&sr=1-9&nodeID=1040660&psd=1&keywords=off+the+shoulder+top

You also have really nice legs, and miniskirts like these are great for end of summer/early fall! You can wear them for even longer with tights underneath when it gets a bit colder. https://smile.amazon.com/Clarisbelle-Single-Breasted-Corduroy-Medium/dp/B072KGG31V/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1505953925&sr=8-7&keywords=corduroy+mini+skirt

The tight shirts look cute on you, but I definitely still feel feminine in an oversized sweater or cardigan and leggings :) makes me feel small wrapped up in a big sweater! Kind of like this https://smile.amazon.com/Pockets-Knitted-Cardigan-Sweater-Wollsolo/dp/B0749MNX22/ref=sr_1_14?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1505954395&sr=1-14&nodeID=1040660&psd=1&keywords=oversized+sweater

Not sure if you're into makeup, but mascara and lipstick never fail to make me feel pretty! For mascara, I put on one coat of Cover Girl clump crusher (helps keep the lashes from getting well, clumpy) and then a second coat of L'Oreal Voluminous (makes them well, voluminous lol). For lipstick, I'm obsessed with these "slip tease" lip oils from NYX - it's not oily or greasy like the name implies, it's super pigmented and dries matte but is super comfortable to wear and long-lasting! I'd recommend almost anything from NYX, they have lots of great products and they're very reasonably priced.

I've been through these cycles of binge and purge so many times over the past twenty years, I can't even possibly imagine how many thousands of dollars of absolutely adorable clothes and accessories I've throw out in shame, only to regret it later. I think I'm finally past that, and while I can't necessarily help you get to that place, can't help you work through the associated cognitive dissonance and cultural pressures, I can maybe at least help you rebuild.

Panties are where I always start back off. Simple, plain, cotton panties. Fruit of the Loom, Hanes, whatever, something cotton and with a gusset. I've become partial to Fruit of the Loom Heathers, both in bikini and hipster varieties. I've tried all variety of novelty, skimpy, silky, frilly, and the tried and true panties that make me feel the most feminine, that I'm actually willing to wear day in and day out are simple and breathable. I've recently given Amazon Essentials a try, fully expecting the worst. I was prepared for them to be the sheisty garbage you'd get eBaying from China, poor stitching and loose threads and you wash it once and it falls apart. Not so! Though not as fantastic as Fruit of the Loom Heathers, I'm enjoying the Cotton Stretch Bikini and Cotton Stretch Thong varieties.

From there, no feminine boy is complete without a pair of shimapan! And naturally from there, you'll need to pair them with appropriate stockings!

Of course, one of my favorite things in the world after panties and stockings are skirts! I was just talking to somebody elsewhere on reddit today here, I'm currently wearing the shorter version of that specific skirt. Go long, go short, either way the material is thick and flowy, perfect for going spinny!

I'm also partial to spaghetti straps, and these are my daily drivers. The color set that I have isn't there anymore, but those are all great too!

The next part requires bravery. I have gone thrifting at Goodwill for skirts and tops exactly once, just a couple of months ago. And while I found a haul and was extremely proud of myself, it took all the psyching up in the world to be able to just go and do it. I got a few looks but nobody said anything to me and I powered through. I want to go again, I will go again, but wow that's going to be another brave journey to work up to.

Nail polish I pick up at Big Lots, usually for about $2 per bottle, nail polish remover too. I get all sorts of stuff there anyway so one or two feminine makeup items never raised any eyebrows. I've been shopping there for years so I figure most of the employees get who I am but not a one has ever given me a single bit of grief over it. You can tell from my personality, from how I walk and talk and present myself - it's not the biggest secret in the world, but holy fuck it's scary sometimes just being open with other people face to face. I'm not big on makeup outside of nail polish, that is to say I'm not very experienced, so the $1 and $2 brushes, mascara, eyeshadow, and eyeliner I pick up there do just fine for me. I imagine if I were more experienced or more than a basic bitch I'd be appalled at the quality therein, but I have the bliss of ignorance right now!

I wish I could be more helpful addressing the underlying problem, the shame and cognitive dissonance, the need to hide and the desire to do away with your secrets in order to feel safe and clean. It took me twenty+ years to be even a little ok with myself, to accept myself for who I am, to finally be past purging all my cute and feminine things, so I absolutely get it. Wishing you the best, the strength and resilience to be who you are, to not have to change to satisfy any outside ego structures, to enjoy what you do, and to recognize your inalienable right to look like on the outside how you feel like on the inside. It's a path, a journey, a long hard road that's tough to walk alone. The only thing you can ask of yourself is to do your best, to be the most genuine you that you can possibly be!

I think the first few pictures aren't that bad, but not that great.

I think https://i.imgur.com/oavzPbe.jpg is going in the right direction. Might try to find ways to get more volume in your hair? I think that of all the pics this hair cut is working for you the best.

The main thing is the glasses. They don't seem to work for you.

https://i.imgur.com/gw9DQ01.jpg Is pretty good. The outfit is working. Maybe having the bottom of the dress be right at knee level might be better? Like this: https://www.amazon.com/Lark-Ro-Pleated-Chiffon-Knee-Length/dp/B01H76T9QA Maybe not.

https://i.imgur.com/z7TNLs1.jpg This is good. Maybe find different shoes? Not necessarily a big deal-breaker, though.

https://i.imgur.com/SK5bcpw.jpg As I go down through the picture you seem to be figuring things out. You look cute in this. Probably the best outfit of the bunch.

In the last three pictures, I don't think the outfit looks very good at all.

I'd like to see what you'd look without the glasses.

Hope I helped.

DAZCOS US Size Plaid Skirt High Waist Japan School Girl Uniform Skirts (Women XS, Pink) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071JBQJDC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_QJZyCbYX9WBWC

here it is!!!! i got it in the pink color!!!! and a size medium!!!!!! it’s a little bit short on me but i’m kinda tall 🥰💓💞☺️😋💗 i hope you get one too we can be twinsies!!!!

u/crispytot · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I tend to like clothing that is a bit more on the simple or plain side, because then it makes it really fun to accessorize or mix & match pieces, so a lot of my choices reflect that.

I think this dress is super cute and lacey/witchy.

doc martens are the perfect edgy shoe you can wear all year round! The dark glossy cherry red color is super pretty too.

These pants are really cute and are a super lightweight material which makes them nice to wear in the spring/early summer/early fall. There are also similar ones in a plaid print that I looooove.

This dress/skirt is super freaking cute and comes in a couple of different colors!

These shorts have a witchy vibe to me! Plus, these type of shorts are the BOMB during the summer.

My brain is tired & I can’t think of a pun right now 😭

Speaking to the frugal FFAers out there who shop on a budget. I'm a grad student so I don't have as much to work with. Looking for the following:

  • Flared High Waisted Midi Skirts in solid colors >$50 - more on the light casual side like this or this. I'm happy with fast fashion as long as it semi-decent (I have one from F21 that looks like the first imagethat was $15 and its great). I also just bought this for $45 and price quality ratio was great but I want something a bit less formal and cheaper for daily wear that includes lots of walking and sweating. The thrift stores near me have nothing and I thus far haven't had much luck on eBay. I comb fast fashion frequently and grab the semi-decent quality things (H&M, F21 contemporary) that occasionally show up but they go out of stock so quickly. Thinking of getting this one from Amazon but I'm weary of the no name brands. On the other hand though it has good reviews and its sub-$23. Anyone have experience with cheap circle skirts off Amazon?

  • Fitted 3/4 sleeved tops of any variety in cotton or rayon (anything not full poly) >$30 - I like basic ones as well as cold shoulder or off the shoulder. I just was wondering if people had experience with any in material a bit thicker then jersey or super thin cotton. I'm wearing this one today and I love it but it only comes in one color.

u/SansaLemoncakes · 12 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I went on a short trip to West Africa (Benin) a couple months ago. I'm not sure which country you'll be in, but Benin is roughly 40% Muslim but many women there (non-Muslim) wear tank tops with their skirts and have no issues. I'm sure you've done your research on the country you are going to, but just wanted to flag that it may not necessarily be the norm to be completely covered if the country isn't 100% Muslim!

As for packing, maxi skirts are your best friend. I ordered just one of these simple skirts and wore it a ton. It was in the 80s and 90s when I was there and I never felt too hot in it. For tops, I mainly wore very lightweight button-downs (I was there for work so I still had to look somewhat business casual) but I would recommend lighter t-shirts and blouses. You may also want to invest in a pair of insect-repellent pants - I did not pack them because I went during the dry season, but as you will be there for an extended period they will likely come in handy.

Other than that, I would really take advantage of making some skirts from the local fabrics - I was so disappointed that I never got the chance to buy any as I think they are so beautiful! I am jealous you will have the opportunity to do so!

*Quick edit just on a note about being in a Muslim country: Be prepared for the 4 AM calls to prayer! The first night it really freaked me out, but after a couple days I found it to actually be soothing and very beautiful and it didn't interrupt my sleep as much.

Getting a bit ahead of myself, but with the above-freezing temperatures this week, I can't help thinking ahead to summer. Last summer, on super hot days, I wore this skirt with a striped or solid color tank top and a black or gray cardigan. I am a grad student and I work in a lab, it's pretty casual, but I am also trying to start dressing a bit more 'responsible adult' and less 'lazy student.' I really like the skirt because it's super comfy, it's loose and lightweight without being see-through, and, at knee length, I feel like I can wear it in lab without tights or leggings and still be appropriate. The fold-over waist is a bit schlubby, though, and I only have the one skirt in black (!) so I was hoping to get a few more, something similar in maybe a dark gray or a dark pattern of some sort, but it's hard finding a-line jersey skirts of this sort that aren't, well, a bit schlubby, c.f. this one, I like the gray color, the length, and the slightly more structured waistband, but the exposed seams are a bit more casual than what I am ideally looking for. Anyone have any pointers?

u/zylophone · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Congrats on your success, you look great! I have a somewhat similar body type (but I carry a lot more weight in my butt/thighs) and I am obsessed with midi length pencil skirts. They're super versatile (dressed up with a blouse or dressed down with a crop top) and come in lots of amazing patterns. My personal faves are from Vince Camuto (e.g., 1, 2) which you can usually find at Nordstrom Rack.

I tend to lean towards monochrome prints, which makes it easy to pair with other monochrome tops or a bold pop of color. There are some fun printed ones on Amazon too.

u/graphite_leaves · 2 pointsr/teenagers

If she has a favorite candy, that's always a good choice. Flowers can be cheesy and are a little overrated IMO, but if she likes things on the sappier, more classical side, you can go for that, too. As far as cat skirts go, this looks good if she's into skirts on the shorter side, or if she prefers longer ones, I think this and the available variations look pretty dope. And of course, if you really want to impress her, you can always go the 'ol Lonely Island route and give her your dick in a box, which will inevitably result in a BJ with a 100% success rate. /s Good luck!

u/newaddress1997 · 1 pointr/asktransgender

An a-line skirt could be good? Something like this and cheap fishnets were my partner's first 2 women's items (bought as a joke gift at least a year before she figured out she was trans, life is interesting). The skirt is still a favorite though. She'll wear it with t-shirts (sometimes unisex she bought before, sometimes mine or new shirts of hers) and no matter what it's cute. Also lipstick is a classic. Knee high socks and wide neck sweaters are super cute and comfy, especially if you live somewhere where it's getting cold now. Good luck!

u/connfyoozd · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Need your advice!

I dress modestly for religious reasons. I don't wear pants, and wear only full sleeves. No slits in anything, and nothing see-though. My wardrobe consists of basically just maxi skirts + long sleeved tops, or maxi skirts with a cardigan. I do try to make my look a little nicer by wearing jewelry (and I also just enjoy wearing jewelry), but this makes it look even fancier. Because of this, I often look overdressed, especially in casual settings where everyone else is wearing jeans/shorts and a t-shirt (like class, where everyone is dressed casually and I look like I've come from work, even if I haven't). Usually I solve this to some extent by wearing a denim jacket or chambray top with my dress/skirt. I also have one chambray skirt which I like, but it's only one skirt, so I can't wear it every day (like every day that I have class, for example).

I recently started thinking of getting a denim skirt to help solve this issue, especially since I can't wear a denim jacket in the winter, whereas I can wear a denim skirt over my thermal leggings. BUT, I know that they often look frumpy and old-fashioned. I don't like the look of the typical denim skirt, like this one. They look stiff and not as feminine (I prefer more "girly" looks), especially with the seam running down the middle.

I recently came across this skirt, which looks more my style (and no seam down the front, just one in the back, plus it's an A-line shape). I'm thinking of buying it but am worried that it still won't look very nice. *I know* that it's my choice what I wear and as long as I'm happy with it it should be fine, but this is a fashion subreddit, so I just want everyone's honest opinions. Would this skirt look modest yet fashionable (while being casual) or does it look just as frumpy and old-fashioned as most other denim skirts do? Basically, yea or nay?

(Btw my body type is similar to the person modeling the skirt)

u/teenaamariee · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

holy crap i never knew they had mermaid skirts but we need them!

i'm obsessed with mermaids and i liked a lot of the clothes you had (very similar tastes woo!) but that skirt won me over! I added it to my "Things To Wear" list.

Balloons are fun. And birthdays yay! thanks for the contest!!!

I love that mermaid skirt! I can already picture the adorable Halloween costume it could make.

Linky- I like it in green but I bet any color would look awesome, especially multiples as a group photo.

Balloons are fun. :)

So I've never seen or tried on the Modcloth Tiger Lilies skirt in person so I'm not sure how much my review can actually say.

Anyways, though, the one I linked to is a midweight polyester (amazon says 100% polyester) which according to reviews of the modcloth one it is also a midweight polyester. It's knee length on me, and I'm 5'8". I ordered a size 12, but I waffle between 32-34 waist size. The back of the skirt has an elastic piece, so you could probably get away with going a size down if you like your skirts tighter? The elastic piece looks kind of odd if you don't wear the skirt with a belt or you can hide it with a cardigan (it has belt loops though, just like the modcloth one). I always tuck my shirts into my underwear for better staying power, so I couldn't see any shirt tail lines, or underwear lines either. By the end of the day it had a slight wrinkle in the front where it creased as I sit all day, but the rest of it was still nicely pleated and wrinkle-free. I worked super late yesterday so couldn't nab a photo but I'll wear it this weekend and grab one.

They have a Merlot in a size 10 that I'm debating about buying, or maybe trying this other midi one.

Try this one from amazon - the same listing has a few different length/shape variations, if I remember correctly, so check them out carefully. I have it in coral, I'm 5' 8" and it hits above my knees, maybe two or three inches above when worn just about at my natural waist. I sized up one size, I think it was because the length might increase with size? Not sure on that.
